It's irredeemable at this point. They've twisted the story to the point where you can't bring it back imho. I…
I’m at the point where I want to skip his scenes because it’s a serious drop in quality. His scenes feel like an over the top soap opera. I think if he doesn’t come clean to Sec. Kim in the next episode on their ‘date’, there will be no redeeming his character. Knowing that we have 10+ episodes to go and the original storyline has the FL and the brother bonding/getting closer over their ‘shared’ trauma; I don’t see him coming clean anytime soon.

In the Korean version they walked a fine line between making the brother sympathetic and selfish. I bring this up because although I found the brother character quite selfish, I didn’t find him evil since he genuinely believed he went through the kidnapping. However, in this version they have well and truly crossed that line. The Cyrus character is pretty despicable. It seems he’s aware it wasn’t him who was kidnapped and that’s what caused the rift between him and the dad, especially. I’m wondering, is it because they want to create that telenovela feel why they are really leaning into him being a bad guy? Will they be able to pull it back when they are ready to make him sympathetic? 🤔 I have a feeling that they won’t be able to warm the viewers up to him. It would take something pretty drastic and pretty good emotive acting but I’m not sure the actor can pull it off. Though, I’m not against him proving me wrong.

I came here to say just that. Great minds think alike. The acting of the actor who plays Cyrus is so jarring.…

Is anyone planning to watch the Thai version when it is released?
I am. That’s actually how I found this one. I was searching for the Thai version.

I think the retention of viewership has a lot to do with how the story progression is being laid out. It’s moving quite seamlessly through the narrative which makes it an engaging watch and smooth watch (it’s not clunky) and the pacing has a smooth flow too. I won’t comment on the specific content of the show as that’s purely subjective and people can like a show’s content or hate a show’s content. It’s all down to personal taste but the technical aspects of the narrative construction/its physical framework is really its strength.

😂😂😂 I felt bad thinking this. 😅 And if it was only this I could get past it but everything else bad just amplifies how much it annoys me.

I won't go so far as to say that it sucks, it's still watchable especially if you've never watched the original…
Not the ‘wish version’. 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

I don't know how he did it but the brother is even more unlikable in this version than the OG version.
I came here to say just that. Great minds think alike. The acting of the actor who plays Cyrus is so jarring. Whenever he is on screen it’s like I’m watching soap opera quality and not drama quality.

Same. Except it’s been lingering on my to watch list for years. The saying goes, “everything has its perfect timing.”

I was discussing this with someone recently. About how TVN has probably produced the (most) best romcom k-dramas…
It’s a powerhouse. As I mentioned under the comment below, it belongs to a parent company that has hugely talented children companies and subsidiaries that work together to bring us some of the best k-dramas. For example, Studio Dragon (a subsidiary of the parent company) has produced most of the TVN dramas listed above. The in-house talent and resources the parent company has to offer through its different branches is insane.

in my KDrama experience, if it says Studio Dragon, it’s bound to be good.
Facts. And when you realise they produce all of TVN’s dramas and share the same parent company as TVN, you realise why we’ve been gifted with so many k-drama standouts. It’s like having a gifted family all under the umbrella of CJ ENM (parent company). They own or have as a subsidiary: Studio Dragon, TVN, OCN and TVING.

I was discussing this with someone recently. About how TVN has probably produced the (most) best romcom k-dramas of any other channel or studio. The topic came up because I realised how all the k-dramas that are all time favourites, I can remember hearing “15” at the start of each drama and so I went back and checked to see if they were TVN and they were. They should get a lifetime achievement award or something.
