The second season wasn’t terrible (I’d rate it Good; S1 being Very Good). Just that it could’ve been better and, honestly, a watcher could’ve skipped first 15 episodes and didn’t miss anything important 😁

Agree they could’ve made this into a single-season drama. I really enjoyed first season but writers for season 2 couldn’t help themselves to throw a bunch of cliched obstacles in the way. It’s pretty safe to start season 2 at Episode 16 or 17 because earlier episodes are mostly angst & drama 😒

I totally understand it too. Too many fakes. Right now AI can create short fragments but maybe eventually people would be able to feed it a novel, “cast” actors, select style and have AI produce a decent animation or something like that. Kind of scary future 🫣

True. There’s one Main Character (Han Li) and everyone else is part of a supporting cast.

The team making live action drama is the same team making donghua and they are huge fans of the source material. Otherwise, we’d end up with a full-on romance drama where there’s a secret teleport between ML & FL locations and spend their time working on dual cultivation (or whatever is the correct term for that 😉).

Maybe in the novel he interacts with people more often. Here they are trying to move things along quickly.

Ahhh… well, we’ll always have the snake demon cave at least. But in a proper romantic drama, HL would invite NGW to cultivate in his cozy cave instead of a bare rock she spends all her time on. Her meditating spot is very picturesque but it’s open to the elements and she must be using a lot of talismans to protect her skin 😆

It may be best to call her “the most important female character” :)
