It seems strange to me that they will spend less time on the two relationships they want us to care about; the present day couple as their older selves as this is the conclusion, and the younger version couple; not the origin in terms of chronological order but the origin in terms of who the audience came to care for first. Couple that with giving the most screen time to the depiction of the relationship with older and younger, which for a group of reasons just doesn’t work in a way for the emotions to resonate or for the audience to connect to this iteration of the coupling; it serves as a HUGE miss. I don’t think this is all down to the acting capabilities of the actor who plays older Soon. At least I don’t know if his acting is bad or if it just seems that way because every creative choice that concerns his character is falling flat. It’s interesting to see that compared to the last couple of episodes; episode 1 and the second half of this episode with the younger versions just works. Everything just clicks. I think it was a poor choice to ground this series so heavily in the origins of the older and younger relationship. Anything they were trying to achieve through spending time with this couple could have been achieved in one episode, two max with 5 or 10 minutes dedicated to them in future episodes to tie in the story together.

I apologise. I didn’t mean it in a condescending way but when I read it back it did sound that way to me, that’s why I commented that I was just trying to be funny/tongue in cheek.

It’s really the older ones that are gut wrenching. I know a lot of bl watchers tend to stay away from anything pre-2015 and don’t tend to watch much bl films either. I’m mostly being tongue in cheek though. I like to make people laugh with my comments. Hopefully you found it funny. 🙂

This series has a really interesting dynamic as SM posts has her falling for a music producer and one of the brothers. I think there are only two male leads but who knows. I do believe Bo-geol is Ki-ho.

That’s a really good observation there. I think you may be on to something considering that it’s hinting towards the ‘mum’ being his real mum here in the present.

When they didn’t show her being revealed as the drug runner in the school days, I figured it was a loose end the writers weren’t going to tie up but then she popped back up to work at the bakery which immediately made me suspicious. I guessed she was out for revenge but I had expected the writers to show her meeting up with Zhang Teng’s right hand man but it never happened. So it was 50/50 whether she was seeking revenge on her own or as part of the gang.

Some other people and I were saying from episode 4 or 5 that she was the one who brought drugs into the school so was with Zhang Teng’s gang from the onset.

tbh I don’t like it either but knew it was coming as that part of the story had been unresolved. Zhang Teng’s gang were always going to get their revenge. It was only a matter of time.
