That’s totally fair — we all have different tastes and ways of connecting with characters, especially when…
Don't worry 😊 I’m the same — there are a few actresses I just don’t quite vibe with, even if fans get a bit worked up about it. At the end of the day, our time is limited, so it makes more sense to spend it on things we genuinely enjoy.
There seems to be more to it. Since it's still unclear what YBL's motive really is. LJL already had doubts because…
Yes, that is why I was confused. It really does feel like there’s more going on beneath the surface, especially with YBL’s motives still being deliberately left murky And I agree about the books: their content almost feels secondary to how RSB weaponized them. Using the situation to eliminate Jiang while simultaneously currying favor with Luo for the Empress Dowager’s birthday fits RSB’s usual political calculus. Framing Jiang’s actions as a petty grudge over the book seems more like narrative misdirection than a complete explanation.
Recent trope that really keeps bugging me is the treatment of love interests of both ML and FL.ML at the first…
I actually found myself thinking along similar lines. The whole “RSB and her many suitors” situation was entertaining to watch on the surface, but emotionally it does start to feel uneven. Watching LJL constantly run around, put out fires, and quietly carry the weight while she remains composed and seemingly unaffected can be a bit painful from a romantic perspective.
As a woman, I genuinely admire RSB — she’s exceptional, calm, principled, and undeniably powerful. She’s the kind of FL who will always stand at the top. But when it comes to the romance, I can’t help but feel there’s an imbalance in emotional investment.Sure, she never explicitly led anyone on, and ultimately it is LJL’s choice to act on his feelings. Still, part of me wishes she’d allow herself to show just a little more warmth or affection.
That said… I also recognize that this restraint is very much in character for her, so I’m torn. It makes sense narratively, even if it’s slightly frustrating emotionally. Hopefully, as we move deeper into LJL’s plot, we’ll finally get to see her support him more openly.
Wait, maybe I missed something — the Jiang Governor resented the Wei clan and essentially doomed them over some books? I get that it’s more about the context behind it, but still… I thought his motives would be stronger/heavier?
I get why it looks annoying at first glance, but a lot of this is actually explained if you pay close attention…
Yes, fair, really hope they won't go in that direction. I like their communication and dynamic so far. Yes! Loved how things went down at the wedding! He is great at supporting her, today's episode as well. They're not together yet but watching them already feels healing ✨✨✨

Yes, agreed. I mean I like how he did explain it to her later but I bet she would've handled this like a queen even without him. Also, wild take but this might be a foreshadow as to what will the ML do if something real serious will happen and he will either shut her out without explaining or do something irrational again. But that's just pure speculation from my part, who knows.... I do like both leads a lot so far✨🤌
With 10 episodes left it is to be expected that a lot of the plot still be unresolved, otherwise the series would…
Absolutely. I just hope they don’t rush through the more important plot resolutions toward the end—CDramas do have a tendency for compressing too much into the final stretch.
Why is everyone waiting for the capital episodes? Is anywhere stated that they're the best episodes or the more…
I don’t think there’s any official confirmation, to be honest—mostly speculation and expectations from viewers. Personally, I’m quite welcoming the shift in narrative space. The Rong family and Linji arc, while enjoyable, has started to feel a bit exhausting. I’d also really appreciate more focus on the ML, since his backstory is compelling in its own right and hasn’t been explored nearly enough.
I know, right?!? It's crazy. Is the father hating on him because he's an architect? I think his injury must be…
Same, it's a recurring theme apparently which makes sense because human nature is predictable(((( Yeah, not a fan of that part AT ALL but I get it, it's norm in the culture. We'll get some jealous ML scenes at least lol

I actually appreciated Xu daughter's input, she's more likeable than I thought, at least so far
