Her father was stubborn and lazy. Not everyone is meant to be a farmer, I understand that there’s love for land BUT when your family is starving, you do what you have to do.
He could have sold his land. He could have went to town or another village and look for a job as a labor to send money from time to time. Yinzi could have gone to town to be a maid, nanny, dishwasher etc… OR even marry someone else from another village. Any of the listed options would have been better than digging for roots on other people’s properties.
Her useless dad insisted on being a farmer even though he sucked at it. That’s stubborn. You can tell the man was selfish, the way he was stuffing his face all the time IN FRONT OF HIS STARVING CHILDREN. The man brings out rage in me, I just can’t understand him.
