I haven't watched it yet but from what you said it seems like they are trying to pander towards the elusive "Modern…
Sorry for the long paragraphs !😶‍🌫️😅

Also, could you please mention some of those dramas you said do exist?
Because I’ve only watched maybe 3 or 4 of those kinds of C-dramas, and one or two K-dramas like that.

One of the best C-dramas I’ve seen — and my favorite — is Road Home.

In that drama, both the male and female lead respect each other and both make an effort in the relationship.
There’s no breakup after they get together, and the female lead truly respects the male lead — and shows it through her actions.

She acts like how a wife should be, and he also respects her deeply and do his part .
He never gets involved in her personal life like her work or decisions unless she needs help, and she's also understand his job and how it's dangerous and he can't tell her anything
and when she do need him , he supports her .

he cooks, and cleans and — with love, not as a burden or like he's only helping but he can do it he doing it ,
And she does the same for him.

One of the most beautiful moments is when he washes her feet while she’s pregnant and takes care of her without her asking and she even didn't want him to do it but he do it .
He does everything with love and care.

She also always puts him first — not her career,or friends, or toxic family like in most romcom K-dramas and C-dramas.

That’s why Road Home is my favorite drama:
because of how it shows a real-life, healthy couple — built on mutual effort, respect, and love.

I agree with you completely on 99% of what you said,
but friend, don’t talk about flipping the rules — like saying it’s okay when women do something, but it was bad when men were doing it.

For example, in romantic C-dramas and most K-dramas, the male leads are always the ones cooking and doing house chores without even being asked, acting like it’s their job.
Meanwhile, the female leads don’t even know how to boil an egg!
So who was living on junk food and frozen meals before the male lead showed up?! 😅🤣🤣

---

And I never brought up traditional gender roles because, let’s be real, they’re not going to follow them anyway —
not in a society that expects women to work and never even considers the idea of being a good wife or a stay-at-home wife.

They intentionally portray female leads or second female leads who act traditionally as women who suffer, get disrespected by their husbands, or are cheated on or abused.

---

Even when the female lead is the one making all the effort in the relationship,
she ends up breaking up with the guy and focusing on her career, deciding not to think about love or men at all.

But once she does that, suddenly she gets a bunch of guys chasing her — all of them “better” than her ex in every way.
That’s one of the most common clichés in Asian dramas.

And when she finally chooses the male lead — after he’s given her the moon and stars —
she does nothing in the relationship.
Unlike how she used to treat her ex, now it’s the male lead who does everything — cooking, taking care of her, giving her massages, etc. 😅

---

Honestly, I don’t have a problem with the male lead treating her like that.
The issue is that she rarely does even half of that for him —
unless he suddenly goes bankrupt or loses everything, and then she sticks with him to help him get back on his feet.
(A great example of this is the drama Only for Love 😅).
And like I said, this has become a cliché.

---

Now, about real life:

Being single, married, or traditional is up to each person. Everyone should do what makes them happy.
But to demonize being a traditional wife — like modern feminism often does —
and always portray husbands as evil or abusive or thinking they’re superior to their wives…
That’s something I completely disagree with.

---

Because the truth is:

Men also go to work in jobs so dirty or hard that most women wouldn’t even want to watch them being done in a video.
And they do it to provide for their wives and kids — not to oppress women or go home thinking,
"How can I abuse my wife today?" 😅

The majority of regular men go to work, come home, and give their wives their paychecks —
and they’re happy doing it because they know their wives are more experienced in taking care of the house and the kids.
That doesn’t make her less than him — they complete each other.
That’s how it’s been for most of human history across the world.

---

It’s mostly in the Western world that they treat stay-at-home wives as less than men
just because they don’t have a job or a career — just because they cook, clean, and take care of the house
while the man works to provide.

And no one even mentions that many men also help out at home even after working all day.
Most men leave for work at 5 AM while the wife is still asleep!

---

I’m not saying the man does more — in fact, I believe stay-at-home wives do more.
And real men appreciate that and know how hard it is to take care of the house and raise kids.

---

Long story short:
There’s a huge difference — like the sky and earth — between how male leads were written in the past
and how female leads are written now.

And how viewers treat them is also completely different.

That’s why I dislike most new dramas —
because the female lead is always right, even when she’s clearly wrong.
She never apologizes, always has a “reason” or a “trauma” behind her actions,
and if the male lead gets upset or doesn’t understand her,
he’s not a green forest anymore 😅

bad actress in romantic scenes they said! I read many comments specifically say she's cold and have no different…
thanks for elaborating, why they break up and why she was acting hard to get when he wants to get back!? and she always directly or indirectly making him jealous!? and if you remember what episode they get back together!?

thank you

Nah, he was completely crazy in the novel too. Like a lost puppy, stuck in his own jealous world without any sympathy…
yes it's one of good Cdramas that have a fl that love ml more than he love her and she make effort. I watched it and rewatch it too , and road home also a good Cdramas, and forever and ever and hidden love also.

It’s the typical plot of C-dramas, lol. Female leads never love the male leads the way the male leads love them. The MLs always love unconditionally, wait for years, beg for her to love them back, get jealous, do everything she says, and are always insecure. The FL acts like accepting him is some huge favor — like he’s lucky just to be with her — and he has to act like a servant because of that.

When she’s jealous, she gets mad and he has to apologize and make her feel secure. But when she makes him jealous, he still has to apologize or just accept it — because “it’s her life,” and she doesn’t give a damn about his feelings. Sometimes, he even ends up apologizing for not trusting her around other men, lol.

I stopped watching C-dramas because of these unbalanced relationships, the male leads who are simps with no dignity or backbone, and how they always fall for the FL at first sight — deeply and unconditionally.

Meanwhile, the female leads treat them coldly, belittle their feelings, and act annoyed just because the ML loves them. And when they finally return the feelings, it’s done like a favor — with no real apology, no acknowledgment of the hurt they caused, and no balance in the relationship. It’s exhausting to watch, and honestly, it makes it hard to enjoy the romance when it’s so one-sided and unfair.

it's same romance plot different actors unfortunately

I read a comment below that FL started dating SML from ep 15, what was the reason, she likes both ML and SML?
Hi 👋
So, she apologizes after she tried being with another man, but she didn’t feel anything for him, or he didn’t satisfy her 🤣😅. At the last minute, she says tol , “I apologize, and I will be good to you like you have been for years, even before I knew that you liked me.” and I bet it's not her who take first step to get back even after breakup with sml and say I'm wrong but I guess she still friends with sml also after breakup 😅🤣 I don't trust Asian shows anymore to have some dignity and personality for mls ever they always make them simps that love unconditionally and even accept to be second choices

I watched a short clip that they say is from this drama. Is it true that she cheated on him and got pregnant? Or are they wrong about the drama’s name because they use the same actors? Thank you!

I don't allow it because I always skip sml scenes with fls in the dramas I watch if it has an annoying sml or even someone who don't respect her feeling and still think about her , and specially when fl have no boundaries with sml even if she knows his feelings I don't start watching it, but if I did I skip all his scenes so I never have second ml syndrome 😅🤣😅🤣

lol you hate me because I dislike a character on a drama and still think I'm the one who needs therapy!? you have to go first and after you get well come and let's have a conversation so you will understand that you're the crazy after the doctor says it to you 🤝
