She is a concubine's daughter and acts like a servant of Yunxi. In the game of thrones in this story, her chances are very slim if not unexistant.

imo, she wanted to show that bull who blackmailed her and tried to dominate her in the ancestral hall that a Rong woman does whatever pleases her. She had an urgent need to pass the night elsewhere to humiliate him. She likes Lu, ofc, and probably even wanted to have sex with him, but that was not the right moment (she was enraged with another man) for them to make love and Lu did well to refuse it while keeping her in bed in order to prevent her to do smth stupid.

Not choosing sides makes her "cautious" in my vocabulary, not "calculating rival"; being able to correctly assess the situation and sense the danger makes her "intelligent" not "formidable". But it's ok, these are just words, lets not discuss them further, call her formidable and calculating if you prefer so.

My point was she indeed sensed the danger coming from these two combined. When her maid reported her of He secretly entering Yunxi's coach, she even said smth like "The wind is rising, the disaster is following". And we both agree she's a very smart lass.

The point of our disagreement are the consequences of the crime for Yunxi. You've said: "if Shanbao is dragged into the mess as a co-conspirator in Yang’s murder, the family’s reputation will take a devastating hit". I can agree the family reputation may be damaged, but Yunxi can care less about the family reputation. She is only interested to bring Shanbao down and that's the reason why she planned and helped He to commit the crime. With Shanbao down, she has the best prospects to "restore the family reputation". Period. The blind girl, daughter of a maid the granny hated is out of the game of thrones in this story, as well as the unruly brat and the one who acts like Yunxi's servant, born by a concubine... not to mention the one surnamed Shen.

If her plot with He is exposed, obviously, there will be certain bad consequences for her too. I can agree with you even on this point to a certain degree. But they will not be that serious, she will not be handed to the authorities or kicked out from the family. She wasn't the material executor of the crime and will deny or distort the reasons why she helped He. Bc. that's how things work in that family and that's how the granny's mind (and blind eye) functions.

Indeed. Besides, I remember when RSB told Yang bull in the ancestral hall that the husbands of Rong women should be compatible with them for the family to flourish. As Lu is compatible with RSB, I also think Bai is compatible with her.

You know, I think it was the blind sis who organised Wan'er's rescue. Sending a tip to RSB... she was on the plantation, it could have been too late. Beside being cautious, the blind sis is more intelligent than other sisters, that's why she is relatively safe. She had tried to enter He's good graces when he was tied by RSB but he refused her later, revealing his brutal hater psycho nature. So, she turned to Bai who is more similar to her in character and nature (the reason why she didn't want to be with him at first) and likes her. Hearing from her maid, RSB's maid Yang'er was in Yunxi's courtyard receiving gifts with maids from other courtyards, she became sus. Aware Yunxi made an iron pact with He, she immediately concluded the two criminals were plotting smth in that moment and that the RSB's maid will be used in that plot. So she headed to Huanlin courtyard to check on "new tea buds". Along the way, she probably heard Bai was invited by He for dinner (she and Bai were supposed to meet that evening) and connected the missing dots. He would never invite Bai for no reason, he hated his guts after she admitted they were dating. And was a perfect scapegoat if He was planning to commit a crime. For how much she is cautious, she doesn't want Bai harmed either, she likes him...

RSB didn't plan, just improvised after getting a tip from (probably) the blind sis who sensed He will commit the murder framing the scholar. The blind sis maybe even took certain precautions on her own given she was in Huanlin courtyard checking on "new tea buds" while RSB was away.

If you want to know the motivation, just close your eyes and imagine what will be the outcome of He freak-YunXi plan to murder Wanwan:
- the unruly sister will testify the shoe print was Wanwan's (and that's true)
- the authority investigating Yang's death will close the case with Wanwan as a Yang's killer (everybody knows she is not of sound mind, so the motivation will be her mental instability) and with Bai scholar as Wanwan's killer (who committed the murder in a drunken state).
- as a person who always protected Wanwan, RSB will be seen either as an accomplice to Yang's murder or as a person who covered for the killer. RSB will definitely be "brought down from the pedestal", as He freak said.
- YX will be praised by her grandma for helping to close two hot cases fast without harming the family's reputation.

It won't go that way, but that was their plan in simple words.

I don't know if we are watching the same drama.
It's crystal clear that the discovery of the owner of the footprint by the unruly sister was a game changer for YX:
- the unruly brat will testify the shoe print was Wanwan's (and that's true)
- the authority investigating Yang's death (which none of the Rong sisters fear at all btw) will close the case with Wanwan as a Yang's killer (everybody knows she is not of sound mind) and with Bai scholar as Wanwan's killer (in a drunken state of mind).
- as a person who always protected Wanwan, RSB will be seen either as an accomplice to Yang's murder or as a person who covered for the killer. RSB will definitely be "brough down from the pedestal", as He freak said.

Ofc. the things won't go the way YX and He planned, bc RSB got a tip in advance (probably from the blind sis), but even if YX is discovered to have colluded with He freak in his killing plan, what would grandma do to her? Hand Yunxi over to the authorities bc she killed a retarded cousin suspected of murder? What will happen with the Rong's family reputation if she hands her to the authorities? What leverage will remain to the old lady over RSB without YX? She can at most be punished according some "family punishment", although I don't see what rule YX broke.
"The Rong girls cannot do only two things: marry outside the house and damage family's reputation". Everything else is allowed, including a plan to kill another Rong girl. That manor is a better ground for killers and schemers to go rampant than those in the Squid Game.

The bracelet can only be with the Yang's killer. And, although the twin bro cannot be ruled out, in this moment, the greatest suspect for that crime is He psycho.

The perspective changes accordingly to the presumption we make. If we presume Yunxi is the greatest threat (for the FL) in the house full of snakes, then this action may seem ill-timed and reckless.
But lets first analyse what we've actually seen happening. We've all seen YX lured the maid while He made the scholar drunk and then drowned Wanwan (brought to him by the same maid) wearing scholar's clothes in order to shift the suspect towards the scholar. The unruly sister will testify the shoe print was Wanwan's (and that's true) and the authority investigating Yang's death (which none of the Rong sisters fear at all btw) will close the case with Wanwan as a Yang's killer and scholar as Wanwan's killer (in a drunken state of mind). As a person who always protected Wanwan, RSB can be harmed either as an accomplice to Yang's murder or as a person who covered for the killer. RSB will definitely be "brough down from the pedestal", as He freak said. So, it is not a bad plan. It won't work bc someone allarmed RSB (probably the blind sis), but even if discovered, will YX collusion with He bring any serious consequence to YX?
Now, if you remain stick to this perspective (YX is the greatest threat), you'll think: yes, she'll be harshly punished.
But if you change the perspective and think of how their bad deeds never got punished (bc. the old lady never wanted to seriously educate or punish them), then you'll think: no, she'll get out at most with some bland "family punishment". Can any of us imagine the old lady to hand Yunxi over to the authorities bc she killed a retarded cousin suspected of murder trying to wrap up the Yang's murder case as fast as possible? What kind of leverage will the old lady have on RSB if she hands YX over to the authorities and what will happen with the Rong's family reputation? YX can do and could have done all what she has done simply because she can, she is allowed, she won't suffer any serious consequence. Remember the motto "Rong girls cannot do only two things: marry outside the house and damage family's reputation". Everything else is allowed.

You're exactly my case. I've watched Silent Tides almost religiously ep after ep. But it was airing around the noon, so I've got everything ready for lunch to eat while watching... For Glory I have to wake up at 5 a.m. even on Sunday, dam'it!😂

oh, you were referring to the level of tension this murder brings into the narrative. At this point, we've passed 1/3 - actually, an ideal time to raise the tension bringing the plot on another level or arc.
Don't expect the evil sis (who is not grey anymore, but black black) will soon get what she deserves. The plot will deal with scenes related to two "deaths" (one real and one faked) for at least another 4-5 episodes and there's also a cold case (Mrs Yang, aka Mrs Liang) that must be wrapped, closing this arc between ep 18-20 or even later. And even then, I am afraid grandma will still be willing to back her, especially after knowing Wanwan is still alive, so she'll get out of it with max. some sort of "family punishment". For the He freak the case is different: if he was truly responsible for Yang bull's murder (ie., if the death was not an accident, due his drunken state but a premeditated murder), he won't easily come out of that s**t.
So, I think it isn't early, we'll see.
