I get what you mean, and logically it does feel strange when she barely knew him and he didn’t even treat her well. At the same time, I think that’s actually more common than we like to admit. There are so many cases where two people have very little interaction, yet one person becomes completely consumed anyway. It defies logic, it’s overwhelming, and in some situations the lack of real interaction actually makes it worse because it allows an idealized version of that person to grow — one that has very little to do with reality.
I’m slightly embarrassed to admit it, but I’ve been there myself years ago: barely talked to the guy, yet it took me a long time to snap out of that crush.
