It was like an imaginary marriage agreed by both. Also when they both welcomed the bugs, that felt a very strong connection between them, like another marriage or so and the part he took her under water to admire that world around felt like a honey moon journey.
I never really understood the meaning of the ball with the mermaids, it was like a message to me: I love you / I want you. Especially after that in what situation the mermaids were when she discovered them and spyed on them. You really send such a private message (memory) with a strong sexual point to someone you don't love and don't want to be with? Really?
Sometimes I really "hate" the writer, it is her right of course to kill this or that character but it hurt so much. She could write another novel bring him back to life, reincarnation or whatever. XL is one of the best c-drama, c-novel character ever existed. I thought after Xie Wei' c. that there wouldn't be anyone similary good and interesting or even more - I was wrong. Also, I somehow expected XL to send Chubby to live with her at the end to comfort each other. The two still living beings who liked him the most.

I stopped there. I fast fowarded to know the end then I couldn't watch the episodes between 7 and the end, I was utterly disappointed. I've just finished properly, watching those episodes.

Felt similarly. Maybe just my taste but I would have chosen XL to anyone else "available". He felt to be the true, matching love, the fox was just a convenient choice of a "puppy" escorting her forever, and the brother while he was hot, felt very cruel. I thought that when XL cured her but sent her home without saying bye she was not in a hurry despite knowing that the fox was about to die. If I am so much in love with someone and got the news he is dying I would rush no matter what instead of wasting time with crying on the empty bed of XL. The mirror - you wrote - is a good point, yes, indeed, why only XL was in the mirror?
Also interesting what would have happened if there is not the sentence "I don't want you in my day-dreaming". That hurt XL a lot as was repeated several times in his memory. If XL never thought of giving up fighting and disappear with her, why did it matter that who would she liked to spend with her life the most? XL said, she didn't love him but someone else. Probably because of it he didn't even consider seriously to give up on the war. He was a demon after all, despised, a "lower being", hard to cope with, he had to choose someome to make his life stand out either a real love or being a real loyal hero.

Anyway, still so much obsessed with this drama, sorry for the long comment, just wanted to chat.

He is good, not only good looking but can act. I saw this drama and previously the Lost You Forever with him, while I rooted for the demon-guy, his acting was perfect and the role was a difficult one in my opinion.

I don't want to defend him, I've never seen him but only this drama, was it the carachter or the actor. The fox-guy was an absolute coward, he did nothing but betrayed her, the top of the cake was when he hired XL to ruin the wedding instead of doing it himself. He was called clever but how clever you are when you let survive the guy who tortured you for years simply because it is your brother, so what? But even if he didn't want to kill him, he - with so much brain - could create a situation to completely ruin him and chase him away. His power came from money and money only. Nothing to respect, nothing to be attracted to. Maybe this is why I didn't see a happy end but a very sad end. The irony is that while it looked the demon was the most cruel one, in fact, both of the other guys tortured her more and more deeply.

In my opinion it's a bit more complex, people with harsh background - like the girl had - abandoned by everyone doesn't feel love on the same way other people do. They love the one who is theirs, before that they keep their emotions on hold, surpassed, and treat every attractive (ina way or another) male as a good friend, buddy without raising hope. They 'release' the emotions, love when they feel secured in the relationship, the 'mine' ace card, 'he will stay with me forever'. If anyone of you knows the book Eneagram, the girl is a 4 type, called Individualist.
Also, it is maybe just me? but I felt her true love was Xiang Liu but due to misunderstandings and the way he also didn't give away his feelings openly, they lost each other. She cried in that shell befole leaving because of the news that Xiang Liu didn't want to see her but only ' being delivered to home'. She was not in a hurry despite knowing about the fox-guy dire condition. With the fox guy the relationship could be warm and even loving but on a relaxed lukewarm level. The hot deal, the big love was Xiang Liu wheter she was aware of it or not, a shame that without fulfilling it.

So devastating, I sawJo Jin Mo in several dramas, good looking, good adctor, then due to the rigged system he played a role in Forzen flower - a homo, absolutlely disgusting king with kissing scenes with another male I wish I colud forget but I cant. Since then he is - whie being a very good actror - I feel like vomiting, I can't watch anything with him as he is so REPULSIVE. I wasted my time as he ruined everything but probably was nicely paid - how deep you can go for money and fame?Utterly disgusting but I bet he earned a lot.

So sorry, I found it so boring I gave up somewhere around the first couple of episodes. Because of it I didn't even start to watch The Last Immortal. But I'll watch this, because of the director it is a must for me.

Same here, I love the director and have high hope for this one, too.

I finished it and really liked it. Around the middle I got used to the expression less guy (ML), and the drama altogheter was really good, the actors and actresses even just the supporting ones were also very good and believable. The story was intelligent enough, I really love the director, he is top to put together series well. He is my favorite Chinese director for sure.

There were many sex scenes in the movie: Empire of Lust, but they were justified, the story itself justified them and I had no problem with that even if it was at the verge of porn. This is now different, here it was used without justificiation and was so upsettingly humiliating (the slaves at the beginning).

After just 10-15 minutes from the 1st part I gave up, to me it is a 1/10. Hollywood v 2.0 and I left Hollywood' "arts" 2 decades ago because of disgust.

Koreans whining about it are right. What do you think, why so many western people watching Korean and Chinese dramas instead of Hollywood's? Because the asian dramas were not disgusting till nowadays to people with proper taste and desires. I have no problem with sex scenes when there is a purpose and justification of it but the opposite, I quite enjoy them, there was a time I also enjoyed soft-pornograph movies. The problem is that when it is used with no purpose apart from ruining the society' taste and values.

The problem is not the sex, the problem is that it was used with no reason, and in a humiliating way. I gave up on the series after the first minutes. There was no reason for the shaman to uncover one breast, or how disgusting was the scene with the sex SLAVES and the king licking him. Pfuh. This is excatly I turned away from Hollywood many years ago and turned towards asian movies and dramas.

Agreed, I didn't like MJTY but she was great in that too, she stole the show, was far more intresting than the FL or the main couple. I've just started to watch Blossoms in Adversity and wow, what a talented actress, that role is not easy. I swear I didn't even recognize her, was so great / different. And she is beautiful, even with a woman' eye. I hope she will get leading roles.

Absolutely amazing actress. I've just started Blossoms in Adversity, I knew I saw that girl in something else but didn't find out in which drama, turned out I saw her in two other dramas, very different roles, that's why I didn't recognize her apart from being a bit "familiar". Very talented to be able to form so well such different characters.

I've started it. I really like the story despite of being a bit naive and the supporting actors and actresses are all amazing. My only problem so far is the ML, somehow he doesn't transmit feelings. He has a kind of expression, as if he would be wondering and that is all or almost. Absolutely love the ML' sister, she is so great in that role.

Broke my heart, she should have ended with the 9 headed. :) Their chemistry was outstanding.

Interesting comment, because I first saw her with Xu Kai in the Legends then I saw her in some more dramas then I saw her with ZLH and she had very good chemistry only these two.
