As far as I remember, there’s the whole SML arc where both leads are written a bit too silly. She genuinely believes the SML likes her, they start going out, the ML gets jealous but refuses to communicate, and it’s all played for comedy. Personally, I found it overly goofy and unnecessarily drawn out. This storyline could’ve been wrapped up in one or two episodes, but instead it was stretched much longer. Watching it while the drama was airing made it feel even worse—this arc alone took three to four days since they were airing one episode per day, which really tested my patience. There is no noble idiocy or the return of an ex lover or anything

Facts. He is my favourite Chinese actor and he's a genuinely great guy. Can't say I can watch all his dramas, but most of them yeah :)

I feel you, honestly—I’m oscillating between trying to find reason and just being plain frustrated, lol. Agreed about the slapping (though I’m pretty sure our boy might secretly like it 😅). I get so annoyed with the lack of communication, but then again… she doesn’t even do that with her own family, so it’s sadly consistent with her character. Not saying it’s right, just… consistent.

I’ve also seen a lot of people disappointed in LJL's “decline,” but honestly, he’s been pretty steady since the start—especially in his dynamic with RSB. The banter, the scheming, the playful, proactive side… it’s all still there. Since this series leans more female-centric, in some episodes it was kinda expected that he’d take a more supportive role—but part of me also wanted a bit more of his story.

We still have six episodes left, and even though the previews are a little confusing, to me I’m really hoping they don’t reduce him to just a sad loverboy, but then again you never know with them cdramas.....I'm torn, ngl...

I get where you’re coming from, and I’ll admit I did complain at some point that the emotional dynamic felt uneven. But the more I sit with it, the more it makes sense because of who RSB is. Her character is honestly legendary in how consistent she’s been. She isn’t cold, she’s contained. Love for her isn’t loud pursuit, it’s trust, boundaries, and calculated vulnerability.

Given that, it actually makes sense that her counterpart has to be more openly proactive—otherwise we’d be watching a glacier politely admire another glacier across the dinner table, occasionally melting during… extracurricular activities.

RSB has stayed true to herself throughout: quiet, strategic, willing to be misunderstood if it protects the bigger picture. LJL, on the other hand, absolutely went on an emotional carousel—but that, too, fits his character. He’s the one learning, oscillating, catching up to the weight of what she already carries.

So yes, the feelings may look uneven on the surface, but underneath it’s just two very different languages of love. I’m really waiting to see how the remaining episodes conclude their story, because that ending will matter a lot in how this dynamic ultimately lands.

I know, I do love that part. Still conflicted about the whole slap thing tho, ngl, when that dude slapped her and her husband basically did nothing, that doesn't sit well with me, but he does take care of her so much 😭
