I didn't want to watch this because of it dealing with teens and romance. That said, I caved in after watching Hidden Love, and I'm happy I did. This show was funny, cute, romantic, up lifting. A great recovery show when you happen to watch a bad romance show.
At it's heart, it's a heart warming, sweet romance story with some comedy and a dash of drama. I really enjoy the casting, the writing, and the OST. If you want a rom-com that will sooth you, after watching other romance shows that get you angry, watch this one as a counter. Like I said, it's a sweet, relaxing story that is fun.
Pretty much a light hearted drama about two characters that had bad relationships. It's an ok way to pass some time, or even check out an actor's earlier works.
They Ruined Moeun’s character after about ep 13. all of a sudden she was insufferable and forcing issues with…
I think Moeun's actions after episode 12 help illustrate why she was failing as an actress. She lacked trust and confidence and was highly insecure. A shame they never explored how she over came that to become a successful actress. At 33, many of her insecurities shouldn't have been as strong as they were. For example when the rain soaked Ex went into jinwoo's house, why didn't she invite herself in as well? Or why did she turn and walk away when she came across the 2 exes talking at the bottom of the stairs on the street, she, being the GF had every right to walk up to her BF and join the conversation.
So there was this fire in the school that seemed to be a very important factor on how things went how they went.…
I don't think they ever focused on the actual stalker after they so him starting the fire. DH was the 3rd leg of a love triangle, and he resented Jiwoon because jiwoon was a weak protector due to his deafness.
melodramatic ending. Meaning the traditional rushed reunion of the main couple just before credit roll. I like melodramas/hate melodramas because the ending typically gives very little time with the main couple.
This series started off strong for me, and then it got derailed by the old "Insecure, lack of trust due to the ex returning and wanting to restart the relationship". I wish the Female lead wasn't so weak/broken that she would allow a non-love interest weaken/destroy her relationship. They never explain why she has a lack of trust, or why she was so insecure. Could be that was why she wasn't that great at acting due to her lack of confidence. Which she seems to gain only after breaking her relationship with jinwoo. I get the show is melodrama, hence why it has to be so harsh on the relationship, but I'm sure they could have done it differently than using an ex.
I really thought this series was entertaining in a soap opera fashion. The "romance" was on rails, meaning no real concern of 3rd wheels or long term break ups. The drama mostly focuses on bad family and bad business practices. All in all, a decent 12 episode time killer.
I love Luc Besson's movie The Professional. IMO, this is better than that, as it lacks the goofy humor. Sure the ending could have been a resolution and not open ended, but it was still a happy ending of sorts. I'm kinda surprised that there hasn't been sequel. Especially with the popularity of Denzel Washington's The Equalizer and Reeve's John Wick movies. Great story, great acting.
Just finished it and much like You are my Glory, it has a lot of unneeded filler which would have made the series so much shorter. It's a cute romantic drama, but it does get bogged down due to trying to build a bigger story than needed. So if you skipped a lot or fast forwarded watching You are my Glory, you'll do the same with this series. But the ending is sweet.
Oh Hae Young [ The main love interest]: Her main issue is healing from being left at the Altar on her wedding day. She has a supportive family and friend. Other than that she seems pretty trusting, and easy for any guy that she is interested in.
Oh Hae Yeong #2 [secondary female main character]: She left her husband to be the day before their marriage. Reason being she was to weak to stand up to his mother. She also has abandonment issues because her mom pretty much left her to rise herself while mom chased after rich men.
Park Do Kyung [Male lead]: IMO, poster man for PTSD. Master of the cold, hot, cold, hot, cold, hot relationship build. Issues: 1 ]Witnessed father's death at a young age. 2] Mother that bleeds him of his hard earned money and interferes with his love life. 2a] Bride to be left him just before their wedding thanks to a conversation with his meddling Mother. 3] Guilt trip caused by his stupidity in not fully investigating Han Tae Jin and Oh Hae Young before messing with their wedding. His messing around caused Tae Jin to dump Hae Young on the day of their wedding. Then, some time later, he finds himself attracted to her and his guilt hinders his relationship. 4] Visions of Hae Young and his death. At First the visions were of her and snippets of their conversation, then they started showing his death. Him seeing his death caused him to pull back and push Hae Young away.
So the main relationship cycles cold to hot several times. Mainly due to the male's issues and the female forcing him to work through them. They never denied that they didn't like each other, it was that the issues kept getting in the way. But on the hot cycles, the couple is all lovy-dovy and stuff.
So for me, I disliked the cycling and the extra drama.. I prefer romantic heavy, drama light series [like Forever and ever or Love between fairy and devil] over something like this that is melodrama heavy. The ending is a good one. Don't get me wrong, I've watched this series twice now, hence why the harsher review.
This is supposed to be a consolation for our heartbreaks but I still can't move on from One and Only :''') *also,…
Watching this series, the main couple is one of the [can't say few because the number has grown to more than a few] handful of couples that make you think/feel that they are in a real life relationship. There are things that they do for each other that only an established couple would do without a pause or thinking about it. Their chemistry is why I watched the whole thing, then wept because it left a hole in my heart because it was over. I hate shows that leave that vacant feeling, because they were so good, but now it's over and all you can do is re-watch it at some point.
Why is his step-mom such a c*nt??? Like what does she have to gain from being so mother f*cking RUDE to Shi Yi?…
I'm not Asian or Korean, but here is what I think about it. Their family is a "powerful" and wealthy one. Therefore potential marriage partners must be on an equal level, and offer something to the family for a wedding to occur. For example Tang, Chen's ex-fiancé that married his younger brother came from a wealthy family that offered business contacts and such. Shi Yi had none of that to offer, thus wasn't a fit match for Chen at all. The fact that Chen went against the leader of the family [His step-mother] and refused to listen is the source of Shi Yi's difficulties with his step-mom. It's a popular theme in Asian dramas, parents arranging marriages for their adult kids and the adult kids rebelling against the arranged marriage. Which establishes a sub plot/drama line.
The ending was ok, a bit less than I had hoped for, which kinda lowered my expectations about the series over all. It's a great series, great casting, writing, and crew. It's just that the ending felt incomplete and rushed a bit. It's still well worth the time to watch the series, because the wonderful cast that brought it to life. The ending was a let down, but that is because my expectations were high. It's still a very good ending though, don't get me wrong.
The casting was great, the romantic interests had warm and believable interactions. Sure the story slows down at points, but it's with it when you get to the end. A rare gem for a fantasy series.
I has no idea that this was a sequel and watched it by itself. The chemistry between the ML and FL was awesome, it was like they were a real life couple. It was great watching their relationship grow and mature over the course of the series. There was a plot point that could have been left out, but then a drama isn't drama without drama, right?
I re-watched the ending and for some reason I feel like she died in the landslide and the scene with her on the beach at the end was just a memory as he walked down the beach [he lost a leg in the landslide]. Hence the title Memories of love. Typically if she had been alive, wouldn't they have embraced/kissed each other on the beach after reuniting after a time spent apart while he recovered? The most moving part of the series to me was the father and his fight with Alzheimer's.
I get the show is melodrama, hence why it has to be so harsh on the relationship, but I'm sure they could have done it differently than using an ex.
