Yeah I recommend just watching some of ep 1 and making up your opinion, bc you can never tell based on what others say...
This kdrama Golden Days has a realistic ML - a generic ignorant insecure and proud arrogant male trying to control his feelings - and I am not sure where it will go.
ML is flawed but he is not evil and hopefully he will learn in 50 episodes LOL

I am sorry that Il Woo has health issues and I hope he overcomes. There are ways to disolve clots naturally, like turmeric and dandelion lives and red clover leaves... I wish him to overcome fast. I noticed in all kdramas that cancer is mentioned a lot now and it all started after Fukushima nuclear explosion,,, so many Koreans must be really ill from that. I see lots of kactors now with enlarged thyroid too.

As for Il Woo as an actor, his life experience will help him act the role of this ignorant man who sacrifices his soul and his health to pursue his mental ideas of running away from love ....

that was a psychopath ML that should have been in a psych ward but was roaming freely bc he was rich and bc he sucked the blood out of the FL who acted as his 24/7 mental health nurse and his punching bag. Without her, he could not function properly. I stopped watching it and never understood why it is popular. To me it was VIOLENT and a description of a psych ward in daily life. And bc of it, I didnt watch Heirs

I didnt finish WHen Life Gives you Tangerines bc the FL was too selfish and the ML kept catering to her.

WOMEN ARE NOT ENLIGHTENED BY DEFAULT :) and majority of female audience will love some hot shot popular dude regardless of messages he promotes.... and definitely will not like a poor dude...

But there are realistic good guys like ML in "Love Scout",


I did enjoy watching Lee Min Ho in his nice roles, like Legend of Blue Sea - where he transforms from a con artist into an honest man -
and in drama Personal Taste - which I didnt really watch bc the FL was too mentally ill anxious scared irrational loser and she was painful to watch!!!!! but HE treated her ok (except lying to get into her house to copy it), and the scene where he introduces her to his mother is precious :)
And I like even his Great Doctor, he is a professional soldier and killer and the doctor acted stupid too many times, BUT overall, they worked all right as a pair, she was contributing... And King Eternal Monarch FL is not bad and he as the king is pretty green...

Then we have My Sweet Mobster with an ex convict who WAS ALREADY turned into a very righteous man... I love him :) He is a really green guy.... The FL is the classic stupid one, but later she contributes as a baby sitter and trainer of ex-convicts. The second con-man 2ML is a great green man and his relationship with his love is exemplary. What he tells her is amazingly wise and how he behaves is amazingly wise and she didnt force anything, he did it on his own.

I think a perennial male jerk and middle age crisis is described and resolved by ML efforts in Familiar Wife, that is an excellent drama for self help therapy and marriage counseling
Even Divorce Insurance too, the Grim Reaper actor has a great ML role and his friend too

I LOVE the lawyer ML in "Sorry not Sorry" he is a real guy who is amazing. The actor's name is Daniel but he is Korean and he is so comical (and real. FL is a typical loser clutz). And her friends with 2 kids have an amazing dad, great role model.

Salon de Holmes is a very strong too strong FL and a realistic middle age husband who is trying.. but is not a positive character LOL

There are many others where the ML was a real guy and very exemplary

Then even the imaginary ML like Goblin - he did not do anything to grab his bride when she was a teenager, he was respectful. He waited. Or My Boyfriend is a Gumiho, where the Gumiho tries to grab her and realizes he shouldnt - that story is a metaphor of an ingorant partner who uses the other and then decides to stop.

There are TONS of kdramas where the ML is very respectful and does not do anything to bag the FL although he COULD if he wanted to. That is commendable :) I have hung out with Africans and African Americans and I know what I am talking about, how nasty it is when the guy only thinks of bagging ya

Another real life guy is in On her Wedding Day, he keeps loving and pursuing a woman who is close hearted and keeps ditching him until he finally connects the dots like 20 yrs later on her wedding day.

Other real life green guys who waited and moped around are the veterinarian in Motel California waiting for FL traumatized by her mother, doctor waiting for an alcoholic FL in Second Shot at Love, etc

TONS of really exemplary guys

Ah in rom com - the ML producer in Beauty and Mr Romantic, waited for his Park Sa Ra actress FL.... he is flawed and a good guy.

In an older drama A Man and A Woman (Mi So's lover) middle aged guy is married to a crazy rich woman as a favor to keep her sane bc of a car accident and then he runs into a single middle aged woman Mi So, falls in love, and divorces his wife = that is the ONLY time where ML is like this... and the cheating is exused by his wife's madness
In "My Love by My Side" another drama where a teenager got pregnant by chance and hides pregnancy, her child is registered as her mother's child... Everything goes well until the mom of the teenage dad starts digging.... Then she meets a very nice guy acted by Lee Jae Joon who falls in love with her...

or the lawyer in Elegant Family, he is a really nice guy and does not have to "save" FL

The teenage 2ML in teenage BL drama "He Su from Class 2" and both BL leads are exemplary guys, as well as the FL...

I didnt watch Crash Landing on You but ML seems like an exemplary and flawed character...

And so on!!!! Tons of really nice guys all over kdramas....
And yeah a few psychopathic exceptions :) Boys Over Flowers is waaaaay off the chart... imo.
And Ma Ru from Innocent Man... wow that drama is creepy...
A Gentleman's Dignity is soooo super sexist it was nauseating

An overly green guy is the guy who falls in love with Extraordinary Attorney Woo and you can tell the actor is sick and tired of faking it LOL

S Lines has a very realistic, flawed and good, ML detective... and The Defects has a very flawed and also good helper Tae Sik.....

As I said, "My Dearest Nemesis" surprised me with the strong FL and equal relationship between ML and FL and a great partnership and clear communication at the last third? of the episodes, although it started as a very stupid rom com for teenagers LOL "Twinkling Watermellon" also had good communication and equal partners, young and old..
Even the silly stupid "Potato Lab" ended up with two equal partners who communicate - but only at the end of ep 11 out of 12

In Woman WHo Swallowed FL is a mom who is selling her soul to enact revenge of the death of her daughter and ML is trying to save her from herself, ML is very solid on his feet and they too have excellent communication and partnership although at the moment she is resisting his help LOL

I kept watching this drama bc when the kids grow up, it gets lighter - but not really light. It stays heavy..... That is the signature of cdramas.. they are so heavy.
There is no humor anywhere. There is no spiritual practice anywhere. There is no self reflection.
They just keep SURVIVING by sticking together no matter what mistakes they make.
Truly, surviving hell.

So cdramas are about sheer survival, just to LIVE, so there is no space for humor and it is heavy. The ppl do not have the space for finer things like that. They are gonna DIE. It is that serious.

As for acting: it is masterful, except very very very few...
Now I understand why ErQiang is not on screen a lot, that actor is not so good, he has "poker face" and "smiley face" but not much else. He is actually one of the weakest actors in the drama. Pretty face :) when he smiles but ... not too much skill yet. He is new.

The Oldest Brother actor is a masterful actor and gets most scenes

I am a student of traditional Chinese medicine and tai chi, and I spread all Chinese videos about healthy movement (kung fu warmups and tai chi) and I make a living from it and use it in my daily life, and so many times when I had medical issues, Chinese traditional doctor helped me, and I always held respect for the Chinese SUPREME KNOWLEDGE about many things

After watching this drama, I felt immense compassion for the people who have survived all these horrible things. I am not sure how to put it in words, but my heart feels for them SURVIVING in spite of the hell they are born into, without any help.

Korea practiced Buddhism and somehow was able to evade some of this? Chinese seem left to their own devices and they coped somehow. They are killing Tibetan buddhists and are basically cutting down the branch they sit on. People cannot live without a spiritual practice. It is equivalent to food.
And organized Chistianity can never provide it :) bc it is fake and hypocritical and actually teaches dead-end strategies. Christianity is a religion designed to manipulate people. Meditation is forbidden in Christianity. The emphasis is on the suffering on the cross and feeling guilty, instead of extensive effort in self reflection, letting go of preconceived notions, and surrendering to the Great Light. Jesus became an international super star not bc he sat on the cross and shed blood for others - zillions of people sat on the cross and shed blood for others and produced no change.... - but bc he TRANSFORMED INTO LIGHT.... HE DID THE INNER PROCESS TO RISE UP IN CONSCIOUSNESS.
So forget the organized Christianity. Even Desmond Tutu in arguments with Dalai Lama claimed that human being / mind cannot be changed. That's total bs as Jesus himself demonstrated. But Christinity lies about it and says only Jesus can do that and nobody else can bc only Jesus is the son of God. Bologney. So none of us are sons and daughters of God?? Jesus as an older brother demonstrates what all of us CAN do if we keep trying. The story of the cross is a "fast forward story" that takes zillions of years, and meanwhile we have to take small steps.
Jesus was missing for 12 years and he reached enlightment in Tibet, even Indian yogis admit this.
And Tibetan Buddhism is "a cookbook of recipes" a very organized simple-to-understand precise immensely helpful effective instruction how to relatively fast change your being and your mind and keep transforming yourself in a consistent way, until one day... you become like Jesus (that day is NOT going to be soon lol but keep going!!!).
AND THIS TEACHING IS RIGHT THERE NEXT TO CHINA, and China is trying to kill it, because it would totally undermine the oppressive Chinese government.

Chinese are gloomy and heavy, and Tibetans smile.

So I PRAY THAT CHINA TRANSITIONS INTO AN ERA OF MORE LIGHT AND PEACE
and that they allow Tibet to exist as is as Tibetans are the key holders of spiritual knowledge on Earth - plus some yogis etc from India
In the best situation, Tibetan knowledge would spread into China

and we will know when it happens because cdramas will have that feeling, it cannot be fabricated
One thing that cannot be fabricated is that sense of lightness and humor and joy

Watch Dalai Lama or Tibetans for a few seconds and you will know exactly what that feels and looks like - it is SMILES and RADIANT SOFT GLOW

Cdramas are so cruel raw crude suffering.. so hard to watch. Somehow kdramas can depict suffering but still there is a lot more sophistication and finesse and WARMTH
