Honestly if I didn't know about the original novel and was also unaware of the censorship I'd probably argue that…
I just finished the show last night and originally I was planning on watching the animation, and then perhaps reading the novel afterwards, but I read somewhere that WWX's character is a bit different in the novel and I'm not sure if I'd enjoy that version of him as much? Based on what I read on the wiki, many of the changes the drama made (aside from the censorship of course) are things I liked about it? idk if that makes sense lol. I might still try reading it eventually though!
Not sure I agree with this article at all, mostly about the fact about the no romance part. There was definitely…
Honestly if I didn't know about the original novel and was also unaware of the censorship I'd probably argue that their relationship is toeing on queer-baiting (edit to clarify just in case: I don't think the show actually QB, I just mean that the romantic undertones are imo pretty overt). I find it difficult to imagine watching this and seeing their relationship as 100% platonic, but maybe that's my lesbian brain looking for Gay in everything LOL.
I don't think you're entirely wrong, but I think by completely dismissing the source material, your entire point became skewed. Are pretty boys a draw factor? Certainly. But you completely failed to recognize that the original novel is BL, and so it's not quite "fangirls having the boys to themselves", it's more like "fangirls wanting to see the two leads kiss". And then maybe have the others to themselves? (I'll take miss Wen Qing if no one minds). Even if the drama isn't explicitly romantic (mostly due to censorship), the bromance is /heavy/, and I'm only a little over half way through the show. Every single time I've seen someone on my social media feeds mention this show, it's pretty much always about relationship between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Even if the show couldn't be a completely faithful adaptation, there was still buzz about how the novel is BL and that you can consider the relationship in the show to be implied.
Sorry if this is repetitive as I'm a bit tired, but anyway, I think you missed the chance at a deeper analysis by throwing the source material out the window.
Just picked this up again after putting it on hold for a while. Currently on episode 6.
As a huge fan of the original show, but also someone who likes dramas, I've been trying really hard not compare the adaption to the original too much, but it's difficult.
So far it's been enjoyable, some changes have been really interesting and engaging, but I'm still not hooked like the way I get with the original show.
Regarding the bullying, I think you mean So Yeong? And I agree that in the end her misdeeds were glossed over…
I'm not sure if it was just about looks, I think she partially just didn't like his hyperactive/troublemaker personality, but there were times where she was definitely mean to him and others without a real reason. I just think it was strange that even after seeing her sister attempt suicide due to bullying, there was never any sign of remorse for the mean things she had done herself?
I mean Eun Byul and her friends certainly weren't as outright villainous as So Yeong (I mean that whole video thing was kept pretty vague but the implication was sexual harassment at least right?) but it bothered me that the girl they extorted money from gave them all cute little drawings when she transferred and the girls faced no consequences.

No, I was referring to how Eun Byul and her friends treated that girl who ended up stealing her mother's Jewelry, I think? I forgot her name, I'm sorry. I think the friend (Song Joo?) was actually worst offender in that situation, but it ended up being brushed off.
How funny would you rate this show? For example, I find Psychopath diary, leverage and Inspector Labour Jo quite…
I wouldn't say this show has a lot of outright comedy, but there are plenty of lighthearted and funny moments between the characters. It's not a constant doom and gloom type of show. I haven't finished the kdrama remake of Leverage but the original show is one of my favorites of all time, and Healer is probably my favorite drama of all time, so I would recommend it if you liked Leverage.
I forgot most of the details of this drama so I've been rewatching it, and man, this is still definitely my top…
I forgot about how infuriating the former cop in episode 16 is. Why are you blaming someone who was framed for getting you fired instead of blaming the people who framed him and fired you? Jeong Hu should have just knocked his ass out. (This isn't something I consider a flaw of the show btw, but it was a little rage-inducing lol)
I forgot most of the details of this drama so I've been rewatching it, and man, this is still definitely my top drama. There are still a few flaws of course, but overall the combination of action, mystery, and romance is still the best.
I'd really love to see how alternate version of this drama would play out where instead of disappearing, EunByul just reveals herself to EunBi when she learns about the bullying and takes her to Seoul. I really wanted to see more more of the sisters together than we got. I also wanted to learn more about EunByul in general, and see her held accountable for some of the things her and her friends did that we're just kinda brushed over.
it was explained by bong joon ho in many interviews that none of the characters are likeable as they were supposed…
It makes sense that they weren't supposed to be, but my own expectations of the film based on what I had heard from others unfortunately made me focus more on "this isn't what I thought it would be like at all" than the film itself :/
Many mixed feelings about this film. I think it's well made and well acted, but based on the way people talked about it I assumed I was supposed to be rooting for the poor family. Don't get me wrong, I didn't decide to root for the rich family instead (me? rooting for the rich? LMAO), but I guess I expected the poor family to be likeable.
GiWoo/Kevin who is definitely in his 20s making out with a high school girl was not something I was warned about, and I don't see anyone bringing it up. I think I understand now that he wasn't supposed to be likeable in the first place, but I still feel salty that GiJung/Jessica died instead of him.
While the story was rather predictable, it was still engaging and the acting was great. I think this would make a great introductory for someone who hasn't watched kdramas before. It's also good for people like me who have trouble finishing dramas (honestly, most dramas are 2-5 episodes longer than they need to be imo).
I have mixed feelings on how RooMi handled the confrontation with GyuMin. The message from her basically felt like "I should have never mingled with poors" to me? Like I get he was staying with her for mostly the money and connections, and she even says herself that she feels like all she has is money, but there's a lot of classism in what she said too and I know that it will probably not be addressed. Like idk I just wanted literally anyone to pop out of the corner and say something like "you're not above him because you're rich, RooMi. you're above him because he's a shitty person".
I disagree with the people saying that there should be romance between NaNa and RooMi. There's so much distrust between them (particularly from NaNa) that it would realistically take a really long time just to repair their friendship, so it's really difficult for me to imagine them being in a relationship. (And I'm generally pro-FF ships lmao).
Her ig is a MESS ,she is weird in a not good way she needs a PR for her social media.I like her tho!
in what world is Krystal's instagram "weird"??? this is her instagram, maybe you saw a fake account, unless you somehow think the average instagram is weird. https://www.instagram.com/vousmevoyez

Unrelated, I am ready to die for DanHee.
