I can't even count the number of times I have heard "DIAAN XIAAA" in this voice in a gazillion dramas. The voice modulation is also pretty common for many chinese opera styles. Its actually not odd at all despite the fact that she is deliberately going overboard with the gestures but I can understand why it might seem odd if you are used to hearing less tonal languages...e.g. korean which is pretty flat!
