Many people often compare every military drama to DOTS, as if DOTS is the ultimate and most popular drama in this genre. However, not all viewers, myself included, enjoy watching DOTS, as it’s simply not to my taste. There's nothing wrong with DOTS though.

"Doing romantic things" doesn't just refer to a love story between a man and a woman, but also to the human connections and relationships they form, as Chen Zhe Yuan described that "the group of people" doing it.
Isn’t it easy to write a novel with a hero/heroine who's super strong and intelligent? You could make the ML and FL perfect in every way, beyond human, if you wanted. But TWOT is different. It's about real humans, people who make mistakes, but the real question is, do they learn from them? Do they accept it, fix it, and move on?
If viewers are looking for perfect male and female leads, then TWOT isn’t for them. There are plenty of Western and Asian movies/dramas that feature the perfect ML/FL for those who enjoy that.
I admit, I’m a fan of Chen Zhe Yuan, but I’m not blindly praising every drama he stars in. TWOT has its flaws—whether it's the direction, scriptwriting, or editing, but it's far from being a bad drama with no plot at all. It’s still watchable.
As for the acting, I’ll leave that to the audience to judge. I don’t want to impose my bias or perception on anyone else.

We shouldn't judge his abilities based on a drama that had a poor production team. CZY is still CZY, and what remains is his acting. Yes, there were issues with the TWOT script, directing, and editing, but he's received a lot of praise on Weibo for his acting skills in this drama (except for some complaints that his speech in TWOT was a bit too slow, which I think was likely the director's choice. Both the ML and FL spoke slowly, almost like AI 😅, but in his other dramas, he didn’t talk like that). Some have also pointed out that the production team affected the actors' performances, at least some people understand what's really going on and don't blindly criticize the actors, who have been working hard. This character isn’t easy to portray, and CZY has continually improved his performance over time. As for HL, there was an issue during filming when the original director ran away, so CZY asked the director from Mr. Bad, whom he had worked with before, to take over HL. While his acting skills are good in both dramas(yes, he’s still improving and challenging himself by taking on a variety of genres) , the production teams were bad in every area from directing, script writing, editing, you name it. Both dramas had potential to be great for him, but unfortunately, it is not happen because of these SH*T production team. I will not be mad if the production team has done a very good job but it is the opposite.
SAF4 production team went bankrupt halfway through, so they produced the cheap-looking drama and rumors about contract issues spread, leading to unfair slander against CZY because of the billing issue. As for TWOT, they brought in a new director with questionable directing skills, and I’m not sure about the writer’s experience either. With TWOT drama budget, why they didn’t hire experienced team for such a major production.
The result are not CZY fault at all but some blame him for everything what happens. How can Chen Zhe Yuan overcome this obstacle? His mental must be very strong as he invested a lot in the acting but they failed his efforts.....I am so mad In the end, all the blame for the drama’s result will fall on Chen Zhe Yuan again.
