Suggest kdramas which have similar personality as Gwangcheol (bubbly, grumpy, naughty)
Gang Cheol is actually very sophisticated... he was meditating for 1000 years and then trying to ascend to Heaven. He is no small potato. He knows and understands a lot, and is very very very fine refined and sophisticated, deep character ... and yeah pissed off grumpy that he was unlucky and got stuck... but also.. genuine and generous enough to see and acknowledge what's good... and all his character flaws... were eventually polished, he wasnt selfish anymore :)
but he shone as imugi friend :) an excellent friend, and love advisor. Very experienced :) Someone said that there was hint about him and some new lady at the end, where wast that. I missed it?
an another journey ends today. this was the first historical drama i watched. now i m into historical dramas too…
i loved Great Doctor with Lee Min Ho (the doctor herself was ... a bit too much of a damsel in distress, by her own choice, but still the plot and story was fun and she got it by the end); and I liked the story of Park's Arranged Marriage, and I think I liked some of the "My queen Inhyon" or however it is spelled. I will think of others. I do not like Mr Queen though. But you might like it. I liked Heo's Diner well that's a long story, they almost ruined it with the bad script, but I really thought it was so fun. Moon Lovers Scarlet Ryeo is ... well.. a classic so that you can the idea but ... is ... too... soapy. The one that is truely a masterpiece is King and Clown but it is hopeless drama, that filmmaker makes only hopeless ones. And for education, Steven Chow from Hong Kong made "Kung Fu hustle" so you can see what China was like during per-communist times when gangs and opium were everywhere. That drama is an excellent education piece... Ah there are so many others... BTW I did not like King the Eternal Monarch. It was so ... commercial. As for supernatural, one of the classics you must see is The Legend of the Blue Sea :) and of course, My Love from ANother Star :) that's about an alien. A modern great is Goblin, but I even more like My Boyfriend is a Gumiho, it is a psychological thriller and an instruction book to becoming a human being :) not just a "person" but a real Human Being. It is a whole different level that Haunted Palace. Gumiho is trying to overcome severe faults and just get to the point where he even has a heart. GangCheol was trying to ascend to Heaven so he was a LOT MORE classy mature sophisticated and elegant and the story starts from a 'higher level" and ends on a very high level. So to me that is why this story was so interesting. The Gumiho story starts "in the mud" with ... cold hearted addiction, really, and ends up "clean" at least having a heart to FEEL.
Finally it's a happy ending guysssðŸ˜ðŸ˜ I was so sacred, I don't wanna get anyone killed anymore. I thought…
I was so pissed off and furious after the Bibi episode and in an impulsive reactive mode I wrote a SCATHING flaming review. Then I realized that it was bc I really LIKED the character and the story and was identifying with it :) I was pissed off and furious that he got wasted out of such stupidity of his. It is like watching a dear kid go drunk driving and die.....
So many ppl so sad about Bibi is a sign that ppl were really into the story, the characters are like our "friends" and we want them to do well. So dont be sad :)
I did not love the writing, but that cast kept me coming back! And the opening is absolutely one of my all-time…
Yeah I would love to own this poster like the one on this page! I think ... copying the image digitally is the only option now... ? I also loved one where we see them from the back and he has a tail :)
And as for the carnage - it is to be expected in those historic times, this is the era of swords, poisoning people, burning them, war, there is an interrogation court, there is king who can do anything he wants, lots of bearded nobles who ALSO do whatever they want, their guards, in general .... lots of ppl running around with swords day and night and feeling entitled to use them, etc. Just that one barbarian attempt to seize was a mini war and that went on always, esp at the borders and ESPECIALLY AT THE PALACE. So yeah, tough time to live, MANY died esp in the palace where murder is a sure way to move up. Palace life is dangerous for your life, always some murders going on.
I understand why so many are mad that the little baby brother died and the sweet one and the original but ... that is the fact of that era. It would be unrealistic that nobody died. Also for this particular drama the original's death allowed the body swapping plot and a happy ending, since YR is not in love with the original.... .
Today... there wont be so much death in S Korea as a rather wealthy and developed country with a lawful government.... but still some will die of ... car accident, shooting, cancer, vocid pandemic, AIDS, overdose and bad habits, perhaps liver cirrhosis from drinking :) as S Korea is 15th in the world and 4th in Asia.... After Fukujima nuclear reactor spilled all that nuclear garbage into the Pacific, I did notice that modern kdramas often mention people who died from cancer. And a drama in another area of the world like ... Africa, Ukraine, Palestine, the West, etc would show dying from bombing. starvation, overdose, bad life habits, and/or .... ...
So .... it is reasonable to expect that ppl died in this Joseon time drama taking place in the palace... that happens in real life unfortunately.
Raise your hand if you still think the King is handsome? ;) The real King should have executed them right on the…
I wonder if it would have changed anything if the king apologized even though the queen was dead... ? bc the king got to experience what the monster experienced... WOULD AN APOLOGY HAVE APPEASED THAT MONSTER?
Some ppl said this is draggy etc and maybe they love to watch horror stories or thrillers but not what this drama is, a more comprehensive look at things, including psychology and character, which is probably boring to an action-loving audience. This kdrama is a mix of psychological thriller, tragicomedy and comedy, light romance, and horror, imo, in that order. An dyeah supernatiral too. I think this drama is incredibly interesting and twisty, I could not predict the plot. And I cannot predict what will happen next...
I will miss YGimugi, that was the funniest most comical and most endearing character I met recently. His personal growth and increasing maturity was most fun to watch. And his resulting friendship with the King and his solid romance and dedication to YR, they are a very functional exemplary couple imo. Great communication and teamwork.
Raise your hand if you still think the King is handsome? ;) The real King should have executed them right on the spot instead of waiting ... he hasnt learned by now that they always escaped...? But the twist...
YGimugi is incredibly funny with his learning about humans, his bratty speech and behavior, his confused flirting with YR, etc. There is a lot of humor in this kdrama . Then King giving romantic advice is incredibly funny too. And so on...
depends how you think about it. It is scary and also there are so many comedic moments, The YGimugi has a sharp mounth and exrremely funny spoiled brat expressions OR really comedic learning about humans ..... most of the time when it is not fights or chasing spirits
Between the ML and King yes, and really good development 💖
The word "bromance" is ... so strange. Because it implies some kind or ... romance and that means lovers, which is not the case here. Friendship is a better word but it has so many shades so how do we precisely state what kind of friendship it was. In this case, between YGimugi and King, based on respect and trust, and gratitude , WORKING TOGETHER.. Also there was friendship with Grand EUnuch and YGimugi, but a lot lighter and more distant and shallow, just bc YGimugi protected the king
Am I the only one who didn’t feel sad when BiBi died? His character was so selfish. I also feel bad for Yoon…
He was selfish BUT also he had some brotherly love and care, so it is like having a small spoiled child, so you cannot be happy that it got into trouble. Also, he died in a very stupid needless way. He was on his path to ascension so it is like ... needless waste of his life. We were all hoping he would grow up and be a really nice dude.
