I completely understand where you’re coming from—those recycled tropes can feel especially frustrating when the original material already offers so much depth and nuance 😅
At the same time, I think expecting a fully faithful, page-to-screen adaptation might inevitably lead to some disappointment. The shift from novel to drama comes with its own constraints—runtime, pacing, production choices—so a degree of reinterpretation is almost unavoidable.
That being said, I do feel this team made a genuine effort to honor the essence of the source material. Even with the changes, there’s a clear sense of respect for the original story ✨
I also kind of wish we, as viewers, could hold space for the positives alongside the critiques. It’s completely valid to feel frustrated—everyone connects with stories differently—but when the conversation leans only into what’s lacking, it can eclipse what the drama actually did well. So while it may not be a perfect adaptation, it does stand out as a more considered and sincere one—and that, in itself, is worth appreciating 🙌

I have read the novel back when this was first announced and I liked it a lot. The ML is extra unhinged in the novel, and while he is the one who tries to cut ties with her, he just can't stay away, it's delicious and satisfying the way he is chasing her after this so I can't be mad lol. Bro is constantly in the ''wanting to eat the FL'' mode 🤣🤣🤣 They did soften the ML a lot in the drama, which I'm enjoying as well. I like both the book version and the drama version of this story so in my POV I got a double treat ahahaha
