Maybe we have misunderstood YQ, he's sounding more promising.
yes, I've misunderstood him, too. Imo, the actor playing YQ doesn't have a smart face to start with and combined with a loser role, it didn't seem promising. I've forgotten "hidden C-drama weapons", such as drugs that make people appear dead 🙄 resulting in an unexpected coup de théâtre: the beauties are alive! 😁👌

I see your point now. We know the motif for murder (jealousy), but we don't know the exact course of the crime. Rethinking, Zhang nanny behaviour is not much of a normal...

I haven't read the novel, don't know if her mother's death is as described in the drama... If it's the same, then the author didn't do a minimal research about this poison, in countries like Japan, where at least 50 persons die x year of this poison, people will certainly lough hearing it provoked stomach illness with convulsions, prolonged weakness and depression for months (as her mother's symptoms were described in the drama). Pufferfish organs, skin and pins contain lethal toxin called tetrodotoxin (TTX), just 2 mg is enough to kill an adult human. The death is practically instantanious, that's why there's no antidotes, no time to take it, TTX paralyses the entire neuro-system and the poisoned patient dies in seconds from suffocation being the nerves which allow respiration completely out.
Therefore, don't dwell too much on "how", it's a work of fantasy anyways 😁

Who poisoned Yining's mom and why? Madam Chen, wife of 1st son of Luo from 1st Luo Household. Why? Jealousy. Ideas,…
The gluttonous 6th Lady hinted the answer: her mother invited a cook from her town to prepare a pufferfish (she tasted back then as a child). Only a specialized cook can extract a poison, contained in internal organs of the fish, taking care their poisonous content not to come in contact with the fish flesh. Madam Chen then probably soaked the tea block gifted by 2nd Luo to his wife (FL's mother) with that poison.

This story tends to remind me of ‘Blossom in Adversity’, this FL seems to be very similar to Hua Zhi’s character.
It's a blend of already seen plots, as someone said above, they are written using old templates and then combining them. The ground family story (evil stepmother, dumb halfsister, biased father) is from The Double, business oriented FL is from BiA, hidden identity from some other, as well as ML-underdog hiding his skills and intentions...

It's also entertaining to guess where certain plots are coming from and how are theu combined to avoid accusations for plagiarism...

hi friend, do you watched the first episodes? whats your opinion? do you recommend? i'm asking bc i'm focusing…
As I've understood some hints, the Leitmotiv is "letting go of obsessions". Main leads are still both locked in their obsessions: FL is locked in the tragedy of her native village and can't get over the loss of her friend or brother who saved her life, while ML is locked in a promise he will protect his sworn brother's wife and son, whatever the cost.
But they've already started to form opinions on each other and this thinking will certainly bring them closer, imo. they are (imagined) compatible characters to form a couple, but this thing is due to the original author (and the two actors are capable of delivering that change of heart), I'm a bit worried about the screen adaptation, when we don't see the scriptwriter's name in the cast... it's regularly a bad omen for a drama.
On Snowy Night Timeless Love Oct 9, 2024
The pace and fighting scenes are ok, the FL role seems tailored for Li Qin, she feels so natural in this dettached character, the setting and music are more or less fine (it isn't fine when the lyrics translation overlap the dialogues), but deep down I still feel certain discomfort...
When I don't see the name of the scriptwriter among the cast, I can't help but to interpret it as a bad omen for the consistency of the story. 🙄

This drama is too much. HQY and his fine self always lurking around. That's what I'm talking about. The tea is…
I agree with you, this one is more promising than that one we've dropped for absence of plot and... many more things.
But the disturbing elements are present even here, like FL's make-up, I can't stand when the lipstick is overboard and foundation stiff so much the actors can't move their face muscles... then, the music which slows down the pace and all other things, like one ep a day, and that one is shorter, you can watch it only when you put smth cooking on the stove and when the ep is at the end, it means the meal is cooked

Most of the time, she looks like she is afraid to move her face muscles.
She is not a great actress but I fear she doesn't move her face muscles because of the heavy make-up on her face.

Apart from the make-up (I trully appreciate the fact the make-up artist disclosed his identity, well, boy, you've done an awfull job), so far this thing is nice

Dai Yue Qing's M&A of the River Gang (in ep 15) was so impressive that I suspect the fact could have really taken place. I've searched but I'm not a Mandarin speaker, so if anyone knows more about the spreading of counterfait money at that time, please, let me know.

I've noticed (in his WoF and in this one, he included the detail of PLA soldiers sleeping on the streets of Shanghai, because CCP ordered not to disturb citiziens, which indeed happened) the scriptwriter is a history freak, but I just want to know is it his imagination (helped by the gorgeous actress) or the true fact

a great actress

Well, I'm not sure how much longer I will hang on. With all the new dramas getting ready to drop especially Kdramas…
I've told you, the plot is weak and now is turning even worse, there's no character to root for or to get attached to, especially female characters are all bad in their own way, one dumb, another a psycho and the third a stalker. I've tried to take it as smth to switch off the brain and laugh, but there's nothing to laugh about either, there's no comedy.
Now I'm watching it (FF-ing) only out of curiosity: how bad a script can go.

I'll never root for Huang Ying and Shang Yu, only root her with the therapist
Agree, a complete stalker, if she was a male, we would all be horrified by such a behaviour
Replying to Nanoush Sep 26, 2024
worth watching?
No, imho.
The plot is bad and is turning worse, I am FF-ing most of the dumb dialogues.
You have nobody to root on, espc. female characters are flat and annoying: 1st FL is rush, dumb, and unable to compromise, 2nd is an ambitious bi*ch and psycho, 3rd is too childish and total stalker. Male leads are not much better, very bidimentional, a viewer can't feel any empathy or connection with them unless in certain rare moments. ML suffers a heavy disabilty but he is so overly self-focused and self-confident that you can't feel empathy even for him.
The music and outfits are the only thing you can watch/listen here.

Good point on the naming of Green Light workshop. It's not the best costume drama out there right now but so far…
It's watchable only due to the fact the production put some dime and effort in setting creation, music and actors are fit/convincing in acrobatic scenes, but I think we will all get bored after the truth on their "entangled fate" is revealed to these somewhat dumb protagonists and this should happen very soon, we've already seen 1/3 of the entire drama (usually it is around 1/3rd of a drama when the hints on what to expect next are given to the audience).
Because there's nothing more in this fantasy-romance* plotline, that is clear from both the trailer and the synopsis, beside the fact both the power-struggle and sister's harmful behaviour are unsufficiently explained and consequently unconvincing. And, as I've said above, the third couple is intrinsicly illogical, added just for the purpose of story-streaching, otherwise the drama couldn't last 24 eps.

*I've seen someone stating this is a romcom and it is wrongly tagged as "comedy", well, till now, I haven't seen any comedy in it.

I can't help but feel sorry for the uncle. Being used by the bitch sister just to get things.🙄 And I don't…
He is not much better, for the throne, he is ready to harm his nephew, the only reason why he still haven't killed him is that the nephew is good in pretending to be carefree and disinterested in power games...
