As for me I thought a lot of things were so over the top -- like flexible "wobble" swords. I thought it was funny and unrealistic, but then I started to read more chinese novels where translators often explains such small details. An hell, they DID have such weapons. So as for now I think they are quiet serious about historical details, they can exaggerate for the sake of the drama, but is seems okay with Qigong flying, which we have in almost every historical drama.
