Lu Yunqi's near complete 180 degree turn around was super disappointing. He was too big of a threat to the leads to be allowed to just continue but they couldn't kill him off because he needed to be a witness so the writers made him just "oh ok i guess i'll stop being completely unhinged and terrible now". Would have been better if he just went completely off his rocker. his ending was too forgiving for all the horrible stuff he did.
is there a lot of romance in this drama? and is it slow paced?
Romance is not a main focus at least up to ep 14. They technically get together quite early and they are quite sweet together but there are not a lot of romantic scenes. It's more like slice of life with some occasional romance sprinkled in.
The ML's co-worker's death made me nauseous. No dramatic slo-mo of the characters seeing it fall and pushing the other out of the way or even seeing it at all. Just gone in instant. I appreciate that this show isn't complete fluff but that felt a little realistic for me.
Something I like more than the novel so far, is that the ML is a bit more emotional and feels more like a real human, and Zhang Linghe tends to bring an air of sass to these types of characters that I appreciate lol.
If it was novel accurate, you'd see almost no expression ever lol.
But a lot has happened between them, no? The affection has been noticeably growing. I personally love the gradual…
I mean not a lot has happened yet compared to what's to come. I don't necessarily dislike that they are aware of their feelings earlier, but I feel like they could have waited a bit longer for them to actually kiss & acknowledge their feelings to each other. Maybe it's just because I prefer a bit more of a slow burn, so for this aspect I prefer the novel's approach.
compared the novel, its shocking to see them kiss or even be aware of their feelings this early. i mean i suppose we are 1/4 through the drama already but it honestly feels like almost nothing has actually happened yet
If someone has read the novel, how accurately are they following it? Thank you ❤️❤️
So far I would say maybe 70% so far. They've introduced some characters much earlier. For example in the novel, Li Huai'An is never in this little village. Or least if he was I don't remember. He never met the leads there.
The leads also were not so open with or even aware of their feelings at this point in the novel.
but overall, the setting and most plot points still seem to be following the novel.

Its just preference.
