mistranslation?
It's exactly the wrong translation.

In the original Korean language : "속보입니다. 팔티마 공습이 이루어지고 있는 이즈마엘에서 한국인들이 무장 세력에게 납치되었습니다."
" Breaking news: In Ismail, where airstrikes are taking place against Paltima, South Koreans has been kidnapped by militants."
-the main agent of an air raid : Izumael
-the victim country : Paltima

Also, the map on the news shows that Izuel is attacking Paltima.
People in Korea are baffled why these mistranslations are on social media and why the drama should be unfairly criticized and hope the right information spreads.

This is a comment from the MDL article about the controversy. Someone who knows Korean please save us from this madness. Wow we are still in makjang world even after the drama ended.

This whole show has been ruined by Netflix mistranslations. I am so so mad right now.

It's even worse than I thought. This whole thing is a mistranslation. Omg. If it turns out to be a mistranslation by Netflix I will go riot because that's really really bad. The mistranslations of this show have been so egregious.

=sigh= Sick as I am of reading all these inane comments which do not really explore what the drama is all about…
Yeah the ratings on Google for that show make no sense and I now understand why.

People have unearthed twelve year old comments from YYS calling him misogynistic even though he hasn't shown that pattern of behavior since then. It's all so sad that the drama is being ruined like this. MBC needs to do something to protect the actors or KingKong by Starship needs to protect their two biggest stars right now.

I completely glossed over that scene and carried on. It didn’t even occur to me til I went online lol. 10/10…
Many of the peopel commenting now didn't notice it and it wasn't very successful propaganda if that's what they were going for but of course people are creating a huge issue out of it.

I feel bad for the actors and MBC should apologize and remove or redo the scene for the sake of the actors who worked hard and made it a success. But the use of the conflict in Gaza to fuel many of these hate trains is sad to see.

I loved this drama and honestly I missed the scene, it's funny how so many people are only just commenting or…
Yep it's a rush to jump on a hate train over ten seconds of something they didn't notice that admittedly didn't affect their opinion of the drama as a whole at all or influence their views on the issue. Pathetic how the war in Gaza has been used to fuel many of these hate trains.

It's pretty obvious what's going on here. There's a huge hate train coming for this drama and I frankly don't understand why. It has made the whole viewing experience terribly unpleasant and I don't think I will be participating in something like this again. K-drama watchers are making it toxic.

It's ten seconds of the drama. Ten seconds of the last few moments of the drama. You guys are making it sound like the entire drama was about that when it wasn't. It's astonishing, over the top and unproductive.

Title When the Phone Rings Spoiler
I honestly think Yu Yeon ghosting her makes perfect sense? Both for the character and just as a kdrama trope.…
It felt natural to me too and the show foreshadowed it. I thought the scenes between Park Do Jae and Hong Hee Joo explained it well. I loved all the scenes where Hong Hee Joo figured out how much Yu Yeon or Sa-eon had cared about her in the earlier stages of their marriage. The execution of the disappearance and in particular where he disappeared to could have been better explained, but I understand it.

There's been some controversy over the fact that the scriptwriters may have included an insensitive reference to the conflict in Gaza and if this bothers you, don't watch. This show is very very Wattpad coded because it's adapted from a webtoon. The male lead is extremely flawed as an individual and the story revolves around how one phone call changes their lives and the lives of their families. A lot of internet reviewers did not find the ending satisfying but I was able to accept it given the character archetype of the male lead. The show relies heavily on foreshadowing, allusions, and symbolism. You actually have to pay attention because some of the plot points are very subtle or the penultimate episode won't make sense. I would recommend you start it. If you aren't interested in the show by ep 3 or ep 4, you shouldn't continue.

Should have dropped after three episodes. I will continue to enjoy the trashiness. If it's cringe, then it's my type of cringe.

You are too right. I am behaving like a novice because I am one but it's frustrating to see the lack of constructive reviews of the whole show from people who have completed it.

So are there going to be comments on MBC's page? How successful do you think encouraging a boycott of this on MDL will be? How many people visit MDL?

It was really good in first 3 episodes then kept going down the hill from there. Everything was so unrealistic…
May I ask why you continued it after episode 3? Why didn't you drop it if you found it cringe?

Yes, and that's what makes it enjoyable. People expecting realism are expecting too much. This show was for pure entertainment and wasn't meant to be a commentary on relationships in real life.

Drama pages always get particularly toxic right after a drama ends, for some reason (especially popular ones).…
Yeah, I will admit this is the very first time I have watched and experienced the hype of a show simultaneously. I usually wait until dramas end, go on my streaming service and start clicking through the dramas. I never try to continue the ones I don't like based on the first one or two episodes. It seems so many people continued this show out of FOMO even though they should have dropped it ages ago and are now mad that other people liked it.
