Ah, the perils and joys of watching an ongoing drama lol, I def get the joy of hanging out in the comments while watching it in real time, I love it A LOT, but 1 ep a day....idk especially if they will show us the angst and break up era....I'd rather watch it in one go and then come back to the comments to discuss it because there will be people tunning in or that started the drama later....I'm trying to find something to watch while a couple of episode pile up but idk if I'm strong enough 😭

Hahaha, exactly! 😂 I think that distinction is so important, especially because a really strong performance can make us instinctively fill in gaps that perhaps aren't actually there in the writing. Jing Boran is doing a fantastic job of making Luan Nian feel layered and fascinating, so it's genuinely interesting to wonder where the character ends and the aura begins.

And yes, the fact that presentation can make us more forgiving is probably one of the most interesting things about a lot of discussions here. I can fully admit that Jing Boran's face card has made me overlook things I would probably side-eye much harder from an ordinary-looking man. 😭😂 At least some of us are self-aware enough to recognize the bias!

And honestly, “extremely photogenic emotional damage” deserves to become the official diagnosis for this entire comment section. 😂✨

I agree with this😂 The one-episode-a-day schedule can really kill the momentum for me, especially with a relationship-driven drama where so much depends on the emotional build-up between scenes.

I’ve had this happen with too many dramas I was initially enjoying, where waiting 24 hours for the next tiny piece of the story somehow makes everything feel much slower and more disjointed than it actually is. 😭

So I think I might just let a few episodes pile up and watch them together instead. 😂 I’d rather experience the remaining episodes with some actual momentum than spend the next two weeks analysing one episode at a time and slowly losing my mind. 💀

This is such an interesting take, and I really appreciate the distinction between a character being compelling to watch and actually being well-developed. 👏 Jing Boran brings an enormous amount of charisma to Luan Nian, and I do think the “what if he looked completely ordinary?” question is worth asking. 😂

And honestly, the reactions to him are fascinating in themselves. Being exceptionally attractive and charismatic clearly makes certain behaviours much easier to romanticise or excuse, to the point where somehow the woman ends up being held responsible for the man's questionable choices. 😭 That says quite a lot about how presentation can influence the way we read a character.

I also especially agree that understanding why someone behaves a certain way isn't the same as actually seeing them grow. That distinction gets overlooked so often in romance dramas.

Yes, that was very sweet and a part of why I softened for him. It makes sense since we are already halfway and there is a big time jump incoming, I hope the quality of the story and continuity did not suffer because of the episodes cut.

Fr fr, tbf a lot of people are like that, avoid confronting the issue right away, either because they don't want to get too emotional, are too proud or simply don't want to give in by admitting that situation got to them, so I can understand that part up to a point. In their case it is detrimental they communicate, because they're stressing us out!! I feel like the only collateral here is not the leads but the viewers 🤣🤣🤣
