On What's Wrong with Secretary Kim May 21, 2024
This was supposed to be an easy watch, filler series for downtime in between other shows. Unfortunately the continued adding of new plots without enough time to resolve old ones and the choice to keep certain plot points from the original but change everything else around them, makes those things not make sense. I don’t see this wrapping up satisfactorily. I’ve had enough. I’m out. āœŒšŸ½

Title Liar Game
I can actually get past the bad lighting, weird camera effects, and the background music on steroids, as I think I’m able to watch it how it was intended to be watched in 2007. I imagine the concept back then and the original plot would have been very exciting to 2007 viewers. I see that, and I embrace that but try as I may, I cannot get past the over the top acting. I don’t think I would have been able to in 2007 either. Sometimes the Japanese style scream acting works depending on the series but I don’t think it works here. Still, it was enjoyable and I can see why many viewers still look upon this series fondly.

Ep 29 and we are so far behind! I'm guessing that 4 episodes will be rushed as we now have 4 love stories to sort…
Yup. This is why I started to get annoyed around the ep 25/26 mark because I realised we only had so many episodes left, with the story only being half way through, yet they were releasing filler episodes with 10 minutes of the previous episodes in the next episode.šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Sir Philip’s reactions to Brandon just kills me. He is so funny. šŸ˜‚
I really, really like his character. I enjoyed the Korean counterpart and didn’t think it was possible to like the character more, yet here we are. This version is even funnier. šŸ˜‚

And I’m getting annoyed now by the episode offerings since episode 26. They basically repeat the last ten minutes of the last episode in the first ten minutes of the next episode. Meaning you only get about 10 minutes worth of new scenes. I don’t understand why there isn’t much to these newer episodes, considering there are only 5 episodes to go and we are only just over half way through the story.

The, ā€˜why are they hiding it from sec Kim’ future reveal is already making me mad because you know it’s gonna be the ficklest of reasons.

I said I wasn’t going to drop it but I don’t know now. I might. I’m losing hope for a satisfactory conclusion and I’m starting to care less and less. I feel like I’ve wasted my time and that irks me so much.

Is the uncut version available for free anywhere?
I’m just commenting to say, temper your expectations for the uncut version because it is not much in terms of substance or length. It does not add any depth or extra story. Even the additional seconds of kissing scenes (and I mean seconds), I wouldn’t say is substantive enough to warrant an uncut version. Nor does it add anything to the ending. Therefore, save your money and even if you’re hoping to watch the uncut version for free; you really are not missing much. Trust me.

IKR the characterisation of this version of the brother has no saving grace. It looks like they are going to go all in on making him a pantomime ā€˜villain’. I was re-watching the Korean version this week and remembered why I thought the brother’s character was so unashamedly selfish but even that version wasn’t as twisted as this version where the brother knows he’s not the one that was kidnapped, yet he’s still playing the victim and behaving like an a-hole for shits and giggles.

Lol, I’m still watching but I’m not online a lot these days. I’ve come too far to drop it now. šŸ˜…

why is the kidnapping still a big secret? Makes no sense when everyone is an adult? I wonder what twist the Pinoy…

The second half is definitely the better half. Part of Mew’s skill set is being able to create really good chemistry with his onscreen partner. Because there wasn’t a lot of romance building scenes with the both of them prior to the halfway point, this chemistry was practically non existent. Episodes 1-8 are about a 6.5-7/10 and episodes 9-12 are more like a 7.5-8/10.

Yup. As much as I loved this series, I found the way they propagandised suicide so messed up.

Title Another Miss Oh Spoiler
Oh god how come this drama had rating dropped like this? I mean it was masterpiece at the time its aired, that's…
I read the comments before watching and the impression I got from the comments is not the same ones I got after watching. The ML, after thinking some dude cheated with his fiancĆ©, asked the person he knew not to invest in the dude. He didn’t set him up for fraud or anticipated any of the things that would happen. Side note, the SML’s fate would have happened regardless of the ML’s interference. Even if the ML hadn’t mistaken who the SML was, all he did was tell his friend to pull his investment. The comments here are acting like he committed murder or planned out the downfall of the dude (both things the SML did in the original timeline - though I don’t blame him for taking revenge on the ML, it’s the murder part that’s indefensible).

Also, it seems everyone has missed where the FL said she didn’t love her ex fiancĆ© that much. She says she never allowed herself to love someone fully. That she was more upset over the embarrassment of having him call off the wedding than losing him. It doesn’t make him a bad person, it just means he’s not the one for her and it’s right that she didn’t get back with him. It’s only right that he finds someone who he can be the ā€˜one’ for.

As for the ML and the FL getting together, neither of them have stolen anyone from anyone. They were both single and free to mingle. Their respective others gave them up for whatever reason. This caused them to miss their chance with the leads. That’s life.
