They cannot live a good and peaceful life with someone suffering from PTSD and zero treatment(if they decide to stay in some country side,SR must get a degree in psychology). Because of this movie, I read lots of medical articles and watched interviews with people suffering or recovered from PTSD(mostly from US army deployed in Afghanistan). Ending sufferings together will be the happy ending for them other than living a miserable life with a PTSD patient who cannot get better, as per the letter.
