No! There was nothing like that. They showed that they eloped to a country side but kept in touch with the people they know. They lived a happy life and in the end, probably after years, they're old and died, their souls met in afterlife and they watched the white olive tree grow.
Episode 38 – Zan made me cry buckets. The triggering point in the hospital, his confession that he wasn’t getting better, and his silent tears when Ran read his diary to him—Chen Zheyuan was exceptional as Li Zan. This is by far his best role. I could see his growth from Duan Jiaxu to Lin Shobai to now Li Zan. He has truly evolved in his craft!
Ran’s love is selfless and beautiful to watch—she would do anything to be by his side.
All the characters got a deserving ending: Sa Xin at the university, Jiang Lu topping his exams, Lou reading the book, Shen Bei volunteering with kids, Dr. Pei living the way Ben wanted her to, and lastly, the leads—they got married and lived happily in their little world. I don’t understand why this is considered a sad ending. To me, it’s perfect. Some scars last forever, and Li Zan’s was one of them. It’s realistic how he accepted his situation and chose to make the best of it, deciding to live with it rather than giving up. That takes immense courage.
This isn’t a sad ending; it’s an inspiring one. It teaches us to embrace our struggles—like PTSD—and find a way to move forward. The show beautifully portrayed the effects of war on everyone and how it reshaped their lives. I’d recommend this show to everyone—there’s so much strength and positivity to take away from it.
Episode 37 - Li Zan's PTSD was very well shown, the triggering points, the change is his behaviour, the effect it has on his normal life. CZY nailed the character changes! Song Ran being his support system and the immense love, belief that it'll all be fine one day is commendable.
Chen Zhe Yuan was AMAZING in episodes 29 and 30! the guy has insane range, the stark difference in his scenes with Ran and others and when on the battlefield and post that. And he looks extra handsome in uniform.
Song Ran was so stupid to tag along with Dr. Pei because she knows some first aid. It's a war zone and her hovering around Zan will only distract him and he'll be worried for her safety on top of having insane pressure of his own job.
Li Zan searching for Song Ran and falling asleep in the middle of the rocks, and her searching for him and checking if he’s alive – that scene really tugged at my heartstrings!
Episode 30 – The attack on the temple scene was SO GOOOOOOOOOD! It was fabulously done by the entire team. Benjamin needs a show of his own; that man has an incredible aura! Dr. Pei made Benjamin awkward lol that man is in love.
Episode 29 - The Wedding scene was so sweet. Morgan is a cutie! Li Zan and Song Ran scenes are so good post the break up, they've changed a lot and its for better. oh, Benjamin!
Episode 28 - loving Zan. Benjamin and Sa Xin scenes. Can someone explain why is Ran so upset over Zan's cold behavior? did she expect he'd hug her and go back to being lovey dovey with her?
Episode 27 - Loving the post break-up era. I honestly don't get Song Ran, she was the one who asked him not to contact her and now this behavior. Benjamin and Zan's scene was so good.
Episode 26 - Benjamin and Sa Xin bicker like brothers and Zan said the same, they realized Zan has changed a lot. Zan revisiting the place he met Song Ran and him helping the patient and his monologue made a nice watch! Ran's mom is a sensible lady.
Episode 25 - Miscommunication lead them to this state but I get their POVs. Breaking up over a text was rude, but the show is back on track! Last few episodes felt draggy but this episode made it up for me.
Episode 24 - Li Zan being the pillar of Strength when he is crumbling inside, his mom's story broke my hard. He didn't have a normal childhood, and living with guilt. It's not easy being him. she wants to fill the void in his heart too! these two are sweeeeeet!
Ran’s love is selfless and beautiful to watch—she would do anything to be by his side.
