Thatās totally fair, especially for a romance. If the visual or emotional pairing doesnāt click early on, itās really hard to stay invested no matter how good the story is. For me, his visuals fall more into the character and presence category rather than conventional, polished perfection. He has a slightly mature, lived-in look that really depends on styling, role, and how the camera uses him. I didnāt click with his visuals immediately either, but over time I started appreciating the expressiveness and the way his face carries emotion. I will say, with this one, the dynamic shifts a bit as the episodes go on and the chemistry becomes more about rhythm and comfort than instant sparkābut if it still doesnāt land for you, thatās completely valid. Not every flavour is meant to work for everyone, and romance dramas live or die on that connection.

If Iād seen him first in the republican drama with Zhang Jing Yiāthe one where he completely won me overāIād probably feel exactly the same way. First impressions really do a lot of heavy lifting.
And I agree, he clearly has that kind of star quality that goes beyond āperfect visuals.ā My reply was more to the OPās point, because I understand the dilemmaāsometimes a pairing clicks instantly, and sometimes you need to sit with the flavour a bit longer. And sometimes⦠itās just not your cup of tea, and thatās perfectly fine too.
I don't know why but i find their visuals not to match at all. Maybe because he has such a mature face with some…
I get where youāre coming from. Everyone has their own aesthetic palette, and that initial visual harmony (or lack of it) really shapes the impressions. I canāt deny that I visually loved the FL with CL and HMH more. That said, I still really enjoy this pairingātheir chemistry feels comfortable and natural to me, including visually.
Funny enough, when I first saw this ML (in a costume drama), it actually took me a while to warm up to him too, so I relate to that hesitation. But somewhere along the way, he completely won me over.
The good part about it is that all episodes will probably air just in time for a seamless binge. Yes, the subtle expressions he has only for her are swoon!
Yeees, also SOM has such a winter vibe overall, it caught me in the perfect mood to watch it, even if a lot of ppl mind find it slow. Yes, I loved DAE OST a loooot. I feel like LBL will be in my top favourite modern dramas, along with TFF and While You Were Sleeping
CXXās smile at 10:52 ep 20āThere are moments like this when he himself, the real person, seems so into LYX.…
Iāve wondered about this too. From the BTS clips, he does seem genuinely fond of herāhe clearly finds her cute and hilariousābut Iāve noticed the same kind of ease and natural warmth with her other co-stars as well, like Cheng Lei and Hou Ming Hao. That makes me think thereās something about her personality and demeanor that puts her male co-stars at ease and invites those unguarded reactions.
Where the line falls between spontaneous feeling and very fine acting is hard to tellāand honestly, that ambiguity is part of what makes those moments so compelling. Whether instinct or intention, it works beautifully on screen.

Also, in case you haven't checked this out, a drama released earlier this year called ''Deep Affection Eyes'' and its pretty good, very moody and aesthetic and some interesting writing. I loved it a lot.
