Hahahah I literally just remembered GDC is airing right now. Well I refuse to watch any drama from tencent apart…
If you're talking about HO'sB, then I think the first season was just Book 1, of 5 books. The second book skips back to the past. The online translation links I used to have seem to have disappeared, it appears to be because MXTX's novels are going to be officially released in english versions ... as per this website: https://sevenseasdanmei.com/ So it looks like you won't be able to read book 2 of the novel until Feb 2022 at this point. 🥺😭
Edit : Also, for some reason, instead of separating it into 5 books, the english is separated into 8 volumes. I couldn't tell you where the splits are. Perhaps the 3 extra volumes are the post-ending extras?

GDC - grandmaster of demonic cultivation. It's the anime version of the untamed. SS - at least on this board it seems, refers to 'scumbag system', aka svsss, aka 'scum villain's self-saving system'. I confused it with 'swallowed star'. The 3rd and final anime season of GDC just started airing last weekend. The 1st anime season of scumbag system has aired. I don't know of any subsequent seasons. The 1st anime season of swallowed star has aired and had a bloody awful sudden cliffhanger ending. The trailer for the 2nd season (presumably a season, though I read somewhere it might be a movie instead of a 2nd season of the series) dropped within this last week, but I haven't heard any news of the air date ... which is why I got all hyper about a reference to 'SS'.

Is SS Swallowed Star? I heard a trailer dropped for the next season (bloody awful cliffhanger on that first season) have you heard anything about the second season air date at all?
Unfortunately, only the director. Would have been nice to see the whole production team together once again.
Frankly the red of the pics is too bright for me. I don't know why but I've always pictured the red of Hua Cheng to be a deeper, darker red, more befitting the gloom that I'd imagine would persist around a ghost king. The brightness of his costume seems too cheerful.

The fact that the Untamed did so well with middling CGI says it all really. If the acting (assuming the direction given to the actors plays a big part in this) does not sell the story to the audience, then it doesn't matter how good the CGI is. However if the acting is on point, then it can get off with less than perfect CGI.
'Doctor Who' is a good example (the old series, that is). Some of the crappiest special effects ever, but had a solid fan base for decades because of the stories told and the quality of it's actors.
If: a - it's the same director that help make 'The Untamed' such a success (despite the sub-perfect CGI); and b - they've retained the same level of enthusiasm for this project as they had for 'The Untamed'; and c- this project gets as good or better support from the supporting groups as 'The Untamed' did, ... then I'm very optimistic this will turn out well.
I'm going to go re-watch Ashes of Love again just to see Luo Yunxi😭 I can't wait any longer for this! I really…
Try "Princess Silver". IMHO his character is wonderful in that series. Has a big part to play in the finale, even though it's not technically a lead character.
That way you won't have to put up with that annoying grape fairy. XP
The only truly annoying thing in Princess Silver is the chin on the male lead. :D
Is Chen Feiyu a good actor? I have not seen any of his work - movies or TV shows so I have no idea. Please provide…
His action scenes in 'Ever Night' were amazing and IMHO he really got the cynical yet mischievous teenager feel just right, but the romance story of the character seemed very stilted in it's portrayal (particularly in regards to Sang Sang). I go back every now and then to rewatch EN season 1 just for the kick arse action sequences, fantasy storyline and scenic locations and usually forward skip through the romance scenes.
In 'Legend of Awakening' the series started with an interesting slant in the first few episodes but after that I quickly became bored and could barely make it half way through the series before I just couldn't motivate myself to watch any more. But if I'm being kind that might not necessarily be due to his acting by itself.
honestly, I'm a little afraid of all the hype this drama is getting. With the untamed and word of honor, no one…
Personally, I can't say that I have high expectations. There was so much in the novel that simply wouldn't pass censorship. It will heavily depend on how the scriptwriter has adapted the story for tv, so I'm going in completely clueless, expectations wise, as I'm expecting the feel (atmosphere?) of the series will likely be much different to the novel.
On the other hand, Leo Luo is in it and I've loved all the work I've seen of his so far.
Been hearing about this one for the longest time, and finally gave it a shot. I honestly just planned on taking…
1. Don't lose out on a good thing. Pace your viewing. 2. 'court room'? There were lawyers? Were there lawyers? 3. It does spend its time investing time in its scenes, but that's all about character development. See point 1 above. 4. Perhaps the anime might be better for you? Its english title is 'The Founder of Diabolism' and it's a closer portrayal of the original novel, though it hasn't finished airing yet (the final season, season 3, is supposed to start airing from tomorrow) but if I were you I wouldn't try watching both versions simultaneously. 5. If this is your first time viewing, having a naming guide on hand would certainly be helpful.
The thing I love about the anime version is it's a lot closer to the novel. Note how he's controlling the Yi City paper puppets, unlike the live action version.
I'd read on MyAnimeList that season 3 of the anime version of The Untamed, 'The Founder of Diabolism), was going to be airing from 7/8 so Iogged onto WeTV to see : the updated title!
'The Founder of Diabolism : The Final Season.'
"WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO, It's out ALREADY, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAA" I thought, "23 episodes! All at once!!"
Only to realise the existing 23 episodes were from seasons 1 & 2 and the 3rd season hasn't started to be uploaded yet.
Put up a data board on the wall behind her with her personal stats/details and the promo pic used as her avatar on this site would look like a mug shot.
Great foresight!!
Book 1 has chapters 2-57.
Book 2 has chapters 58-88.
Book 3 has chapters 89-180.
Book 4 has chapters 181-198.
Book 5 has chapters 199-244.

HO'sB is my <3. Even more so than GDC. Both novel and anime. The theme song of the first season was beautiful.
I was just now wondering whether I have the right understanding what constitutes 'anime'. I think I might be using the term a little indescriminately.

...Actually I was just pondering the issue of accessories.
How old is Hua Cheng? Hasn't he gone insane on a few occasions? And on those occasions wouldn't his attire bear the scars?
It's not just too cheerful a colour, the costume itself is too clean, too tidy, too ... unlived.
But hey, that's just my opinion. ^^

...not as close an adaptation to the novel that I thought it would be, but still good!

Such a rollercoaster of emotion...
