'The Best thing's original novel was written by another female writer, Sheng Li (笙离), Not Liu Cui hu...Fake…
Thank you very much for the correction — I updated my comment. I’m currently almost done watching The Rational Life (it’s leaving Netflix soon) and that drama is almost like a predecessor of Fake It — it’s way more entertaining thoughtful and deep compared to a typical idol drama.

Title In Between
please recommend dramas like this. I’m tired of over romance dramas.
Other dramas based on this author’s work are “Fake It Till You Make It” (you will love it; it’s best realistic romance drama) and “The Best Thing” (more like a typical idol drama but much less trope-y)

For the record, the author of this novel (Liu Cuihu) also is the author of the novel which became source of “In Between” drama. And she pretty much lived FL’s life. The author graduated from top law school in China (Peking Law) and worked as corporate lawyer before becoming an author.

EDIT: She was not an author of The Best Thing drama but that’s a very good drama too.

I originally stopped on ep. 6 and I thought the show was very good up that point. But reading episode descriptions…
I may have to watch on the mobile app so I could 1.5x through the scenes with FL’s mom. I absolutely hate the trope of overbearing/annoying parents. I really wish there were mom-free edits for Best Choice Ever or Fireworks of My Heart, lol 😂… I had never skipped any scenes in dramas until midway through Best Choice Ever when FL’s mom just became unbelievably annoying and meddlesome.

I’m giving this another try to see if I can get through it. just finished “one spring night” and there was…

The wrist kiss… This drama has me screaming and giggling !! Let’s hope they won’t pull a Dynamite Kiss 😩
I hope for the best but so many dramas have good early episodes only to fail in the middle or the end, so it’s always best to be cautious.

I got it !With recent MDL rating, "No romance" or "Humble romance" with 7.0+ is the new 8.0+ rating…
Haha… The Immortal Ascension has 8.3 so it means it’s 9.3 drama then 😁

Once I started to view ZZ as Batman, it made more sense to me, but I’m still struggling to understand why ZZ…
Wouldn’t letting them “escape” be considered a huge error and would inevitably cause yamen to suffer punishment even if a local lord/magistrate was covering for them?

Okay, to make sure I understand everything correctly, are you saying that even possessing an imperial token, he can’t ask a local yamen to hold these thugs? Yamen will go, “Sorry, they are clearly law-abiding citizens. They just slipped on a tangerine peel and their swords accidentally tried to pierce you”?

I notice that a lot of viewers struggle to relate to Zhan Zhao because he is so deeply restrained and refuses…
Once I started to view ZZ as Batman, it made more sense to me, but I’m still struggling to understand why ZZ doesn’t capture & imprison thugs that constantly try to kill him. They try to kill him, an official who is performing his duties, so should they be placed in jail instead of being allowed to escape only to return later? Am I missing some important context? 🤔

Hopefully it will be released early in 2027 while there’s still snow ❄️ It has similar winter vibes as Amidst a Snowstorm of Love (not surprising because director is the same).

Uhh… most C-dramas are 30+ episodes long and have almost no intimacy, but I do agree that more adult-oriented/serious…
I think it was just the sheer quantity of making out in WDBTD that was very unusual. They obviously got away in a large part because of “dual cultivation” aspect but even other fantasy dramas like Love in the Clouds had to cut some scenes apparently. So major props to the director and cinematographer for coming up with smart ways to get around censorship (as a side note, the leads from WDBTD are shooting a movie together, so their CP shippers are going to be happy 😆)

What's wrong with you? Yang Zi is one of the excellent actresses in the acting industry. She's so talented in…
It’s not even worth it to argue with people like that — much easier to block them and move on. Before this, the last person I blocked said that IU can’t act and can’t sing which is even crazier than complaining about Yang Zi’s acting 🙄

Best Choice Ever is generally pretty good and more like a typical romcom, but you do have to fast-forward through some scenes when her mom does annoying/hurtful stuff like trying to get her back with her to rich ex and the like.

To this day I don’t understand how creators of “When Destiny Brings the Demon” got away with the insane amount of intimate content. They probably got the censors drunk and then managed to sneak under the radar of all the haters who were too busy trying to get “Moonlit Reunion” cancelled (both dramas are from the same author and came out at the same time on different platforms, but Moonlit Reuinion is a more popular book and had more popular stars, so lots more anti-fans too).

This is a romcom, so romance is in here :) There will be more cases after ep. 4, but also it’s about leads trying…
Fair point. I think you will really enjoy Love Scout. It’s a much better drama overall and it has a more of a case-of-the-week format (they are HR recruiters, so it’s about finding a job for someone or finding a good candidate… it’s more exciting than it sounds, lol) with an overall plot of a battle between the good company (our leads) and bad company/bad people. If you do start watching it, give it 2-3 episodes at least. First episode is more of a background and setting things up before it really hits its stride. There is romance, but it’s more grounded & more mature/realistic than in this drama.
