I really enjoy that the second ML is a whole 3D character. Too often they are just there to lose to the ML.

The way I was rooting for Gu Lan in the beginning and now she and her mother might just be the most rage-inducing concubine-sister pair because they are evil and dumb.

The FL met real Zhaoxi only one time when they played chess. Any attraction only went so far as she, who is an assassin trained to put her feelings behind the task ahead, thought it would be ok to marry him to get the leadership position. All other feelings and her rethinking who she wants to be came when the crown prince started acting as Zhaoxi.

Both the madam and the concubine married Gu Jinchao's father against their parents' wishes? What love spell did he put on them in their youth? 💀

Hedgehog Sheng with Jin Lun would make a cute little comic.

The story walking back the FLs development for convenience is so annoying. Her experiences with Lu Huai had every right to change her view on the world. Then it erased her arc one development with amnesia. In arc two she learns all of one "race" aren't good or bad just because they belong to it. What does the writing do in the third arc? Walk that back as well.

The story thematizes power whether through skill and immortality. The ML knows the cost of power, it makes people cruel - intentionally or not - and his people's power is tied to the fact that their power will ultimately dominate them by causing them to maim everyone around. If you want a sillily powerful ML without any commentary, this is just not the story for you.

They are not unrelated people at all. They are very much part of the main story. After all the story is about how humans get treated under sect rule and the ML wants to be human.

I think the water curse had simply progressed too far for her to use her powers without aid. After the rain comes, she can use it again.

Yeah, I'm pretty worried about the memory erasure. Once she knows, it should make her be fed up with the ML for a good while, but will the show give her enough episodes to angrily deal with that and how much is it gonna feel like the story is set back by it? I guess/heng Sheng will break the news about Mei's memory.

Very curious about "the heavy secrets she carries". I hope Lu Yang Yang gets to play a great FL.

The two dramas have some things in common, which is nice to see play out.
