I must praise the action choreography a bit here. Some martial moves, turns , flying kicks and flippings by Yangmi…
I still remember the action scenes from Legend of Fu Yao - in particular the scenes when Yang Mi and Ethan Juan were what I call 'flirt fighting' were amazing. I go back to rewatch them every now and then. ^^
and how do people get mad for the way the emperor treats her? She's purposely poking at his wounds....
A person irritating you on purpose doesn't excuse an unreasonable response.
Of course, a person who holds the position of emperor has likely never had his hand slapped and been told a firm 'NO!' so as to learn how to moderate his behaviour.
Have watched till eps 20 but I still don't understand what Novoland is
As I understand it, in a nutshell, 'Novoland' is the attempt of bunch of chinese authors to create a fantasy world/stories a la 'Lord of the Rings' style.
From what I've experienced so far (I've only seen a few of them, and not all the way through), by and large this basically means taking the typical love drama/tragedy story and throwing some fantasy elements (like mermaids and mages) into the pot. Like 'Star Wars' is basically a soap opera set in space, 'Novoland' are soap operas set in fantasy.
Just my opinion. I could be wrong. As I've said, my experience of the series isn't extensive.
Coming to Tilan..I don't how why she keeps provoking Emperor..Dressing up as Zizian thinking that will make him…
I think it incredibly unlikely that Tilan thought being Zizian would make him happy. All scenes prior to this point shows Tilan understands precisely how the consideration of Zizian would make the emperor react.
Everything about Tilan and her understanding of her situation, and also of her appreciation of the somewhat peaceful relations she'd been able to attain with him to that point says she wouldn't, for consideration of her own peaceful life, push the emperor in any way. There is only one change at this point in the story so far which, to my mind, can explain her action.
The envoy, and the subsequent disclosure from her maid about the situation in her home state.
I'm thinking Tilan's probably been shamed into how she's sought to protect herself by keeping her relations with the emperor peaceful, at the expense of the welfare of the common people. She likely came to a conclusion she had a duty to push the relationship further, not for herself but for others.
Now 1 thing i donโt get it. Or maybe they will explain in future episode as per usualโWhy Su ming kill ju…
It hasn't been explained fully. Which, sure, in part is infuriating, but imho I'm bearing with it because ... do we ever really know the full details of traitorous plots when they're happening?
Maybe she was working for Su Ming.
Or maybe while Ju Qiqi was supposed to be working under the Fang's as per her family before her, maybe Ju Qiqi branched out as a traitor purely because of her jealousy and so there were 2 traitors acting concurrently - Su Ming and Ju Qiqi. It could be that Su Ming targeted the fabric department just because he had been targeting Fang Jianming's people all along and the fabric department was an easy get.
So, while I'd like to think, based on the previous teaser glimpses, that on hearing Haishi was captured, rushing…
Yeah, that shiny mermaid palm thingy is persistently nagging at the back of my eyeballs.
I'm forever an optimistic pessimistic. I know it's likely we won't get satisfaction so early. But I still hope.
(And then my hopes get crushed like piano falling on a pavement walking pedestrian. All discordant and bloodily messy. Like Feng Zhi Wei at the end of Rise of Phoenixes. Highest quality drama hopes dashed into utterly defeated smithereens. D*mn you production crews for toying with my heartbound hopes like this. ๐ฅบ๐ญ)
Too much. Too very too much. But yet, still not enough.
*hits the replay button yet again*

Firstly - DIE EMPEROR DIE!!!!
Secondly - Fang Jianming deserves a thousand emotional cuts, my best wishes for Haishi's future tongue to be the sharpest and most cutting. ๐
Edit : *sigh* Well, at least I'll have fond memories the Lanzi sugar scenes.
Not wanting to hate ... just saying.
Has to be said the production has really been giving us great teasers so far. :)
Hmmm ... maybe the production team aren't screwing us with the candle tease....
