I hope he’s not counting his chickens before they die …
Yeah, ok, me too. In the preview of ep. 27 ZZX looked way too calm, I’m starting to think he will try to kill ZH when ZH is trying to kill the marquise with his father’s invention.
Xiao Zhan just slandered that scene in the prison! It was F!antastic! I had to rewind it several times just to see every tiny bit of all those expressions he’s done! Zang Hai is borderline crazy and I love it! This is how taking revenge on someone, bringing them down, making them lose everything and finally telling them it was you all along feels like. I’ve done this and I can relate and Xiao Zhan’s performance felt so raw and genuine!
no actually. in historical dramas most of the time we see people saying "x" is so smart that he started doing…
She is a political prisoner and yet she runs the most successful events house in the capital, so, yeah, let him have a doubt since he also doesn’t know her backstory. Nor does he know when it was decided for his family to be killed (he may think it was decided long before that day). We know it maybe was planned in advance since ZH’s father had already asked for help from the masked man. I’m not saying this was the smartest way to do the plot twist, but I’m saying it can still be explained with enough logic to fit the story.
Also, even if it wasn’t her, he would have still taken the third person as prisoner, because he said it when he handed her over “Stick to the plan”.

And Zang Hai used to build tunnels and wanted revenge at the age of 10. As a princess she is royal and can be deceived into agreeing to something or just tell someone “kill them, I want my seal” and be really cruel. I remember Joffrey from GoT being 12 in the books. So, yeah, it may not seem logical to modern us, but historically (and in fantasies) children that age, especially royals, were capable of horrible things.
I love the actor and how he's handling his character...but I hoped to see his older son and wife dead today, just…
I really hope when this happens, ZH will be there to face him and tell him why! I don’t want the marquise to see his family die without knowing the reason. I want to see ZH’s face and marquise face!
I didn’t foreseen the romance ending like that lol
Totally! The hurt on his face when he pulled her mask! The way he told her who he is! How his hand was trembling when he was torn between killing her and sparing her! Oh, and the promo for the next episode. I wasn't sure I wanted romance in this drama, I still want him to get his revenge, I'm also sure she has nothing to do with his family's slaughter, but OMG - him trying to hate her now, and I don't know - affection can turn into hate when you feel betrayed, so we'll see some more drama between these two.
OMFG! Eps 23 and 24 just rocked! ZH getting almost killed. The eunuch low key saying to the Marquise that he's getting retribution for what he did to ZH's family. ZH having the chance to see the marquise whole family killed, then his micro expression when ZZX got stabbed - he actually cares for him. ZLY actually figuring that ZH may be the mastermind behind all that. Zh telling An Tu who he is, him setting the dungeon on fire with his parents' remains. OMFG! I will never be over these two episodes. This drama keeps getting better and better!
Idk, something tells me she's not the 3rd person from back then, but just happens to have common interests. She's…
Yeah, and she was really a child back then - she couldn’t possibly secure such a deal, the deal came later. And from the promo of ep 25 it’s clear now. I just didn’t expect it for her to be involved with the eunuch at all.
Btw my only teeny tiny issue with this show is that they’re relying on plot armor a bit too much… like Yang…
I don't think it really aligns, just like I don't think Zang Hai's really align. I think they can twist it to make it sound like this to the others - just like modern day astrology and fortune tellers that rely on psychology and tricks. But, yes, there are some things that came out as pure luck, but we are still to see if it was really luck or planned for.
Nooooo. Why did we only get 2 episodes? I need to know how it unfolds.
And we have still 18 episodes to go...I'm not sure I'll survive with 2 episodes per day and I have this fear they will air the last 5 or so episodes 1 per day instead of dropping them early for the SVIPs.
Crazy part is - we already are paying just to get that 1 extra episode a day. And that isn't nearly enough. Youku…
Exactly! And I'm so torn - I want to know EVERYTHING NOW, but in the same time, I dread having no more episodes to watch. Like, two hours have passed since I saw today's eps and my hands are still shaking. I can't think of anything else, it's like addiction and I get to get my medication only once a day! ONCE! A! DAY! It's a crime.
The suspense in the last two eps is killing me! I'm literally sweating and having trouble breathing! I want to know what happens, damn! I'm willing to give money to Youku just to have more than two eps daily, I can't with it. This drama has such a hold on me, I can't even remember the last time I was so invested in a series. I was just about to get mad at ZH and than they hit me with ep 22!
