With such an erratic schedule, I almost regret starting this while it's still airing. I think I'll put ep 12 on…
We all wish episodes were released quicker but — to be fair — Chinese dramas are aired very quickly compared to other dramas. A typical K-drama is aired twice a week; US/Philippines/Japan (?) is once a week. For those dramas recaps are very useful, lol
I’m just curious, did anyone know what happened to the parents of Jiang Xu?
ML’s parents are deceased. Exactly how that happened has not been revealed. In a typical drama, death of lead’s parents would be caused by bad people 🧐
There is a possibility that LHF will premiere before HS🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At this point, “How Dare You!?” might be released before LHF or HS 🤣 It’s interesting that Tencent/WeTV, YOUKU and iQIYI all have an unreleased Wang Chu Ran drama.
Looks like they've started to target her father, sending him off to Lizhou (sp?) to deal with the flooding.
Their main goal is not so much to kill FL’s dad but rather remove him from commanding an army. The dad and ML both have armies so they are very strong militarily. So bad people are going to do everything possible to weaken them.
I get notifications from iQIYI and it’s #2 show in the app. But, yes, I wished they showed it on all startup…
Ah, I understand. I don’t really follow the platforms on social media so generally find dramas when they are recommended in MDL comments, show up on the apps, or when looking through filmography of an actor/actress. But other platforms bury good dramas too — YOUKU did that with “Wanna Be” (also known as “Hello, model!”). It’s a very solid drama, much better than “Eat Run Love” which got all the hype.
There are two things going on right now: relationship between FL & ML and then ML & Emperor investigating the…
What I personally love about AYtO is lack of dumb tropes, no illogical actions and good writing. Heroes behave logically, do not fall for traps set by evil people and avoid stupid arguments. FL is also a very great character (her and ML are made for each other). One time I got so worn down by some trope-y drama, I had to stop and rewatch AYtO to remember that not all screenwriters are bad :)

No disagreement there. Have you watched Are You the One? I really liked how the action/plot in that drama evolved from catching a local bandit to empire-wide events (and in between). That drama was more serious (although still had lighter elements) and was 40 episodes long. Probably too much to expect here.
This is how they could have saved the ending on the cheap: have a 15-30 second scene of the old man (or FL’s dad) finding a second travel amulet or finding an ancient text on fixing the current broken amulet. That would make everyone feel good and still leave it open ended enough for iQIYI to make Season 2.
This drama was so good and the writing team avoided most of the tropes… until it came to the last episode. To summarize: the show’s original script had a happy ending (HE) but then at some point the platform (iQIYI) stepped in and asked for this lame ending (possibly for budgetary reasons like reducing Carefree Land CGI expenses). This is very unfortunate because clearly the writers had little opportunity to adjust anything to make the ending makes sense. Instead, the on-screen explanations for the way the story ended are not very logical and are not really tied into the other episodes. 🥺
After what FL claimed about ML & his issue (in Ep. 10), I wonder what is going to happen the next time they are…
They clearly like each other so we are all rooting for them to do it :) Unlike, say, “Are You the One”, there’s nothing really that prevents them being intimate. Even FL’s dad wants grandchildren 🤣
How Dare You? stars Wang Chu Ran, so it’s on my to-watch list already :) Really liked her in AYtO and FoMH.
Have heard good things about Always Home so it’s on my list too. Is it somewhat similar in tone to When I Fly Towards You?
FL here seems like a rising star — I see some more unreleased dramas where she’s now a main lead.
Was ML here (Tang Xiao Tian) really in L&P? I don’t remember him and MDL doesn’t show him being in L&P.
