I'm not annoyed at some of the creative changes regarding the plot. I'm annoyed at how they've butchered these characters. It's infuriating how much they've diluted the ML's character and turned the FL into this cold-hearted person who's only out for revenge.

It might be better to watch the drama first then read the novel. The latter is almost always better. lol

Oh, the groveling and simping is only getting started. They turned LMT into a cold-blooded blood-thirsty woman, and CXZ into a passive love-sick puppy. In the novel, these characters are so different and so much better. These drama directors must be stopped. lol

Note to self: NEVER watch a drama adaption of a novel that you enjoyed. 😂

It's a garbage adaptation of a great novel.

Spare me, you don't need to explain anything further—I understood you the first time. However, I still believe everything was overly dramatized, and the fallout doesn't match the genuinely loving and carefree relationship they had. You could have shared your opinion without the subtle personal insult.

She also literally threatened to set him on fire. The stabbing was unnecessary and over-dramatized. And him offering to repay his lies with his life was even dumber. Like dude, have some self-respect. You literally saved her life. She could've simply said her peace and walk away. You're free to like it, but I found it cheap and unearned. That doesn't make me a person who is not watching with my "brain firing on all cylinders", you pretentious asshole.

Many writers don't know how to write a strong female character without making her a Mary Sue or turning her into a sociopath. What they've done to LMT's character is a disgrace. That said, having her keep the hairpin is a nice touch. I have a feeling that even after being stabbed and stupidly offering that ungrateful woman his life, CXZ is the one who will do all the groveling and apologizing.

That's fair to like their new creative direction. I'm personally not a fan. But saying that they adapt it well is false. Because not only did they fundamentally changed the characters and their dynamics, their new creative direction is so far inferior to the novel.

They literally made up their own story. lol

That's the only way some writers know how to write a strong female lead. They need to make her vengeful, arrogant, and bloodthirsty. This version of LMT does not exist in the book. This is drama creation. Hopefully the writers can redeem this verion of LMT by humbling her at some point in the story. But I'm not too hopeful.

Well said! These Dramas know their audience very well. Thank God some of these novels are still raw and unfiltered.

Yup, they're impossible to make well due to censorship and directors who believe too much in their mediocre artistic visions.

I absolutely hate what they do to these men. What I love about CXZ from the novel is that while he's whipped for her, it's mutual and he's keeps his domineering edge. The drama glosses over the fact that LMT also lusts after CXZ very early.

You have some ways to go. LMT knows about her Lu Wen identify in chapter 89. She remembers her Lu Wen identity in chap 161, but forgets about her life with the CXZ. She gains all of her memories back in the very last chapter.

Thank God I watch The Story of Ming Lan before reading the novel. If I read the novel first, I would not have enjoyed the drama as much. lol

I tried watching My Journey To You, but I didn't like the ML for some reason. So, I dropped it. I tried picking it back up, but then I heard that it was an unfinished story.

It's a different story at this point. But i'm glad you're enjoying it. It's hard for us novel readers. lol
