{{Usak is more interested in the chicken shake than the other participants.}}Please...you can't do this. I almost…
Call me paranoic, but this may be a game on his part. Reality shows have it that they are scripted, so I am very cautious about what the participants say and do. Still Usak doesn't look like a typical red flag - well, maybe he does at some point - but upon closer acquaintance he seems to be a rather quiet guy who rages mostly on stage. If he is indeed a bit shy as his words suggest, that would be a nice twist :) But so far I don't see anyone there for him. And aside from the initial fascination, no one has made any effort to get to know him better. Maybe chicken shakes are matchless.

These were the words of truth :) Btw Usak seems to be a nice guy, but more for a fwb/friendly relationship. The problem may be the nature of his work, and it's hard to tell what he's really like - maybe the macho attitude is just an appearance, and in reality he's actually a sensitive guy? Or is he just there for the attention span? Who knows.

On The Boyfriend Jul 13, 2024
The Boyfriend is a pleasant surprise in the aisle of mediocre reality shows and dramas. Despite all the popularity of His Man, it just doesn't appeal to me - perhaps it's a cultural issue (Korean contestants are more reserved), or perhaps an overabundance of these types of programs, which usually don't surprise me with anything (except bad editing :) and artificially created dramas). Anyway, the shows produced by Netflix are quite specific, and the host panel, which bothers some, is a nice change for me (just like in Single's Inferno).

Here seemingly nothing happens either, and yet I binge watched all three episodes. And while I'm curious to see what happens next, I'm glad Netflix didn't release all the episodes this time, because I really need sleep.

But to the point. The participants are interesting and really different. Admittedly, most are not my type, but I'm not theirs either, so it's ok ;) Did anyone actually make a couple that survived after the show? Shows like this are scripted, and the presence of cameras is unlikely to facilitate a real bond.

It's hard to say whether Shin and Dai are really together - although there's a lot to suggest it, but... It could be a coincidence or a mere promotion of the program. Have they stopped following each other on Instagram? Again: perhaps someone didn't like the fact that their online presence suggests a final couple, or maybe they want to prevent further snooping and at least partially protect their privacy and that of their loved ones, maybe they really did break up, as happens when influencers unfollowed each other... who knows? We'll probably find out after the program ends.

Besides Shin and Dai, are there any couples with potential? So far we can only see disappointments (Gensei, Ryota), Kazuto is more absent than he is, and Usak is more interested in the chicken shake than the other participants.

And as much as I root for our power couple, they're not a match made in heaven. They're both the youngest and it shows right away - Shun's negative attitude is only funny on screen, in real life the clash with reality (read: Dai's apparent carefree attitude) can be painful. Plus Dai's behavior can stimulate Shun's fears, which was well seen when Usak or Alan showed up (by the way, everyone drooled at the sight of Usak, except Shun :)). It seems that Ryota would have been a better option for Shun - the few years of difference makes Ryota a good listener, and his understanding and empathy would have been a cure for Shun's fears. Or they would both bore each other to death.

What surprised me was the age of the participants. Reality shows often feature very young people, here most are 25+. Interestingly, the youngest Dai looks the most mature (except for Usak), while Shin still resembles a pretty little boy - a walking advertisement for Asian eternal youth.

By the way - I'm curious to see what else will happen and what dramas await us. Because I'm sure there will be no shortage of them. Stay tuned!

Title I Hear the Sunspot Spoiler
Please spoil me guys, is this a happy ending?
It’s just first episode, but overall yes, it has happy ending.

On I Hear the Sunspot Jun 26, 2024
The first adaptation often has the ability to win hearts and seems even irreplaceable. Hidamari ga Kikoeru in the film version was a beautiful story that one wants to return to. I Hear The Sunspot as a series has the potential to become a perfect complement to the film, which limits screen time. Here we have 12 episodes, so the actors can really excel.

The first episode evokes a sense of nostalgia - the cinematography is stunning, the dialogues are spot on and the characters fit perfectly into the whole. This is just the beginning of the story, but I hope that the creators will maintain the high level by serving us a real feast. For me, this is a comfort drama, light and pleasant, but still dealing with difficult topics - perfect for summer lazy afternoons.

Title At 25:00, in Akasaka Spoiler
Was that message a hint that we will get a season 2?! If so, I want it!!! How will their relationship develop?…
I doubt that the last scene should indicate a second season. Rather, it's a reference to an earlier conversation on the couch, during which Shirasaki was puffed up because Asama will be playing someone else's boyfriend on the set in the future. So they will play together again :)

What do you mean by a cliffhanger? So they break up or it end with the love triangle or it’s a happy ending…
The main couple has an implied happy ending, but at the end of the episode there is an unexpected encounter with someone you can't see, so it can be assumed that this is not the definitive end of the story. Will there be a second season? It's hard to say, it's too early for such information, but it's not a top-notch story, so it's possible it will end just like that.

A short, sweet, comfort series without the unnecessary complications that often appear in KBL, and instead with good kisses.

But there's a cliffhanger at the end, which could mean a second season and problems to come. We'll see. In any case, it's worth watching - good for killing time and stress relief.

Title The Star
Do you think you've seen it all? You'd better think twice, because The Star may surprise you. Negatively. We all make bad decisions, but the creators seem to have forgotten (or simply don't know) what a series that will allow them to make money should look like.

In fact, there is nothing to talk about here. It's one of those mini-series that will go unnoticed. And it's not because it was made by an independent studio, the actors are newcomers and the small budget stings. It isn't. The problem is the as dull as ditchwater script. It's a story with potential that hasn't been exploited at all. It looks like the sensual trailer was bait for the naive - now it's clear why it only consisted of NC scenes, there just wasn't anything else to go on.

Interestingly, the mini-series itself is devoid of NC scenes (after all, it was made available on YouTube, which bans such content), including the scene from the trailer. Would you like to see them? Go ahead, subscribe to our channel and you'll get access to the scenes cut from the basic episode. This would even make sense, since the studio makes its living from donations, but... well, the available episodes are so bad that only a lunatic would waste money to subscribe, yet such people have been found, and guess what? This is probably the worst few dollars ever spent. This exclusive content is it's just a bunch of sexy scenes that couldn't appear on YouTube. Guess for yourself what their context is and at what point in the episode they should be found.

Something clearly went wrong here. Even leaving aside the boring script, bad editing, dull acting and many, many other bad things... Even Kimmon is not enough to save this monstrosity.

The confusion with the episodes only killed this series. I don't know how it looks on the legal platform, but kisskh already has all the episodes - 10 pieces, of which 9 are regular episodes, and the last one is a special episode (BTS). So basically there are 10 episodes as it was supposed to be from the beginning. Still plot is no plotting - for 7-8 episodes nothing happens, and all the romantic ponedness of the characters is closed in the last episode.

It's a waste of time for a series of this type when there are so many productions worth watching. 2024 looked promising for fans of BL dramas, but so far most of the series have been a big disappointment.

You see when 2 people are in love they tend to be horny for each other 24/7 it's normal
You don't have to tell me that. But this fluffy series? It’s the last thing I would expect any kind of horniness from. I wasn't ready for this, that’s all.

I would never have expected that from this series… In episode 8 THEY WERE JUST SCREWING AROUND AT EVERY POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY (wth?!). And the kisses have definitely become better too. I think this show needs a new category - sexy flexy fluff :)

If there will be a 2nd season or special episode, may the merciful god help us :)
A special episode would make sense if it actually explained anything. But the series itself had so little sense in it that I don't think there's much to hope for. Besides, I don't know if you've seen Beyond the Star (story was promising, but execution killed the vibe) - there was a special episode there with one of the couples whose plot was abruptly interrupted in the main series, but... it turned out to be just a conglomeration of already seen scenes from the series with those characters. It was so ridiculous that I didn't even feel disappointed :)

I believe that there is less than a 1% chance of continuing this work of cinematography. It was so bad that even the Park plot twist won't save it. But the truth is that Time the Series is no different from the studio's other creations (what was the point of the Kongtap/Little story or the two of them with the slutty blonde in the lead?), so I think most of us knew what to expect.

On Perfect Propose Mar 3, 2024
Admittedly, I don't agree with the complaints, but I understand why people can think so. JBL's dramas are a genre in themselves - the specific atmosphere and dialogues are so specific that it's hard to confuse it with anything else.

I love JBL despite the scant amount of skinship and the often anti-climactic kisses (read: old, good fish kisses). Visuals are almost always fantastic, and the difficult to assimilate things seen in production most of the time are simply cultural differences. I get that some people may find JBL's slow, boring and even pointless, the same is true of BL's from other countries, for example, most of Thai BL's are simply blowouts based on theoretically handsome actors, with no deeper story behind them, plot holes and bad editing.

Productions from every corner of the world have their pluses and minuses, and JBL's itself is more of a series for connoisseurs of lazy atmospheres, often awkward interpersonal relationships and problems not always encountered in other cultures.

Strange, at times detached dialogues? That may be so, some productions are intended for the domestic market, no one cares about professional translation, and even professional translators give foul play, as seen recently in many more and less popular series.

Importantly, not every series deserves top marks. As with other JBL's productions, there are better and worse ones, too. For me Perfect Propose is a sweet work-related story. Do I wish the series showed more interaction between the main characters? Of course, it would be great if PP had more episodes or a special dedicated to the development of the Kai-Hiro relationship. But it's a story based on a manga, and the manga ended at just such a point :)

Personally, I am grateful that I have the chance to watch practically every production, which I look forward to almost as soon as it is released into the world. Which is not to say that I force myself to watch everything as it flies by.

JBL's just aren't for everyone - I find them relaxing to watch, and productions from Korea, Japan, China or Taiwan are such exotic animals that I don't see every day.
