It’s a push from the government, as I understand. They can get around it by splitting it into multiple seasons or series (like Flourished Peony [season 1] and In the Name of Blossom [season 2]). But, also, let’s be honest — some dramas do not need to be 40-50 episodes (especially modern dramas). Drama writers oftentimes have to create filler episodes to increase episode count. For example: leads meet & get together; then they separate for some dumb reason; then they get together in the end.

I believe it took four years to teach Tier 6 (ML says it when he leaves the valley). Don’t think we were ever told his age. Maybe it was in the novel. He’s obviously very young.

ML was slowly dying (due to wound/spell his master used) and needed to get the healing jade from his master’s family. That took priority over visiting his own family.

It’s all very ridiculous. Nameless online/offline trolls can find fault with everyone. For example, Yang Zi (Andy Yang) got chastised for donating too much money during COVID (above unofficial agreed upon limit). Over in South Korea, IU was a target of an offline & online campaign accusing her of being a North Korean spy (IU is one of the nicest celebrities and even that doesn’t help 😳🥺).

Viki comments can be hit & miss. Sometimes people are just not being nice for no reason (watched a bit of “Fireworks of My Heart” with comments but had to turn them off). On the other hand, it was hilarious to watch “Motel California” with comments because everyone was so tired of it and we wanted to watch “Live Scout” (both are K-dramas, but LS is way, way better).

Chinese services are really good at monetizing this. Eventually Netflix and Amazon might do something similar in the U.S. 😒

Apparently some people in China really, really liked actor who played FL’s brother in Fireworks of My Heart, got mad some of his scenes were cut (even thou scenes with leads were also cut), came up with all sorts of conspiracy theories and tried to ruin Yang Yang and Wang Chu Ran’s reputations. Moreover, supposedly fans of Zheng Shuang (YY’s costar in Love O2O) are mad because they didn’t become a couple — that would have prevented ZS from marrying her husband (now, ex-husband) who — according to the fans — was the reason for her scandals with tax-evasion and surrogate children. It’s really wild stuff and a good reason to stay away from entertainment “news” 🥺😳😒

As I understand it, Mo Juren needed someone with a spirit root which is not something that regular people have (the quote I captured in a screenshot is “mortals do not have a spirit root”). But Mo Juren only needed someone who could attain Tier 4 of 1st stage (Qi Condensation). Han Li was told during the trial that he has a four-element spirit root (wood, water, fire, earth) which would be enough to get to Tier 4 (he’s at Tier 6 now) but not good enough to join any of the sects who look for good potential (less element = better). Now, does Han Li really have those four elements or is that some sort of a trick/ploy by FL? I don’t know because I haven’t read the novel. Clearly, though, Han Li eventually manages to become very powerful somehow. Beginning of episode 1 has him at Core Formation stage (mid-tier). That’s the same stage as Nandong Wan in Ep. 5 although the screen didn’t show her tier.

Not really. Experts told us a lot of women will be pursuing ML but it’s more about his journey than romance.
