It’s never really a rival, because even if the ML didn’t stop it (like they usually do), MLs always seem to have some kind of “allergy” to other women except the FL. The FL wouldn’t compete with another woman anyway , she has dignity and wouldn’t fight someone else over a man and she will start distance herself from him towards sml an ml will start panicking or she'd be mad at the ML if he didn’t handle it. 🥲😅🙃

The usual reasons are: he fell for the FL from the start and stayed faithful for years, or he simply never wanted to date anyone until she came along and “changed” him and he starts dreaming about her and can’t live without her. 😅😂 and this actor have a couple of dramas like this when he fall for fl and she even get married to sml and after years she get divorce and he fight for her second time and do everything in the relationship while she focus on her career, you're my secret Cdrama is a good example about what I'm talking about, he was a big simp in that drama and she was not a good girlfriend "wife"
Like you said, the double standard is crazy in the C-drama world. Watch dramas where an SFL likes the ML, and you’ll see how much the ML suffers because of the FL’s jealousy. But when the ML is jealous, she doesn’t care and might still go out or work with her ex. Got a Crush on You is one of good examples .

And that’s exactly what I’m talking about the cluelessness thinking the other person also sees it as just friendship. In C-dramas, by their “laws,” the SML is always closer to the FL, and she’s more herself with him. She gives him more space to act like more than just a friend, even if he's not her friend from the start, if watch the first frost you get what I'm talking about.
I call it the “SML halo” it gives him more freedom to cross boundaries, do questionable things, and still come off as good. It’s not like the ML, If the ML did even half of what the SML does, the FL would slap him multiple times.

If you notice, in Cdramas it’s usually only the ML who gets slapped by the FL. The SML gets away with things with just a small apology, and the FL forgives him easily. Meanwhile, the ML has to beg, cry, and “close the ozone hole” before he gets forgiven 😅😂.

It’s a love triangle by cdrama laws 😅 and it’s an overused cliché. The scenes with both men fighting to impress the FL and standing in front of her to protect her are cringe as f. The ML gets jealous, and the FL acts like she can’t see any of that, which makes her EQ lower than a child. They also make the SML look better than the ML and give him more chemistry with her because he acts freely, and she acts freely too, so their interactions look better than with the ML, who can’t even start a conversation and is cold to a ridiculous degree. She’s always running from him and her past, like loving him was a bad thing

I will never forgive myself if I get tricked by these cucumber-simp-loving writers ever again. I’m proud of myself for the knowledge I have about these cliché, stupid, time-wasting K-dramas. For years now, I haven’t wasted time on any drama because it’s always the same thing: a selfish FL with emotional baggage and a simp ML who was born just to love her and breathe her pain without any dignity or make her deserve his unconditionally love .
