So my take on it: chaebol mom is up to something creepy and her target are BOTH kids. I think she is intentionally making the daugher go insane. That kid looks seriosly MENTALLY ILL already and mom is a huge part of it, telling her she cannot have any scandals. I am not sure about how the mom plans to abuse the boy but she already started doing creepy stuff with EH and that must be a part of her plan to destroy the boy.
I predict that our hot stud is going to regret marryig a sugar mama. I dont think he understands what marriage is and that he has to share a bed and his life.... he is going to be a slave from now on... . AND, I bet that HE is the "low guy she was in love with" and that she is trying to get him attached, .... **** as she already mentioned to him... **** Her dad is on it and she and dad hope he will fall for $$$$. Bc he married her for $$$$$ to begin with.
The hot stud is not all that much of a hot stud. Where are biceps and the rest of the muscles? I wonder what he does for exercise to look skinny like that. I saw it on some youtube video someone posted here that he was on a diet for 4 months bc of the swim scenes, but honestly, why wasnt he in a gym more then... ?
Sorry I am from Hawaii surf land and I African dance so I am used to strong bodies and this guy just doesnt qualify :)
The chaebol boy is a snowflake Just tell her you like her and get moving

What is interesting to me here are several "new tricks." First, ML is not a person to admire. Having a ML who is a jerk does not happen too often in kdramas..... and also to have a competent and rather secure and smart FL. This situation looks more like real life, two ordniary people from real life, rather than the fantasy drama characters where a strong perfect ML babysits a clumzy silly FL.... Also the situation of him going to another woman instead of staying dedicated to his first love from kindergarden..... THE CHARACTERS ARE FOR REAL, not just from the drama land.
Also the filming ... nothing is revealed to us, we see situations as the characters see it, so the only thing to go by are conversations..... watching this drama is like detective work, trying to figure out what is going on...
On Our Golden Days Aug 19, 2025
Ah.., at the first glance, ML is a typical insecure arrogant ORDINARY male anywhere, who thinks he is in control of everything and himself, who is so sure he knows it all, who never feels, who believes he has to be strong and independent and makes all his decisions on his own without ever talking with anyone.... Kinda - younger John Wayne lone cowboy type always riding into the sunset.....
But this one is ... worse than usual. This one is a criminal cowboy. So he doesnt want to be only deputy anymore? and he is willing to prostitute for moving up. Wow we have a new Darth Wader in the making....

Wow...I knew Ji Hyeok was considering the proposal, but when he actually agreed to it, I was still a little shocked.…
Stepmom is super creepy. I think she hired that dude to torment the kid. She is definitely trying something creepy with EH. What is she trying to get, to eliminate all kids and be the one in charge... ??

I’ve watch a lot of KDramas and I can almost bet that this marriage won’t happen our lady is definitely hiding…
I think that she loves him and that HE is the low lever guy she was in love with... and she keeps hoping they will get attached, as she already mentioned to him LOL and her father thinks so too... :) They are trying to literally BUY him, get him used to luxuries and have him stay. And he, the stupid moron, wants the money and did not think ahead of time that he will have to share his bed and his life with this other person he doesnt love. Good luck, greedy.

this reminds me of the movie Mcfarland
I will check that out.
btw "Latino" is such a big term... S Americans from mountaneous countries are KNOWN as super fast runners and long distance walkers, and they wear just flats made out of tires.... .. So if a bunch of fast footed ... say Peruvians etc decided to run... no biggie LOL they could go to the Olympics :) except that probably the kids from a poor hood in CA cannot pay nor take time to go to competitions.... but if a bunch of, say, Mexicans from a big city in Mexico decided to run, then... yeah they are as challenged as anyone else... plus if they came from a poor hood in CA...

It takes so much money and time to drive the team to competitions all over CA and then even ffuther.... it is no joke for poor parents.

Bakersfield CA is the land of farms so these kids must be related to farm laborers and that is ROUGH life
Palo Alto vs Bakersfield .... wow

I see that that movie is made by Disney and the main actors are white. I will check out how much it is really an honest movie about Latinos. It might be quite sugarcoacoated colonial story, like Moana , etc

Ok I will check it out... Sometimes Chinese produce amazing stuff like Xuan Zhang 2016 movie....
Ok I checked it out. I cannot see what you like about it. I dislike that kdrama about female general. It is just... all fluff and overly soapy dramatic voices, scenery, everything. I feel that my senses are offended and overwhelmed. It is like a HUGE LONG COMMERCIAL, everything is overdone. That is my personal opinion. You enjoy it, so enjoy :) I wont be watching that for sure.

uuuugghhh.... but cdramas .... are .... I dont want to say westernized ... but cnized LOL I dont know how to say it - they are just ... crude. A lot more rough, simplistic, and very PAINFUL, it is about suffering, and I dont feel any warmth. Kdramas are ... elegant, sophisticated, gentle, warm, positive, inspiring, uplifting, problem solving, just ... fine, classy, refined. ...
Cdramas are ... wow .... too ... dramatic.... cold... rough... sharp... suffering... hopeless... I dont know how to describe it. MILITARY. They all feel like military overly dramatic soaps, or the other extreme is extreme fakiness or overly simplistic plot. Just... not refined. I think that's the word I am looking for.
They are not westernized but communized LOL I dont know how to call it, it is just ... not right. I seldom find something I like in cdramas.

CAN YOU SHARE WHICH CDRAMAS YOU LIKE? I will check them out. I am curious to learn

I love movie XuanZhang, 2016, and all movies of Steven Chow from Hong Kong

It's so apparent that LJH is in love with Mary Poppins. Perhaps he has realized it but didn't want to mess up…
Why is he dating other women? Bc ... he cant have the one he wants and bc he is very immature insecure and proud and loves to acts AS IF he is independent and can make all his decisions all by himself.... and he must love attention and have a strong sex drive.
This is all possible bc he is very closed isolated person who never really shares his life. in short, he is ESCAPING into distractions.
That's my analysis of him at the moment

Yeah later the rich boy says he loved Mary Poppins for six years and always stayed away bc he suspected that ML loved her. So both guys are walking on eggshells around her and she is clueless about it.... :)

This drama is so cute and positive, I love this HEALTHY VIBRANTLY ALIVE bunch of boys. I love that there is no alcohol and getting ditzy and drunk and vomiting like in most kdramas. These are really really really FUN boys. I loved their dancing to celebrate. I think this is a great new role model for korean society, which ranks super high in drinking and alcohol problems. No wonder their birth rate is doing down, with so many ppl drinking, it is jus tnot healthy

I think these boys are a new hope for the future

Ah that is why I think Japanese stuff stinks... it lacks content.
Who watches dramas to see rugby??? If you want to see rugby, then watch some real life game.
The rugby drama is about the people and what goes on in the background

First, many people want to stay up to date with entertainment trends. Second, I think you answered it yourself.…
Seeing th PROCESS is possible only in longer dramas bc it takes time to show the process...

Eun Ho is scared to confess, and we see her running away from him, then practicing speaking to the wall, and finally getting out there in front of him after hiding and stalking lol and then speaking in a way that was clingy.... but hat is her PROCESS, she is learning

ppl who are used to short drama are used to seeing the results without seeing the process, s they are too critical and negative and expect perfection on the first try. It is impossible.
Eun Ho at the moment is not quite mature and clear enough yet and does not know how to talk things through properly and nail the guy down.... and ditch him if need be LOL and also who she is talking to is COMPLETELY immature, insecure and overly proud and closed, trying to be " a strong independent man" who decides everything on his own without EVER talking things through, and "perfectly responsible eldest son" kinda immature guy who runs away from his feelings instead of facing them, To him, it is easier to bike for 100 miles over hills than to FACE HIMSELF.
SO SHE IS TALKING TO A PRICKLY WALL and so she is understandbly desperate, esp as a younger woman with no experience and who, until 1 day ago, could not even muster the courage to face him. So she is growing fast. In just 2 episodes we saw her get stronger a little bit.

First, many people want to stay up to date with entertainment trends. Second, I think you answered it yourself.…
Yeah that's correct but then you have to be honest and say what your preference is, without shooting down the facts - for example that a long drama allows seeing the process of character growth. You dont like that, so ... own it. As you said, everyone has their own preferences.

yes but if they go south on lets say epsiode 36/27 etc they can ruin the entire experince i only watch 50 episode…
yeah that has been the problem since COVID, a lesser quality family dramas, but seems like it is getting back on track since Iron Family :) And, of some long drama messes up, that is not a reason to ditch ALL of them lol

Nah she stated several more reasons. The key reason is exploring the process of character growth in many diverse characters

Weekend dramas are not repetitive. Please tell me how KBS weekend dramas repeated each other? I have seen Pinnochio, Once Again, Five ENough, My father is strange, All About my Mother, Young lady and gentleman, 2 bold siblings, Its beautiful now, Live your own life, Beauty and Mr Romantic, Iron Family, For Eagle Brothers, Queen's House, Woman who Swallowed The Sun, .... and probably others that I cannot think of at the moment - and THEY ARE ALL UNIQUE, with unique characters and stories, and different costuming, etc. ALL UNIQUE. EVERY EVERY SINGLE ONE.

====>>>> In all kdramas I have ever seen, all characters and stories and costuming and "look" and energetic pattern and behaviors is unique. That is what draws me to kdramas. <<<<<<<

I understand what you are saying - every single story ever boils down to love and struggle due to egotism and circumstances LOL indeed!!!!! but if weekend dramas are repetitive to you then all short shows are repetitive too lol

Imo short dramas are useful to explore alternate and contraversial subjects, like S line, The Defects, etc. Those are bleeding edge social issues dramas... But they show little or no character growth. It is like action and poof finished.

16 episode drama has SOME time to explore some character growth.

Imo shorter dramas lead to more repetition bc you have to invent a brand new story and brand new characters every few weeks....

In any case, shorter dramas are inherently less depth bc you dont have time to show how the character grows and you dont have time to see the PROCESS of HOW it grows.

Bc of time limit, short dramas are never intergenerational and complex, where you explore relationships of the extended family and long term past behaviors etc.

I disagree with you and I think that more characters adds to the complexity of the plot because there is a more complex and more visible NETWORK OF RELATIONSHIPS
and following stories of MANY characters
and showing their efforts, their failures and tries, and the PROCESS of them growing
you cannot explore that in a short drama bc it is too complex
To untangle it, it takes time :) at least 20-30 episodes and probably more

Like in this drama - we are following IN DETAIL stories of retired dad, eldest son, daughter, 2nd son, chaebol son and his family - chaebol daughter, chaebol mother, Eun Ho and her family, friends, and cafe, etc. It is a whole bunch of charaters and stories that all mesh together. YOu can explore that ONLY in a longer drama.

In a shorter drama, e.g. Love take two, the story is about the mother and her daughter, a tiny bit about son, we just see father's face sometimes, and all other characters are just supporting. This is a 16 episode drama .... so there is some growth already, mother and daughtr are working hard to make peace, and are rehashing their relationshiop and WE SEE THAT PROCESS,.
Now her mother is stepping in too...
But ... that's about it.

In a super short drama, like Study Group or Weak Hearo Class 1, you see fighting and that's it.

In S-line, we see action, that people can see S lines. The only change we see is FL deciding in 1 sec that she will step forward, and then the detective deciding to treat his niece better bc she was molested. But we never see the PROCESS of them changing profoundly.

in a masterful family drama, you can see the PROCESS, for example in this one, Eun Ho grows from a shy wallflower to a woman who tries to speak her heart - yeah she is clingy but she made progress from where she was! it is the PROCESS
