People seem to commonly have two difficulties (1) the multiple names thing (which makes keeping track of who is who a bit difficult) and (2) the time jumps thing (which makes keeping track of events/plot a bit difficult).

If the 2nd thing is giving you difficulty, try the 'speical edition' (their spelling, not mine) on youtube, as the scenes have been re-ordered in that edition to follow chronologically (though here and there the sound editing is a bit off).

If the names are giving you difficulty, then you should be able to easily find a naming guide for the Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation around somewhere on the net.

Other than that, if you're having difficulty following along, it's helpful to keep in mind that the plot follows two main separate arcs. Wei Ying (aka Wei Wu Xian)'s first life, in which he's a genius boy cultivator who's life just keeps getting progressively worse. And Wei Ying's second life, in which after he is resurrected he investigates weird happenings over a decade after he had initially died which are seemingly related to his first life, and along the way seeks a kind of redemption for the mistakes of his first life. That's why you'll find people saying you have to stick with it past the first 10 or 20 episodes - because you need the first life backstory to get the feels from the second life redemption story.

Edit : if the time jump thing is giving you a headache, the novel is far worse in that aspect. Even the regular edition of the live series is more orderly than the novel.

Also, another aka for Wei Ying is 'the Yiling Patriach'.

The subs are horrible. At least in the first episode. I'm struggling to get even half way through (the first episode). Which is a pity because it seems like it'd be a good fantasy series from what little I can make out of it (and I love a good fantasy series).

Edit: the subs on mangotv's direct website are significantly better than mango's youtube channel ... however ... only the first 2 eps are available. Eps 3-7 are labelled 'Pre' (I assuming 'preview') and the remaining eps are locked for 'VIP' (which I presume is subscription).

Such a fun and sweet series. (Am only up to 12 so far).

Am gonna have to pay closer attention to my blood sugar watching this one. 😉

I'm wondering if they'll actually go there on the confession ending given that they haven't been that shy on the topic so far. XD (The flirting with Wangyi when annoying Jiang Cheng at the start, the hand tying with the ribbon, detailing what the ribbon means to Wanyi's sect).

Since they seem to have skipped the Jin Guangyao reveal back at Lotus Pier and simply went straight from the blood pool to the temple, it seems like 'as in the book' isn't going to happen in the case of the core. I'm wondering whether it'll happen at all with the donghua since we've only got two episodes left. Plus I can't recall the prior story relating to the core in the book being in previous episodes - ie the period in hiding with the Wen siblings after the sacking of Lotus Pier. Perhaps they did and I've forgotten it because it's been so long...?

I should probably go back and rewatch it all from the start. I'll make a plan to do that before the final episode airs. GDC donghua cram party plan proceeding!! XD

Avoidance. Instead of addressing their immediate problem head on, the brain subconsciously tries to steer them into an action that will give them pleasure instead of stress.

Diaries aren't simply a way of recording what you've done, but also a tool to help you reflect on where/who you are. If you're feeling embarrassed about your reading habits, then maybe dial it down a bit. After all, there is such a thing as porn addiction. Too m uch porn is never a good thing. XD

On the other, if he's making you read it aloud in front of a group of other people, how is it a diary? What kind of class is this any way? A class where you have to practice being open and able to analyze your very intimate details with other people ... like a drama class, or a psychology class, or something?

Edit: I don't think you have to be entirely honest. Are your classmates saying such intimate things out loud such as their porn reading habits? I doubt it.

Maaaaaate, I am LOVING the donghua!

If there was one thing the live action didn't have that I'd really wanted to see, it was the Wen remnants out of the blood pool ... and it's in the donghua.

Thank you for that clarification. It's the 'something new' I've learnt for today. Had a different impression of what 'tsundere' meant from just reading the term generally and hadn't understood it's origin.

I'm completely with you. Personally I wouldn't do it. Personally I don't condone it. But from the character's perspective it achieves his goal.

...well sure, but then you'd still have to wait for episodes through Fri-> Sun.

I'm enjoying it too ^^. Though I am kicking myself because I've started watching it's still airing. This is looking like one that'll have me anxiously refreshing the streaming page while waiting for the next episodes.

But it's much more emphatic it they get pissed with him being so demeaning to them. Otherwise they might think he's worth actually pursuing.

In regards to 2. So far what I feel from the FL is not so much naivety, though she is that in some aspects, but more that she's very logical and methodical, which comes across as naive and gentle because she tends to think things through first, rather than lash out first.

Shits gonna hit the fan when her emotions get in the way though ... which seems like it might be happening soon. If not because of the whole "he wants me to win the competition so he can get rid of me" thought pot she's currently got bubbling away, then it has to bethat one-nighter. Can sense a pregnancy plot in the making.

In regards to 1. I don't see it as tsundere as such, merely a high IQ, low EQ person with a privileged background thrown in to make him extra arrogant. As a character he's still fairly rational and understanding - as evidenced by his easy acceptance of Li Man's victim status, and the lovelorn guy's relationship v work woes.

A pity he has the conversational skills of a high IQ, low EQ arrogant privileged boss. It's useful for the scriptwriters wanting to stuff some extra drama in, but makes me want to grab my screen around it's neck and shake some sense into it.

In regards to 4. I read the first few parts of the web comic (stopped when I got to the period blood chair ... really? they had to go there!? and so early in the story!??), they've changed the story quite a bit between comic to live action. In the comic he was her friend before she interviewed for the job, and actually helps provide her male clothing.

...ah, but wasn't that intentional? He was trying to put off those dates...?

I'm really enjoying how the anime is reimagining the storyline. Can't wait 'til the rest of this final season's episodes are available!

It's a pain init. Usually if I can't find the series on WeTV (when it's supposed to be), it's usually because Viki has the airing rights. I'm assuming it's a country airing rights zone thing. Sometimes I wonder why I shell out for WeTV at all.

It's not to say that I didn't enjoy the live action - I did, and have rewatched it a few times. It's just there are one or two things here and there that I think they messed up.

One particular example is Ye Xiu as a team leader.

In the novel at the start he's very much the pro team leader. Always taking care to bring EVERYONE in the team along. Whereas in the drama they have that one particularly ridiculous scene where he draws a circle around the other team members and then goes off to earn the dungeon record on his lonesome. That just didn't fit his nature at all. It matters (at least to me) because in the novel, as it progressed, I got a sense of Ye Xiu's character aging, and becoming stressed by the pressure of having to basically craft the team mostly by himself, and bring everyone along to getting to the finale, such that the stress starts to show in, for example, the season 10 all stars where he gets shirty with being repeatedly called on stage to the point that he's overtly disrespectful.

That progression from being patient, all-encompassing team leader, to stress head, is disrupted by that one ludicrous scene early in season 1 of getting a dungeon record by his own lonesome self.

So portraying his change in character over time in season 2 will be a little difficult. Not impossible, but unlikely to be anything of great dramatic value.

It will probably be majority fan service as season 1 was to a greater extent.

They really kinda screwed the pooch on the translating the novel into the script on The King's Avatar. Tumbled and jumbled it around. Took some stuff out. Added some fluff in. Made the characters different in nature to what's in the novel. To make the second season work they're going to have to put a lot of a decent script for it.
