I did not like the screen time that the ML had. I felt it was too much. The plot was kind of funny... the 3rd…
He saved the boy and educated him just because they couldn’t get to the Gui Seal. And the ZH is his father’s son, he knows the mindset of his father and he may have known his father’s hiding places or mechanisms. And he used the boy’s hatred to plot the killing of his allies so he can be the only one having the power of the Gui seal once found. He was one clever and calculating bast*rd. We can even see how ZH is shifting away from the revenge once he has someone else in his life so his shi fu drags him to his old home to open up the wounds again, cause they need him focused.
Otherwise, the drama is male centric so it should be more screen time for the main character. I was really happy they didn’t put a lot of side characters stories, usually I skip those parts in dramas, I hate being distracted from the main lead or the main couple (in romance dramas). 😄
Who else knew the masked man is the 3rd enemy and also ZB?I mean its pretty obvious, masked was for a reason and…
I figured the masked man and the third enemy were the same person since the beginning when we learnt there was a third enemy. But I knew it was ZBW only after the scene with the shadows behind ZH when the production released posters and they put the eagle above ZBW. 😄
I guess I'll be wandering here till they decide to make a second season 🫠it's a pity shows like this one are…
Same, I’m rewatching it and I thought I was going to binge it but I’m actually sticking to one ep per day just to prolong a bit the pleasure. If they decide on a second season, I hope they can gather the OG cast and they can deliver a script that will be at least as good as this one. And to have all these, we’ll have to wait how long… maybe 3 yrs. 😭
So here I am - reading new comments from ppl just discovering the drama.
1st Episode. Did he really let them kill his kids just to not give them what they wanted? If so, This is beyond…
For someone to let ppl kill their kids, don’t you think there might be a greater reason or belief that won’t be uncovered in ep.1? Or, that, brutal ppl like this would’ve spared the family once they get what they want? I wouldn’t have called it absurd even before knowing the whole story, but maybe the plot of this drama is not what you are looking for.
Completed. Outstanding drama. LOZH is an instant all-time favourite for me. A drama to be watched again and again.…
I think that’s the beauty of the drama - even though most of the things we were guessing turned out to be true, they kept us on pins and needles throughout the story.
They have some really sweet scenes at the beginning, some "break-up" in the middle (not really a break-up since they weren't together to start with), then they get together and it's a happy ending.
Rewatching from the beginning and in ep 1 now I noticed that the marquise looked up before leaving the house of Kuai Duo. He really did look to ZBW who was on the roof. And they also took ZH's parents' bodies away - they are not in the pile with the other corpses. I want to see how many more hidden details I'll discover on my rewatch.
1. im prolly forgetting things but who was the prince at the end i think ep 40, the one who assumed the throne…
1. They haven't shown him in the series. THey said he's the son of one of the princes they mantioned at the beginning of the series when they were dealing with the funeral.
2. Yes, he did, because ZBW approached ZZX way before he was made heir by the marquise. Remember that being the third enemy and the benefactor, he actually had insight on what ZH plans' were. And ZZX actually didn't mention the Queen of Dongxia, it was ZH who deducted it was her when ZZX lied to him that the third enemy was someone from Dongxia's royals.
3. Well, he was stabbed first by ZH's weapon in the marquise dungeon, then by the Queen's sward, so he was dying.
4. Yes, the hallucination caused his death out of fear - he was old, he probably got a heart attack out of shock.
5. Because those three were all narcissists and they couldn't trust even the other two when they wanted power. And ZBW wanted all the power without having to divide it. Also, ZH was he only one who could have insights about Gui seal whereabouts since it was last seen in his dad's hands. His dad could've either told him where he hid the seal or ZH would've been able to solve his father's riddles and clues, if any, that would lead to the seal.
How was it guys? im about to start the binge, i need viewers Authentic UNBIAS opinions.
Excellent drama if you are into plots that make you think, analyze and guess. Not everything is explained to the viewer and you have to pay attention to details, convos and clues and deduct. Some find this as lacking of the script, I find it purposely done ti keep with the story style. They let the viewer be part of the story.
The ML character is young, unexperienced and unprepared, so he makes mistakes and is not the typical revenge character where you’ll see him always a lot of steps before the others.
The villains are experienced and clever, not your typical bad guys just being there to put the ML through struggles for the sake of the story line.
There are, though, some side characters without much development, just used for the story line.
There are some weaker eps after ep 29-30 with the pace being a bit slower than the previous eps.
The settings are beautifully done, my only complain were some settings and editing in the last few eps.
All the actors did a great job portraying their characters and making them real.
Currently in the 4th episode and I'm really struggling. When does it become interesting
Maybe the plot is just not for you. Usually I give c-dramas time to ep 8 and then ep 15. These are my limits. And almost all dramas become dull for me around ep 25, even the most interesting ones. This one got me hooked from ep 1. I have only one other drama that was like this for me. So, give it a try, but don’t struggle if it’s not your type of series.
But do you think ML could have saved Gao Ming? He could have taken him away with him when he took them out of…
How could he save him? First - Gao Ming was poisoned by ZBW in prison after the execution - with the tea. Second, as he explained to ZH - he have to stay in the capital and be close to ZBW. Even if was not poisoned, it would have become suspicious to ZBW if he just disappeared after the death of ZH.
I note there is a new emperor in the end. But no mention of what happened to the old emperor and how he died.…
Based on the convo between ZH and ZBW in the prison, we can guess that ZBW poisoned the emperor.
As for the soldiers, to snap out of the hallucination, you need to experience another shock/stress, focus your mind on something else, hence the cutting is the most first aid thing.
