Yeah exactly he is insecure and has lots of pride and NEVER talks things through with anyone..... . He is a typical younger male anywhere LOL and I think a symptomatic "eldest son" in an asian culture. There is a lot of pressure on him to perform dutifully and bear in silence. However, he is immature :) Immature because he is not seeking a solution but suffering in silence. He has nobody to talk with. His whole environment doesnt have anyone wise. That woman who wants him to marry her is like his only "advisor"

The grandpa here has a huge family and a park full of people to play go with .... In the USA, retirement is not enough to live on and also retired ppl have no useful and fun places to spend their days....., sooo many retired people work at Wallmart and other minimal wage and super low paying hard jobs. Most retired people are far away from their children and other family members and live isolated and alone and have nobody to talk to bc neighbors dont know each other and there are NO community gathering places except in NYC or some huge city like that in summer time in parks. I think retired people can show up and volunteer in church and that's about it. In progressive cities like Berkley California there is a senior center with classes and dinners. That's about it. It is really really really sad. And dangerous. Elderly in the USA suffer from tuberculosis, which they get bc they dont eat well, and from severe falls

In the west yes :) Kdramas were different and that's why they became popular. Now Netflix and Disney smell $$$$$ so they got in and are ruining it and westernizing it .... let's see who will win. Bc ... if you westernize it, it is not a kdrama anymore and it is not worth watching :)

i beg to differ. Dramas esp long ones always depend on the feedback as the episodes are filmed during ar time very often

yeah but 50 episodes allows for a unique plot with a large group of diverse characters, and character growth

I watched again to find that clip for you. And you were correct!!!! She never said he loved someone all this time and that's why he kept dumping gfriends.

She said that he NEVER loved anyone he dated, and dated them solely on shared interests. And then mentioned some college girl saying he liked her the most.

But still somehow I concluded that ML loved Eun Ho for a very long time. It just oozes out. His conversations with the 2Ml show that too - 2ML thought ML was in love with EH and that's why he couldnt confess for SIX YEARS already.
Also EH saying to her friend she knows ML secret why he keeps dumping gfriends.

I say, ML loved EH for a very long time and his love is super deep and I am not sure what his reason is to stay quiet about it. He is the stoic first son John Wayne soldier type and that is his main character flaw. He hasnt figured something out and that is bothering him and he doesnt know how to solve it bc he HAS NO FRIENDS to talk things through, he decides everything on his own and keeps quiet about it... His main character flaw :)

every person in love will beg and push the other to enter into a relationship with them, it is called courting and confessions LOL and it is ok as long as it is tasteful and not violent, like Nice Guy Tae Ho trying to kill the competitor and blackmailing his "love interest"

Ok stop thinking and start feeling what you are watching. There were 20 ppl there but look at HIM and how he interacts with HER.

Is everyone here international audience??? No wonder kdramas are not what they used to be. You guys totally missed the plot of this drama!!!!! ML is in love with Eun Ho and he is keeping it secret.
If the comments continued to be this blind and off mark, no wonder boring stale dramas like For Eagle Brothers second half, trashy revenges and thrillers will keep being produced and ppl say that cdramas are better than new kdramas. As far as I can tell, cdramas are mostly violent and crude trash, with obvious and rather low level plots.
I think the beauty of kdramas is certain warmth, character growth, and certain FINESSE and ELEGANCE, certain SOPHISTICATION IN FEELINGS AND RELATIONSHIPS.

Let's get the head out of Hollywood and let's WATCH that which is in front of us, without thinking, or having judgments, etc WATCH before you assign the meaning to something. .

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT DRAMA AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES THIS WAY

Do you guys WATCH the scenes or you just THINK about them... ? How could you miss.... ????? Rewatch how he jumped out of the car to chase the guy to help her.... The sheer energy of his saying "there is Eun Ho again, buying used stuff... " - omg he is SO FAMILIAR with her and so caring about her.... ! and how fast he jumps out to help her... The ENERGY of it is that she is his lifelong wife.... ... how he brought her to the meeting... how he WAS with her when he was at the volunteer work..... how he looked at her watching him....
That dude is totally totally in love with her and for some reason - I dont know yet WHY - he thinks he has to let the chaebol guy have the first shot at it and the chaebol guy is sooo under the radar about it, she hasnt even noticed him, partially bc she loves the ML

Oh I forgot to mention ... the 2ML knows that FL loves ML and feels bitter jealous... watch e.g. how he lets him run after the car... ... he might even know that ML loves FL, so he is not confessing out of concern for his friend and also knowing he WILL be rejected by FL... and FL has no idea about his love.
So the love triangle is really cooking hard here.
I dont understand why ML never confessed before. Probably bc of 2ML. Seems like 2ML was already in love with her or both guys fell in love at the same time

just rewatch how he jumped out of the car to help her, or how he brought her to the meeting, or how he was with her at the volunteer remodel. He is totally 100000% in love with her. I am not sure why she was mentioning another woman's name in her talk with him. Seems like she does not know she is the woman he is in love with, or if she knows, she is masterfully hiding it, either deluding herself, or intentionally lying to save his face .
She doesnt know that the other guy loves her. ML knows it.

I think this is a great start.
the plot is a love triangle. ML is already in love with Eun Ho... but he cannot say it because his best friend is in love with her, so he doesnt want to upset him. He had to reject her coldly bc he wants to make sure she goes away. I dont see him as a cold guy. I see him as a guy who does not communicate and keeps his secret, the biggest secret that he loves Eun Ho. He is pushy competitive and also reserved etc but also warm and friendly....
did you see him jump out of the car to help Eun Ho and then at the get together and the remodel. That dude is totally a softie and at her full disposal. HE LOVES HER.

Eun Ho has no idea of the other guy yet so that's why she is so clueless. Yeah Eun Ho could be puckering her lips less but overall she is not bad, she works, and she musters courage to talk things through. The actress - well she was in DNA Love which was complete trash. She will have to learn to act. She is not terribly terribly bad though and with some effort, I think she might be ok.
The cheabol stepmom has an agenda, she wants to know who is the woman of the heir to the company. I suspect she is a villain bc she keeps lying to the Chairman. The sister is yeah mentally disabled loser but ... so far she is the only one, THANKS GOD, for example in Nice Guy the FL is like that.... !!!! that one is unsufferable.

on second thought: it could be Tae Hoo actor fan club trying to promote him.
That actor is in an interesting situation. Kdrama use racism to portray bad guys, the villains have more slanted eyes....
and bc he has more slanted eyes he is cast as the villain.... with the stern face and a muscular body and gangster speeches he looks quite creepy. Tae Hoo in this drama is a super scary guy.
But the actor is a beautiful man, as so many ppl already noticed LOL there is so much praise of his handsomness.... so I hope someone cast him one day as a smiley rom com happy good guy.

That racist trope was used in Suspicious Partner for the serial killer and in many other dramas. The slated small eyes guy with the grumpy poker facial expression is cast as the villain. It is really super rotten. Also, that less handsome ppl get minor roles and only pretty ppl get main roles. Villains have black hair and good guys bleach their hair brown. Esp female actresses get a TON of white powder on their face and look like they are acting in a Kabuki play... I dislike that. Trying to look western to grab more western audiences and their $$$$$

I LOVED Once Again drama bc it didnt use only pretty people and had a slanted eyes guy as a good guy main actor. There is one scene in kdrama Once Again (2020) when the stunt brother is doing a stunt in a colorful shirt, and he has small slanted eyes and they intentionally made fun of that situation and how he looks like a villain. But he was a good guy in the drama.

@justdoingmathang would you please provide your list of cdrama masterpieces? Besides Xuan Zhang (2016) and Steven Chow from Hong Kong films, I have not seen chinese video productions I really liked. I would like to get some ideas where to look then. Thanks.
