Exactly my sentiments. The writing could have been much more solid, and there was really no need to make the characters so extremely cutesy. It ends up undermining what could have been a more grounded story. I also wish the “fake sibling” angle had been handled better. If both characters had always known there were no blood ties, the dynamic would have felt far less uncomfortable and more believable.

Overestimated based on profile eventhough the amount of free time was questionable. It’s entirely my fault to judge a book by it's cover profile. Spice always wins over flavour

TBH, I almost replied to a comment that directly called ZLS fans “crazy” by name. Then I remembered that we can’t change people’s beliefs, and some comments simply don’t deserve free rent in our heads. No fandom is full of saints and fan wars have clearly misplaced basic humanity somewhere along the way. When ZLS was sick, Weibo managed wheelchair jokes and death wishes, and a recent livestream mishap was celebrated with the same enthusiasm.
I enjoy horror, so I did watch DDR’s drama, but skipped rating or adding it to my watchlist because of similar comment-section energy on that page. Here, a tax allegation and a workplace bullying issue are trying to be framed as a “fan war,” even though they have nothing to do with ZLS or her fandom. So don't waste your time explaining.
For peace of mind, skipping comment sections works wonders. Read a few reviews in the 6.5–9 range, then decide for yourself. MDL ratings are a joke , though a handful of neutral reviewers still exist. As a casual drama viewer(I admit, I have a special interest in ZLS as a person and an actress)I was genuinely looking forward to this drama based on the trailers and the non blood related , knew from the beginning, step-romance storyline.

There is a difference, though. I didn’t check X for two days, and LA aired quietly without billboards or trending searches, so I completely missed the first two days. In contrast, DT had a confirmed schedule and people were waiting from midnight to midnight starting on the 9th.

So it isn’t a direct copy. iQIYI also released promotional materials and trailers in advance, and the actors updated their display pictures as well. None of that happened for LA. Nothing matters anyway 😌

Many families have both adopted and biological children, and it’s impossible to imagine them developing romantic feelings for each other later in life. Emotional bonds formed over years matter. Even if there is no blood relation on paper, he was her real brother for a long time, and those feelings shouldn’t simply disappear.
In this case, we can justify it mainly because one person knew the truth from the start, not because “they’re not related on paper,” which I don’t see as a valid argument on its own. I was interested in watching this drama mainly for the storyline ( I am not a fan of both) and initially thought it would be similar to 'Go Ahead' ( Which is my 5th all time favourite ). However, I feel there is a difference between characters who are not blood-related but are raised genuinely as siblings, and stories where everyone is aware from the beginning that they are not related.
In cases where people grow up believing they are real siblings, it naturally raises ethical and emotional questions for me. For example, if an adopted child later learns about their origins, does that suddenly change the nature of those long-formed family bonds? It will actually make people to think twice before adopting.
It is just a drama and we don't need to question everything. The trailers looked promising, but I’ve decided to wait for more detailed real reviews.

Yes, she really worked so hard to get where she is now. Black Veil Bride and DWK were absolutely setting the industry on fire, obviously. And considering her near-fatal illness, she looks quite fragile but still managing, you know, walking, breathing, existing. I sincerely hope she gains a little weight so she can get back that baby-face she apparently owes the world.

Meanwhile, I’ve dropped dramas rated above 8 on Douban by episode 4, because guess what? Personal taste exists. And sure, I could rate them a 1… but I don’t waste my energy on something I don’t even finish.

Honestly, this whole debate reminded me of a fun fact: changing someone’s belief about anything is pretty much a mythical event. Less than zero probability. A unicorn situation.

So let’s be clear — I don’t care about that rating system the way some fandoms worship it. People around me don’t either. My friends, colleagues, even my family enjoyed this show. We watch to relax and have fun — not to treat Douban scores like holy scriptures.

All I said was it’s a huge success despite the 6.5 rating. Not a masterpiece, not the next classic drama of the century. Just something I loved.

I am following all these since Lusi got sick and I exactly know how chinese entertainment works and I read reviews on douban. I don’t understand why you are still hanging on ratings while I clearly said ratings is not something casual viewers including me consider. To make it clear LA is a huge success and topped yunhe annual chart in 29 days despite of poor 6.5 douban rating . Happy 😊
