This is her 2nd historical drama. The first one was Luoyang.
It’s quite good through 7 episodes. FL is shown to be a strong character. But how everything will develop — who knows. It’s always dangerous to watch a drama before it finishes airing. Too many screenwriters/directors elect to do something to sabotage our enjoyment 🙄
Ep. 3 I hate dramas that kill of their best and brightest at the beginning. Eldest brother Wei was extremely pleasing…
We don’t know the answers yet because the drama is different from the book. For now, main villain is Duke of Ning but there may be other forces involved.
Per the novel she's not. She actually becomes a victim in the grand scheme of things. But since this is the drama…
Right now, the main villain shown is Duke of Ning and his minions. But we don’t know who stole weapon secrets and who was responsible for fake intelligence which led ML’s family went into the trap.
ep. 4. It always bugs me that in all these dramas the crowd in the street can turn on a dime. One minute there…
The initial reaction from the crowd was orchestrated by people bad guy planted in the crowd (you can see him giving a signal). The positive reaction was organic. But I totally see your point :)
This drama going from 8.1 (episodes 1-5) to 7.9 (eps. 1-7) is really strange as episodes 6-7 were really good. Ultimately, MDL ratings don’t matter though (platforms/financiers use other metrics), so I’ve grown accustomed to not caring all that much. Especially since everything is subjective. I’ve watched 7.8-7.9 dramas that I ended up liking much better than 8.5+ dramas.

Based on the latest episode, uncle is not just a literal killer, he’s committing huge fraud that endangers the company. It’s one thing to skim some money but he’s wasting/stelaing a lot of money on a U.S. plant (which may or may not be real) using promise of future orders from hotel chain (definitely not real because the other guy don’t work for hotel chain anymore). They mentioned company taking on debt to do this — probably going to play a large part later on when ML will have to find a way to rescue the company from going under.
P.S. It’s hilarious that the Uncle said they are building employee dorms in the Texas plant. Definitely doesn’t happen here 😆
They need to stop making the fucking trope that the child is responsible for their parents death! I know of survivor's…
I honestly feel that this drama is writers purposefully trying to have as many tropes/cliches as possible. So it’s fitting to have “kid being blamed for death of parents” trope. It’s annoying but — like another poster said — at this point I’m almost immune to it 😳🙄🥺
I was gonna say I love how conflict resolves quickly in this drama but then I saw the preview: (
Yeah, but it’s pretty standard (and kind of realistic) that some screeen time needs to be spent addressing their unequal status. So we should expect a bit of happy time then some family drama time/breakup then them getting back together. Plus they have to save the company and punish the bad people too.
P.S. It’s hilarious that the Uncle said they are building employee dorms in the Texas plant. Definitely doesn’t happen here 😆
