This reminds me — there was a modern drama with Bai Lu where the wedding between the leads was actually a freaking special episode/epilogue which was not even available on Viki. It was an exclusive to some platform. 😟

So, leads aren’t together even in Ep. 11? 😮‍💨

When I get frustrated by frustrating dramas, I tend to re-watch “Are You the One”. Yes, it’s 40 episodes but everything makes sense and characters behave rationally (cannot say anything more to avoid spoilers).

Main subjects of this drama are FL’s business ventures (and women’s empowerment) and ML’s fight against corruption. It’s a mystery why the leads couldn’t be together in a happy relationship while they both cooperate to achieve their goals.

“Rose and Gun”. But overall, that show so far isn’t as exiting as, say, “Fireworks of My Heart”. Too much time is dedicated to showing unexciting training & exercises (so 1.5x speed comes in handy).

So funny to see another ongoing (modern) drama have a wedding proposal in Episode 7 and wedding in Episode 10, while we are still waiting for a love confession here after so long 😞

Upcong four episodes (9-12) look like there are going to be more eventful based on teasers.

I may wait a day or two until they finally get together and I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel :)

True. I prefer to stay away from entertainment “news” (music, TV/film) because it’s full of fakes, gossip, or unjustified outrage (true for Western media but may be even more so for C/K-related media). When there is an offline+online campaign attempting to smear IU as a North Korean spy, you know this world is crazy. Or when Yang Zi (Andy Yang) was being criticized for donating too much money for COVID relief. Some people need to get a life 😤

The problem with Fireworks may be too many deleted important scenes from before they reconnect that would set up the story a little better. We only learn piecemeal exactly what happened. FL character’s weak spot is her being filial to her adopted family — she lost her real parents and that’s why she feels even more grateful/obligated to her adopted family. That changes as she grows stronger & more confident throughout the drama. But, yes, FL’s adopted mother in Fireworks might be one of the worst (evil) modern C-drama characters when it comes to a relationship with their children. I’d say only FL’s mom in “The First Frost” is worse.

Thanks. Read all the comments on that blog. I’m amazed there was anyone who like FL’s brother character enough to go to war for the actor. That character is one of the least interesting things in that drama — during rewatching I skip most of his scenes (his storyline is superfluous too). WCR did a very good job as FL, so can’t understand complaints about her acting. Other than typical haters/anti fans, perhaps some people couldn’t understand some of the themes. It’s more for people in late 20’s or older, I think.

9/10 for me. During my rewatching, I skip most scenes with FL’s brother (his storyline is not very compelling). But firefighting & rescue scenes are great and chemistry between the leads is 🔥 🔥 🔥

Really? I’m not up on Chinese celebrity gossip. I thought Wang Chu Ran became even more famous after that and she went on to be in the excellent drama “Are You the One”. One of her modern dramas is delayed but it’s due to legal troubles with 2ML actor. And she gas another historical drama coming this year. Yang Yang didn’t have anything in 2024, but has a drama expected to be aired this summer.

In addition to U.S. shows, Japan and Philippines air dramas once a week too.

I don’t mind long or slow burn dramas as long as they are interesting. But here the military stuff is a bit boring so far. Maybe expecting everything to be as exciting as “Fireworks of My Heart” is setting the bar too high 😳

The relationship between the two lead pairs is nice, but the military scenes are not as interesting so far. There are mostly training exercises on the base and training missions. Judging by trailers, a real world mission will not come until episode 10.

I think these 16 episodes will cover the full book “Seducing Drake Palma”. There is a sequel to that book, but they would probably make it as a second series/season 2. P.S. If you want to avoid spoilers for this series, don’t look at the description of the second book.
