Shadow Love had a supposedly famous female general who had to be saved in both Episodes 1-2 by the ML - how in…
It is not the point, the intelligence, deepth of the characters, decisions was my point. This one was as if an AI would have written it but intelligent people. None of the characters were belieavable to me, expect the bird. In SL the FL was trained from childhood to be a military leader meaning she understood not only how to fight but how to make strategy. In this one a butcher just somehow becames a general "overnight" simply based on her strenght and bravery - as if it would be enough to lead an army. But let's assume she is hyperintelligent, a military prodegy, shame that this 200+IQ didn't show itself in other areas. To be honest, I have the feeling that nowadays an AI writes the scripts but real people. Feed: what people like, what are the popular fragments, how it should look, then just print it and excecute.
It was not bad but with 9.2 it is highly overrated. ZHL is talented based on the Story of Kunning Palace, so far it was his best role and most memorable role of him but to compared to this, I loved him better even in the Princess Royal. I can't really tell what was wrong with this one, somehow unsatisfing, despite that the FL was also good. Probably the story telling, somehow lacked tension, felt underwritten. As about how I imagine a female general, Shadow Love's was more believable. All in one the whole production despite of the beautiful visuals felt childish, too childish to take it seriously hence it failed to really move me. The only thing why it standed out the idea of a female butcher, in the novel her life in that village, the precisity of her thought about her job and the development of her business-vein made it outstandingly original. Story of Kunning Palace was an adult drama, made for more matured people, with all of their characters, acting, choices it was well written and excetuded. This felt a tale for children with underwritten characters. The puppet emperor was especially poorly written, I mean till some point every emperor is a puppet of the different fractions and interests trying to influence decisions. But as much as I can recall the novel - what I dropped before the very end - just got bored - it is probably not the fault of the screen writer(s) but the novel's itself.
I think those scenes are still coming up.The bird is going to be caught in today's episodes. And apparently, the…
You're right, meantime I managed to watch those episodes. Mechanical, really? Wow. I enjoyed more these parts, but as I wrote, the problem was myself and my mind being full with stuff preventing me to be glued to the story.
That would have been really cute and interesting. Perhaps, deleted due budget cut for CGI. 🤷🏼♀️
No, thankfully not, when I wrote the comment I saw 4.5 parts, since then I saw 6-7, drama gets better, hawkí' scenes are also much better so far. :) I am happy.
You read the novel to some extent and yet are expecting war torn villages at this stage of the story? Opening…
I read it with double translation, not precise enough I guess, the overall view in my mind was like I wrote. That would be the normal by the way. Apart from that the drama gets better, when I commented I saw the first 4 and a half part.
Another thing, they should have put more effort into the falcon' scenes, in the novel they were the best, the bird' interactions but they changed the plot and 'muted' the falcon's responses, interactions. It should have been similarly well made how Chubby was in LYF. In the novel the falcon was absolutely adorable, was caught by FL, was injured, was treated well by the little sister and many more, the bird had its own opinion, expressions, interacted and those were the best parts (to me). A bit disappointing.
I share Freshy's opinion below, not bad but somehow didn't glue me to the screen either. I am thinking that it is because I have a lot in my mind these days or because I made the mistake and read the novel almost fully back then. To be honest, I got bored with the novel just before the end and dropped. Also to me the best part of the novel was the beginning (exactly the parts we now can watch and a bit further) but after that I gradually lost interest, FL's story became unbeliavable.
The novel is dark, I mean no matter how much I am not a fan of Hollywood's depressing brown-grey-mud-rain-blood coloured movies, this novel had the impression of that kind of world (the village they are now) where everyone stuggles for survival, clothes are worn down and dirty, situations are dire - but that little clean, well-organized, cheerful coloured village / people we have now. It feels off. I can't feel how desperate their lives were, how much they struggled and fought for survival. Reading it it didn't felt funny at all but serious to the score. Even when the orphans were harassed I did't feel the tension. People didn't look hungry, poor, desperate, worn out via war and poverty around and I finish not go into spoilers. Anyway, we will see.
One thing I learnt, while I started to read Dancing with the Tide, I now stop, I don't want to know what will happen and to compare the novel to the drama, maybe after the drama I'll read.
I watched it because of the main leads, they were great, but to be honest this type of submerging and 2D characters and whatever is not my cup of tea at all. Without the MLs I would have dropped it early. This drama is the type you watch, you can't recall a week later how it ended, something like that.
This is such a fan service drama for the ML. I love it 😁😁😁. I'm still on episode 7 and he's basically…
Smilar here, I was a bit bored with that one, I think I missed to watch the last 2-3 eps because of that. Part of the story that I don' t really fancy that actress, she is good but she has something in her which is irritating for me, whenever I wach something with her I always end up with " why her but another actress". Mea culpa, not her fault, my personal taste.
Can someone give me an “angst guide?” Like is there betrayal, a break up, etc? And how many episodes does…
Don't worry, as they are on different sides and the fluff is due only to the lost memories of previous life of the prince, that fluff will disappear. Around 28 or so.
Absolutely, it's a gem. To me it left a deep impact similar to Lost You Forever's or Ashes of Love, or The Wolf or Story of Kunning Palace - it was a drama I won't forget and will re-watch from time to time.
With 8.4 - compared to many series - this drama is seriously underrated. While I mainly agree with Kilo's (below) overall opinion like believable young and fragile-looking female generals... you know - this story has become one of my biggest favorites in the top 5-6 during the years or so. Emotionally it is really heavy and very well made / played, I can feel with them, I could live "in the story". ML is just phenomenal, I share the same view with Kilo, I loved him most as Prince Annian in the forth part of the story, while he was also very good as the "nice guy next door", he has a sort of edge not to waste, when he is serious that hits. I also liked the FL, among those female generals I happend to watch in dramas, she was the best (most believable) so far. The story was a beautiful tale, bit reminds me to Lost You Forever, that almost unbereable struggle between love and loyalty/responsibility. The man in the role of black magician is also a huge favorite of mine, no matter what he plays - and he played very different characters in different dramas - he is also great and ads a spice to the whole. The mentally sick and evil emperess was aslo very well played. Surely will rewatch from time to time, there was not a really boring moment to skip.
It was a very good show thank you to all who participated. The roles fit perfectly to the actors / actresses, especially to the leads. Bai Lu always good but this role felt somehow so well fit, same with ML. I've just realized that I don't need so much romance, a clever enough plot and interesting story is more important and I am satisfied with little (but beliavable) romance. Was so good not to have "let's shop together" or "let's watch the firework together" endless cheesy stuff.
what do the titles Zhuyu, pursuit of jade, and chasing jade mean? Is he the jade? and everyone is pursuing him?…
In the novel they (both of them) are often compared to jade like their face, figure, skin, etc as if jade would mean something like beautiful, clean, clear, noble. Just my thoughts.
He's not a dark character at all. He's just a typical man who thinks like a man and makes mistakes like a man.…
He is cruel enough and sadistic in the novel, in almost every intimate scenes he bites the woman and she also bites the man instead of kissing. Hopefully the series won't follow this and hopefully they kept the falcon as it was the funniest little creature in the novel, a bit similar as funny-level to Xiang Liu's bird.
Hold up, she is in this drama? I don't recognize her at all. I am waiting for the next two eps 17 and 18. Does…
She appeared very shortly in the 17th , 30:44 as a technician of medicine, just a couple of sentences. UPDATE, she was on screen a lot, later. Wish I could see her again in a bigger role, main role. She is great. Loved her as spoiled princess who matures in Lost You Forever. Also was great in Moonlight Mystic, in that show the second leads left more impression than the mains.
Do it! While BL is a versitale actress, her best fitting roles and best series were 1. Kunning Palace, 2. Legends.…
Thanks so much. I watched the first, good director and I like the actress (since The Wolf), I haven't watch the second, will go for it when I am bored. :)
