hello! In the novel, situ ling is a supporting character. He admired Ming Yi for her strength and independence and knew that she didn't need saving. he was always quietly available. I understood his character as more "I can treat you better than he can", but yeah he stood no chance against Ji Bo Zai lol. I wouldn't say he was evil, just petty towards JBZ bc he watched someone he cares about get hurt. he never really made trouble for them, the most was probably when JBZ abandoned MY, STL came to her with lots of food. like he would make it a bit hard for JBZ to join in but he wasn’t evil.
the drama has changed quite a few things compared to the novel. one of them being that STL’s charatcer is more active now. in the latest trailer (3), STL says ‘I will not let you die”, he’s saying that about Ming Yi. then in the next scene he gets stabbed by a woman who says “that means you’ll have it give up the golden millet dream”. that woman was not in the novel at all so they added her in the drama. I think from that point on STL will be controlled by her or affected by that stab and will turn into a villain. I’m hoping he still retains his original essence like in the novel and Returns normal but he might become obsessed with saving her and stuff cos it’s rumoured that he forces Ming Yi to get married or something which also didn’t happen in the novel lol. also in the novel he had no yuan power but it looks like he can use it in the drama so we’ll see what happens cos I have no idea how 🤣
I’m also tired of obsessed 2ml as well HAHAHAA they feel so unnecessary. but at the beginning he’s genuinely just one sided love. he never crossed her boundaries and Ming Yi just saw him as a younger brother, but in the drama he looks same as as her now lolol. can’t wait for Oct8 😆

fast forward they go to one of the cities for the practice match. they formed a team of around 4. JBZ, MY and 2 others. rn they were at a disadvantage bc they never performed well and had never worked as a group. the other 2 members didn’t rlly trust JBZ, and JBZ didn’t rlly care to make an effort to work as a team. they were hit with the hard reality and the tournament that it wasn’t so easy. everyone else altho may not be as strong as them could work together. they found themselves being targeted often bc they would separate and that’s bad in these large scale mountain night time matches. the goal was to get to the top of the beam closest to the moon first and then longest. each whole team that makes it there together first and for enough time wins. everyone else is they get tapped on the back of the neck is automatically eliminated. some stuff happens, MY doesn’t hold back. it’s reveals she has white pure Yuan power. shocked to find out it’s Ming Xian!! stuff happens they get to the real six cities tournament they’re fighting. then something happens Ming yi finds out her real dad is the eunuch subordinate of the empress that spared her life. but he’s in danger. the empress’s side has kidnapped him to lure Ming Yi and JBZ to Chaoyang city. they decide to go. btw JBZ and MY built trust on each other but aren’t rlly going out w each other. he loves her but she doesn’t kno if that’s rlly love. then the big reveal, when they get to the city, it’s revealed JBZ is actually the emperor and empress’s son. the son the empress always wanted. she was pleased to see him and expected him to be happy but he was not. he did not see these people as his family. he was abandoned as a child. the truth gets revealed
JBZ and MY were swapped at birth. well not rlly. basically as babies, MY was born with the brightest form of red meridians. this is super important hc it means they’ll be a very strong yuan fighter. her parents are distant relatives of the empress (they’re from the same clan but not rlly related). JBZ was born from the Empress but without red meridians. The empress was shocked. she got her eunuch to find a baby with red meridians and that was actually his baby. but he didn’t tell her that was his child. he was forced to give Ming Yi to her. since this is xianxia they had a way to make her a man but she could always change back to a girl. While Ming Yi grew up in the palace, trained like a robot to be a fighter machine, JBZ was sent by the subordinate to a slave camp in Muxing City. he periodically would check up on how JBZ was doing. this was his punishment for the empress. if his daughter was fighting everyday to the death like a sword, then he’d make the empress’s son fight to the death in another way. at that slave camp the owners would force JBZ to eat poison, lots of poison and he slowly stated becoming immune to them. Ming Yi was also being poisoned by the empress. slowly each year, to control her but also so in the future when her second son is old enough to take over as heir she will disgard Ming Xian. and that’s exactly what she did. unfortunately for her, her second son was born with not any real fighting talent. he was also lazy and hot headed. at around the age of 10 or 14 JBZ’s red meridians appeared. he became stronger and stronger and fought his way out of the camp. red meridian and strong yuan power was uncommon in Muxing city, so he was taken in to be cultivated and trained. he slowly became one of the strongest. that’s why Ming Yi needed to go to JBZ to get the antidote. only he had one left.
after hearing this. JBZ said nothing. Ming Yi was worried that he would take it badly because well she was the reason he had to suffer so much as a child. bc she took his place. the emperor welcomed his real son JBZ and intended him to be his heir bc he was so strong he could win for Chaoyang but what they didn’t expect was JBZ had no intention to do so. he frankly did not care. he fought for Muxing city not for Chaoyang. they weren’t his parents. he had no parents. he was abandoned. these people are nothing to me, is what he thought to himself. but he had a reason for staying there and pretending to go along with it bc he still had justice to uphold.
in his childhood only one person cared about him. it was this last, she was a distant cousin of the concubine in Chaoyang city. she didn’t deserve to die. her husband killed her. he was angry. (I can’t rmb what ge did to resolve it but yeah he was not nice in Chaoyang lol)
then MY and JBZ and their team left for Cangxue or Feihua to hide bc Chaoyang was searching for them. they weren’t gonna let them go so easily. while there, it was quite cold and snowed a lot, but they were able to find refuge for a bit. however so many girls there were treated so badly to get married off that people who gave birth to girls would drown them for fear that they would be taken from them and lived as a way to make more children. eventually that city had more men then girls. JBZ and MY did Everythint they could to hide as many children into their home and eventually took them back to Muxing once they resolved things there.
later they had to have an war basically with Chaoyang city. JBZ and MY was in love, they lived and died together they were inseparable. unfortunately at that time Ming Yi didn’t know that JBZ had agreed to marry the princess in Muxing city to secure the army force to fight Chaoyang. he kept Ming Yi in the dark while she was preparing her wedding stuff expecting to marry him. for her marriage was sacred. one person for life. she would never accept someone already married. she was lied to. the whole time JBZ kept telling her “whatever happens, you must trust me”. but the day came when she found out that he had gotten married. she has closed her heart. she felt embarrassed, betrayed and like a fool. how could she trust him? there was no turning back. he tried to explain to her, but she didnt care. it was over.
he became the emperor of all the six cities. while each city got to have their own “emperor” that would over see each of the cities, now there was a king above all and that was JBZ. MY was the queen/empress of Chaoyang city. she did everything she could to give back to the people and make sure they could survive. after all, she was raised there, and fought for them, Chaoyang is special in her heart, it’s her city, her home.
since she had broken off with JBZ, and ruled Chaoyang she decided to have a harem. why could men have so many women but women can’t do the same? she told them, if you can fight me and win then you can make the rules since you can, I will do what I want. she’s so badass!! 🔥🔥

the six cities tournament is very important. there are six cities (Muxing, Chaoyang, Feihua, Cangxue and I can’t rmb the rest lol), basically this tournament has multiple like diff competitions within like group, artefact healers, etc) and the top three cities who win get to receive benefits. the lower 3 cities must offer resources, food, etc and gift them to the top 3 cities. this can be extremely important. the top 3 also get to brag 😂. back when Ming Xian won for Chaoyang, it was important that he always won. the empress drilled it into him because Chaoyang city was situated in an area that wasn’t easy for farming or agriculture so they relied heavily on winning first place to secure resources from the lower 3 cities to sustain their citizens for the next year. and this happened every year bc Ming Xian kept winning. For Ming Xian, winning no1 wasn’t that important. he won for his city, for his people, that’s why he was that legendary.
Muxing city was the lowest city, that’s why the other envoys came to gather at Muxing. mainly to receive their resources but also so they all kind of have a conference before the upcoming tournament. two important people to note at that gathering is Shen Tialin (he was Ming Xian’s master and teacher. he was incredibly strict with him. if it was easy for Mingxian, he would not make it easy. this was all to train him to be stronger. but he loved him dearly and is still trying to locate Ming Xian. he doesn’t believe he actually died. another important person to note at the gathering is Zhengtian (I think that’s his name) he was always second to Ming Xian. every year they would compete and he would end up losing. he saw Ming Xian as a rival but respected him very much. they were kind of friends. he also doesn’t believe Ming Xian died and dreams of the day they can compete again. bc Ming Xian was the only one who was on par and fought with honour and fairly. btw Ming Xian was basically like a robot back in Chaoyang. he only trained and trained and trained. all his winnings were taken and looked after by the empress. he actually lived very humbly, only focusing on cultivating, getting stronger and learning more. Zhengtiang is typical muscle head. only cares about cultivating and yuan fighting. doesn’t rlly care about anything else lol. but the difference between them was responsibility. JBZ was very confused why suddenly everyone cared sm about MY who he had discarded 🤣🤣 (this chap was so funny and satisfying)
later it was discovered that MY has a talent for artifact forging which Muxing city lacks, and they needed her. even if she was a woman. some stuff happens JBZ’s suspicions were confirmed when Shen tialin was pretty mad at him. Shen tialin confronted MY. he said why didn’t u tell me? Ming Yi said “I don’t want to worry you, I don’t even know if I can live. at that time he knew I would be poisoned after being so injured”. Shen tialin said “when are you going to come back?” MY said she can’t. I’m not Ming Xian, I’m Ming Yi. Ming Yi isn’t ur disciple.” Shen tialin scoffed, “I only had one disciple successor and that was you. and it’ll alway be you. doesn’t matter if you are a girl or boy”.
later JBZ confronts Zheng tiang and said why didn’t you tell me?” Zheng Tiang confused said, no one knew. I had my suspicions bc I thought I felt her yuan power before, but there was no way right? who knew she was Ming Xian. you should take care about her better: she’s lived a hard life. JBZ said nothing….
later some stuff happens she also enters the academy as a artifacr forger. some stuff happens one day JBZ returns home urgently. at that time MY goes to investigate about that hidden courtyard, mysteriously protected by yuan shield. but just as she gets into the tiny shed and sees how there is nothing, she notices a huge dark dense, yuan energy infiltrate the area. and suddenly a person staggers into the tiny shed that she was hiding in. that person was JBZ. he was injured and covered in blood. in a moment or wavering she rushes to him, he instantly tenses up and says “who’s there” then realises it is her. he’s angry why she’s there but also heavily injured and doesn’t have the energy to ask questions. out of protection his spirit beast, the black dragon engulfs the space and tries to attack MY, but MY is strong and isn’t fazed. the Dragon thought it could scare her but realised wouldn’t work so he gave up lol. MY’s own spirit beast, the cat came out and slapped the dragon lol. the dragon is scared of the cat. pretty cute. then outside is a mob of angry fighters form the academy demanding to see JBZ bc he killed one of them that was heavily respected for being fair. btw JBZ doesn’t have a good reputation. hes super strong but not rlly a team player type of guy.

bla bla bla some stuff happens, bc of the new lead on the dress, the investigator narrowed it down to all people who own green fabric. this mulan green rogue dresss was very uncommon and special bc it was banned so only a few people had it. MY wasn’t too worried bc she knew if JBZ gave her that dress, that meant he had ways to get the fabric, and he wasn’t stupid, he would have used other channels or means to attain this, he wouldn’t buy it like a normal person would. so the investigator checked the account books and found nothing.
just then, STL arrive at the house, sent to inquire about the inventory they have and if they had any green fabrics in the house. at that time im pretty sure MY and JBZ was separated. MY was smart and pretended that she had fallen out of favour from JBZ. he no longer cared about her. she paraded herself into town acting or pitiful. at that time she knew why JBZ wasn’t coming home. it was bc they needed to put some distance from each other. act as though they weren’t that close so JBZ wouldn’t get implicated in the investigation. MY was smart and knew he wouldn’t come home for like a month to ease suspicions. so she helped him even more by completely throwing herself for everyone to see that she has been abandoned. she went all the way to the tea house where JBZ was with the top courtesan. she was at the bottom and cried “my lord my lord” “this is unfair, don’t you love me?” and JBZ was furious and yelled at bu xiu (his guard, subordinate) to handle her. but deep inside that was also an act to make everyone think he truly was mad at her. he was relieved to know she came all the way here and knew what he intended to happen. but he was a bit worried that she was actually upset. btw throughout that time the got closer and he really thought she was simple an nothing to be suspicious over.
then one day, Bu Xiu notified JBZ of a unknown worker in the house. he didn’t do anything suspicious tho but he just came one day. JBZ raised an eyebrow and told him to keep an eye for him. that person was Ershiqi. then one day while Ershiqi was trying to scout out the house he returned like normal only until JBZ asked him “where have you been?” he originally didn’t pay any attention to him until he saw some moss at the bottom of his shoe. this was bad. how could JBZ even notice that? it’s bc that moss was only found in one part of JBZ’s house, somewhere important.
at that time STL had told MY that there was a special place in JBZ’s house that had a secret. and that’s why Ershiqi was investigating. they thought it might be where the antidote was. but there was nothing there but a memorial and a small tiny house thing. but it was protected with a huge yuan shield. a very thick one. MY however didn’t know what was going on. she didn’t hear from Ershiqi at all. she got worried. Bu Xiu and Madam Xu was notified if MY said anything. MY couldn’t help it and went to look for him. at that time Madam Xu told her she must not go outside for like 3 days or smth. it was a test. if she ignored the order then she was guilty. but she did go, she went to find Ershiqi, her only family now, her apprentice, her brother. JBZ was furious. he confronted her. She asked him “where is he? what did you do to him?” JBZ snickers, who is he? he’s that important to you huh. you lied to me. he gave her a chance to explain, MY at that moment knew there was no going back. she would probably die but it didn’t matter. the only thing that mattered was if Ershiqi was alive. Ming Yi knew she didn’t have much time left, maybe a couple months to the end of the year. her time was running out, but she still cared about ershiqi bc she knew what JBZ was like. JBZ, seeing that MY refused to explain nor answer his questions, he smiled and told Bu Xiu to lock them up until they say something. give them time to create a story. Bu Xiu followed his orders and threw them into the jail shed. he was confused why MY would do this, he thought if she just explained to him what was going on, he would understand. but MY didn’t know JBZ like they did. she only knew he was cruel and hated traitors the most. but that didn’t matter, only Ershiqi mattered. once inside, MY asks him if he’s alright. did they do anything to him. Ershiqi says, “why did you believe them?” “ofc nothing happened to me” Ming yi says “I know now. now she realised this was all test” and she has failed that test. JBZ, after eavesdropping outside the shed, realises they discussed nothing interesting but confirmed they knew each other stormed off. he ordered no food or drink until they talk. Bu Xiu was worried if MY could endure the harsh conditions of the shed, it had rained and she was a weak girl. but Ming yi didn’t say anything. MY had truly fallen out of favour from JBZ.
JBZ basically threw her out. but didn’t let Ershiqi go with her. she couldn’t explain what their relationship was, only said he’s like her brother, he followed her here, he has no home. JBZ said that since MY was still his person (registered as her concubine or smth, no he has no wife), he still had ownership over her. he said I won’t hurt ershiqi, I will look after him here, but he can’t go with you. at that time MY trusted nothing would happen to Ershiqi so she left. luckily JBZ had gifted her so much gold and valuables that she was able to buy a store front shop, upstairs with a house.
oh YEAH I remember something important whoops!! the reason why JBZ was implicated in the dress thing was bc Zhang tai reveals everything. she found out the guy she made love and got pregnant with had an affair and she was filled with rage. a bit unstable and didn’t care anymore. she wasn’t important to him, her baby was bc they needed a heir. she was extremely mad and revealed everything bc it would get him in trouble. and this is why MY was being investigated by STL. but STL trusted her so it didn’t matter, he would listen to her, and that’s why JBZ And MY had to pretend she has fallen out of his favour) I forgot this huge part lol.
back to the new house/ store MY bought. bc Zhangtai had nowhere to live now and was pregnant, MY couldn’t let her struggle alone and let her live in her house. she taught Zhangtai how to make money and sell things to earn her share to live there and also to keep her busy. some time passes and when she comes back there’s another woman in the house. it’s Zhang tai’s cousin. MY walked up to the closet and hiding inside was a little boy. the mother apologises she was actually the concubine of a man that recently died and all the wives were being exiled but she escaped with her son. but rn a son was missing and he was his heir and very important. but she promised MY that her son would take her last name, not her husbands. and they intended to help the business. she was good at embroidery so MY let them stay. it wasn’t like she was going to kick them out. some time passes, next time MY returns they have already built quite a good business and are doing well. then she realises the little boy has red meridians. he has future as a powerful yuan fighter if he trains.
back to when STL arrived at the house to investigate the green dress, a fire broke out. Madam Xu and Bu Xiu was trying to save the house. only the inventory area was completely burned. at that time, JBZ was not home, MY was outside too but rushed back when she heard the news. Bu Xiu and Nanny Xu watched as MY did everything she could to save what was remaining. Nanny Xu had broken her arm. everything was chaotic. then the officials arrived with JBZ. the officials wanted to investigate the inventory but it was all burnt down. JBZ was mad. seeing that MY was still out of JBZ’s favour, Nanny xu and Bu Xiu came to her defence saying that she helped them. MY said since they can’t check the inventory you’re no longer implicated. JBZ was relieved but still wasn’t happy. once MY fell out of his favour, there was no turning back. he hated liars the most. he did have suspicions how the fire started tho. it was reveals that MY concentrated her yuan power to that area and was able to locate the inventory area and completely burn it.

back to the investigation on the mysterious murders, the investigation couldn’t find any leads. so they started to really target the dancers. the main investigation guy, was frustrated and was trying to pin it on MY. this all happened at another hall dinner where JBZ was invited an MY was brought along. MY being frustrated but also acting, said “why are u focusing on the girls? you should be investigating anyone who enters and leaves and made contact with him. it’s not just the girls…” (something like that, I can’t rmb the exact reason she gave but it made sense), the investigator was shocked, he finally had a new lead. thanked MY and went to investigate what things in contact with the green dress would be deadly. JBZ however, was not pleased at all. his plan was actually to have MY bring the green dress in, have a dancer blames and that would be the end of the murder story, there would be no leads. what he didn’t expect was that MY was too smart for her own good and actually gave them a new lead. so he was not rlly happy with her. MY, didn’t realise why he was upset. she genuinely didn’t know JBZ’s plan and that he was involved with the murders lol.

MY was suspicious but refused to move. she stopped in her place. then some sort of like guards bandits on the empresss (Muxing City), coming and surround her. what they don’t know is that although Ming Yi’s meridians are extremely damaged, she still can use them to an extent… bc she’s been cultivating and being very careful. she’s one of the strongest fighters so she’s quite knowledgeable). basically she uses her yuan power and attacks them. btw Ming Xian has the purest form of yuan power (one of the strongest), and it was a signature colour of Ming Xian so she needed to be careful not to be noticed. eventually they all got beaten up, but just around the corner was JBZ and a couple of those important officials/emperor dude. worried to be seen, just in time a young boy witnesses what had just happened. he was dumbfounded. but just as MY was discovered by the boy, JBZ and the officials arrived. MY acted all innocent, was on th ground weeping. she thanked the boy (who is Situ ling) for helping her beat those bad guys up. bc of this, JBZ praised the boy and said he had a promising future. luckily for Ming Yi, STL didn’t expose her. he was actually quite grateful for her bc he got a promotion (he’s in the justice department). but later MY has a misunderstanding and thinks he might expose her but actually he wouldn’t bc he actually likes her. he has no yuan power so he thought she was very cool for a girl to have one. she was strong. he felt that JBZ treated her poorly and that she deserved better. STL and MY were more sibling coded in the novel. he has unrequited feelings for her but she never returned them. she saw him as her little brother. very different from JBZ. a good person lol.

eventually JBZ finds MY to be quite helpful. she is very perceptive and understands exactly what JBZ’s intentions are so she becomes quite useful. JBZ wants her to go to the dancing hall again to do something for him. she wants her to bring a geeen mulan rouge dress into the dancing hall. but it can’t have any connection to him. MY understanding this says, “I need to meet up with my friend in the dancing hall”, JBZ smiles bc MY understand that he wants her to have her own reason to go. MY’s friend is Zhangtai who was her only friend back at the dancing hall. the other girls didn’t like how MY was pretty and stuff and made her life harder, but MY had a idgaf attitude. once inside the hall, another girl, a girl who never liked MY the most, told her to give her the green mulan dress to wear instead. she was basically like “you’re so arrogant now huh, just bc JBZ favours you. it’s not forever, don’t get all high and mighty” basically telling her to know her place lol. so she gets other girls to basically grab the dress off of her. MY smiles and gives her the dress. MY was gonna perform in the hall in that dress bc while she caught up with Zhang tai she realised she was actually pregnant and sick. and she was hiding it, so Zhang tai asked MY if she can dance in her place. MY said fine but ZT will owe her. but yeah she gave the dress to the other girl and went on to perform. after the night it was discovered another murder occurred. someone had died again. This time the investigative department was at a loss, they had no clues. MY, realised that it was the dress which on its own wasn’t dangerous, but mixed in with something the guy who died had, was poisonous and deadly. btw that guy before he died thought MY was very pretty, and he really liked the green dress she was wearing. the dress’s colour is uncommon now bc they banned it after a consort or lady had an affair or something and was ordered to die (I can’t rmb the exact details sorry), and then that was when MY swapped dresses with the mean girl. and then the mean girl tended to the guy who died so she was the last person with him. after the dinner MY realised what JBZ had done. and was like dam this dude, if it was me, would he even save me? so throughout that period MY is constantly reminded by herself not to completely trust JBZ. he was a simple man. he liked women, he would also never settle. and that didn’t align with her values. as Ming Xian, she was a boy who grew up knowing that women can only have one man. they are faithful to them for life. so as a woman, Ming Yi, she expected her man and future husband to also be loyal only to her. but this idea was uncommon and unheard of bc men were essentially seen as higher bc they were the only ones who had yuan power to become fighters so women were always seen as under them.
then a couple things happen in the house, bla bla bla, we get introduced to Er Shi qi who we find out is Ming Yi’s body guard kind of. he actually followed her from Chaoyang city to Muxing City. back in Chaoyang, Ming Yi/xian got to choose someone to train and out of everyone, Ershiqi was the only one who didn’t seem to like her. so she chose him. at that time he was very rebellious and refused to follow her orders and instructions, but Ming yi would never complain. she was patient with him. after a while, Ershiqi realised being bad wouldn’t work on her so he did the opposite, he did exactly what she wanted him to do. sh taught him how to channel yuan power and helped him train to be stronger, and eventually he did get stronger. then he stopped being rebellious and they got closer. however, the fatal day when Ming Xian disappeared, he couldn’t abandon her. he tracked her down and followed her to Muxing City. (it’s not clear if he followed her or if they came together but he appears at JBZ house and warns MY that JBZ has arrived, this is when MY was in his study trying to find the antidote), JBZ brought home a girl that day (he was forced to bc the royal family were trying to control him and have more eyes and ears at his home so that girl was there to kind of spy), this is bc JBZ is the strongest fighter in Muxing city and they might win the six cities tournament bc of him

the novel starts off where JBZ is at a hall with a few important people and he’s sitting at a table with his friends. MY is a dancer waitress at the hall and while she’s serving guests she accidentally drops a cup and it rolls and stops in front of JBZ’s leg. JBZ is a womanizer, douche, very confident in himself, he’s blunt, has a particular type of women he likes. the ones that are pretty, delicate, weak, someone he can protect. MY apologises for dropping the cup, and JBZ says “why don’t you come home with me?” JBZ friend laughs at him and says to MY, “don’t be fooled, you’re not the only girl he said that to tonight, better for u to come home with me, I wont treat u badly, whereas he’d get bored of you”, MY says thanks to JBZ but bc she cares about stability and money she declines and agrees to the Friend, JBZ annoyed, offers her more and she agrees.
once at his house (outer courtyard) we find out more of MY’s past. before coming to Muxing city, she was known as Ming Xian (the 7th time six cities tournament winner from Chaoyang city) she was extremely powerful and legendary and the youngest winner. however a year ago Ming Xian disappeared. he was never seen again nor did he compete in the six cities tournament. that was because, Ming Xian was poisoned. for a yuan fighter, their meridians are really important and bc of the poison, her meridians were extremely destroyed and twisted together. once it gets rlly bad, she would die. at that time she had no idea how she got poisoned and how long for. the day she was disposed of she felt sick and in so much pain and asked for help but she came face to face with her mother, the Empress, who told her subordinate to dispose of her and take care of the body. at that moment MY was confused why her mum wanted to kill her. lucily, a eunuch (the subordinate) didn’t dispose of her body, instead he saved her, but barely. he told her to find someone in Muxing City, he was the only one who had the antidote and that person was JBZ.
Back to the story. once at JBZ’s house, MY and JBZ were very lovey dovey. when she was introduced to Nanny Xu (who takes care of things at the house), nanny Xu assumed she was only here for a month at most. like most girls JBZ brought home. she pitied MY a bit. but she was also astonished at how blatant and greedy MY was. MY didn’t hide her love for gold and materialistic things so whenever JBZ wanted to spend the night more intimately she was always satisfied with the gold he would offer her lol. however, as soon as he brought her home, someone from the investigative department came knocking on his door. there was a murder. right after all the guests left the town hall for dinner that night, one of the men (I can’t rmb his position but he was kind of important) died. and they were investigating all people especially the dancers who were able to interact with everyone. JBZ said he checked MY and there was no way she could’ve killed that guy, so they said ok and did the formal basic requirements and then left. while she stays at his house there’s more about the murder etc. while JBZ is out doing is work, MY tries to find the antidote but can’t find anything bc this is the outer court and not the inner court of his home (inner court is nearer the capital).

in the novel, STL and JBZ weren’t on good terms. tbh STL didn’t have a huge role in the novel. Bu Xiu is JBZ’s subordinate. he handles his affairs and follows his orders.

the drama has changed quite a few things compared to the novel. one of them being that STL’s charatcer is more active now. in the latest trailer (3), STL says ‘I will not let you die”, he’s saying that about Ming Yi. then in the next scene he gets stabbed by a woman who says “that means you’ll have it give up the golden millet dream”. that woman was not in the novel at all so they added her in the drama. I think from that point on STL will be controlled by her or affected by that stab and will turn into a villain. I’m hoping he still retains his original essence like in the novel and Returns normal but he might become obsessed with saving her and stuff cos it’s rumoured that he forces Ming Yi to get married or something which also didn’t happen in the novel lol. also in the novel he had no yuan power but it looks like he can use it in the drama so we’ll see what happens cos I have no idea how 🤣

JBZ, MY and 2 others. rn they were at a disadvantage bc they never performed well and had never worked as a group. the other 2 members didn’t rlly trust JBZ, and JBZ didn’t rlly care to make an effort to work as a team. they were hit with the hard reality and the tournament that it wasn’t so easy. everyone else altho may not be as strong as them could work together. they found themselves being targeted often bc they would separate and that’s bad in these large scale mountain night time matches. the goal was to get to the top of the beam closest to the moon first and then longest. each whole team that makes it there together first and for enough time wins. everyone else is they get tapped on the back of the neck is automatically eliminated. some stuff happens, MY doesn’t hold back. it’s reveals she has white pure Yuan power. shocked to find out it’s Ming Xian!! stuff happens they get to the real six cities tournament they’re fighting. then something happens Ming yi finds out her real dad is the eunuch subordinate of the empress that spared her life. but he’s in danger. the empress’s side has kidnapped him to lure Ming Yi and JBZ to Chaoyang city. they decide to go. btw JBZ and MY built trust on each other but aren’t rlly going out w each other. he loves her but she doesn’t kno if that’s rlly love. then the big reveal, when they get to the city, it’s revealed JBZ is actually the emperor and empress’s son. the son the empress always wanted. she was pleased to see him and expected him to be happy but he was not. he did not see these people as his family. he was abandoned as a child. the truth gets revealed
JBZ and MY were swapped at birth. well not rlly. basically as babies, MY was born with the brightest form of red meridians. this is super important hc it means they’ll be a very strong yuan fighter. her parents are distant relatives of the empress (they’re from the same clan but not rlly related). JBZ was born from the Empress but without red meridians. The empress was shocked. she got her eunuch to find a baby with red meridians and that was actually his baby. but he didn’t tell her that was his child. he was forced to give Ming Yi to her. since this is xianxia they had a way to make her a man but she could always change back to a girl. While Ming Yi grew up in the palace, trained like a robot to be a fighter machine, JBZ was sent by the subordinate to a slave camp in Muxing City. he periodically would check up on how JBZ was doing. this was his punishment for the empress. if his daughter was fighting everyday to the death like a sword, then he’d make the empress’s son fight to the death in another way. at that slave camp the owners would force JBZ to eat poison, lots of poison and he slowly stated becoming immune to them. Ming Yi was also being poisoned by the empress. slowly each year, to control her but also so in the future when her second son is old enough to take over as heir she will disgard Ming Xian. and that’s exactly what she did. unfortunately for her, her second son was born with not any real fighting talent. he was also lazy and hot headed. at around the age of 10 or 14 JBZ’s red meridians appeared. he became stronger and stronger and fought his way out of the camp. red meridian and strong yuan power was uncommon in Muxing city, so he was taken in to be cultivated and trained. he slowly became one of the strongest. that’s why Ming Yi needed to go to JBZ to get the antidote. only he had one left.
after hearing this. JBZ said nothing. Ming Yi was worried that he would take it badly because well she was the reason he had to suffer so much as a child. bc she took his place. the emperor welcomed his real son JBZ and intended him to be his heir bc he was so strong he could win for Chaoyang but what they didn’t expect was JBZ had no intention to do so. he frankly did not care. he fought for Muxing city not for Chaoyang. they weren’t his parents. he had no parents. he was abandoned. these people are nothing to me, is what he thought to himself. but he had a reason for staying there and pretending to go along with it bc he still had justice to uphold.
in his childhood only one person cared about him. it was this last, she was a distant cousin of the concubine in Chaoyang city. she didn’t deserve to die. her husband killed her. he was angry. (I can’t rmb what ge did to resolve it but yeah he was not nice in Chaoyang lol)
then MY and JBZ and their team left for Cangxue or Feihua to hide bc Chaoyang was searching for them. they weren’t gonna let them go so easily. while there, it was quite cold and snowed a lot, but they were able to find refuge for a bit. however so many girls there were treated so badly to get married off that people who gave birth to girls would drown them for fear that they would be taken from them and lived as a way to make more children. eventually that city had more men then girls. JBZ and MY did Everythint they could to hide as many children into their home and eventually took them back to Muxing once they resolved things there.
later they had to have an war basically with Chaoyang city. JBZ and MY was in love, they lived and died together they were inseparable. unfortunately at that time Ming Yi didn’t know that JBZ had agreed to marry the princess in Muxing city to secure the army force to fight Chaoyang. he kept Ming Yi in the dark while she was preparing her wedding stuff expecting to marry him. for her marriage was sacred. one person for life. she would never accept someone already married. she was lied to. the whole time JBZ kept telling her “whatever happens, you must trust me”. but the day came when she found out that he had gotten married. she has closed her heart. she felt embarrassed, betrayed and like a fool. how could she trust him? there was no turning back. he tried to explain to her, but she didnt care. it was over.
he became the emperor of all the six cities. while each city got to have their own “emperor” that would over see each of the cities, now there was a king above all and that was JBZ. MY was the queen/empress of Chaoyang city. she did everything she could to give back to the people and make sure they could survive. after all, she was raised there, and fought for them, Chaoyang is special in her heart, it’s her city, her home.
since she had broken off with JBZ, and ruled Chaoyang she decided to have a harem. why could men have so many women but women can’t do the same? she told them, if you can fight me and win then you can make the rules since you can, I will do what I want. she’s so badass!! 🔥🔥

Muxing city was the lowest city, that’s why the other envoys came to gather at Muxing. mainly to receive their resources but also so they all kind of have a conference before the upcoming tournament. two important people to note at that gathering is Shen Tialin (he was Ming Xian’s master and teacher. he was incredibly strict with him. if it was easy for Mingxian, he would not make it easy. this was all to train him to be stronger. but he loved him dearly and is still trying to locate Ming Xian. he doesn’t believe he actually died. another important person to note at the gathering is Zhengtian (I think that’s his name) he was always second to Ming Xian. every year they would compete and he would end up losing. he saw Ming Xian as a rival but respected him very much. they were kind of friends. he also doesn’t believe Ming Xian died and dreams of the day they can compete again. bc Ming Xian was the only one who was on par and fought with honour and fairly. btw Ming Xian was basically like a robot back in Chaoyang. he only trained and trained and trained. all his winnings were taken and looked after by the empress. he actually lived very humbly, only focusing on cultivating, getting stronger and learning more. Zhengtiang is typical muscle head. only cares about cultivating and yuan fighting. doesn’t rlly care about anything else lol. but the difference between them was responsibility. Ming Xian has Chaoyang’s honour to uphold, citizens to look after, parents to respond to. he was not celebrated by his family, him winning was expected and a requirement.

JBZ was very confused why suddenly everyone cared sm about MY who he had discarded 🤣🤣 (this chap was so funny and satisfying)
later it was discovered that MY has a talent for artifact forging which Muxing city lacks, and they needed her. even if she was a woman. some stuff happens JBZ’s suspicions were confirmed when Shen tialin was pretty mad at him. Shen tialin confronted MY. he said why didn’t u tell me? Ming Yi said “I don’t want to worry you, I don’t even know if I can live. at that time he knew I would be poisoned after being so injured”. Shen tialin said “when are you going to come back?” MY said she can’t. I’m not Ming Xian, I’m Ming Yi. Ming Yi isn’t ur disciple.” Shen tialin scoffed, “I only had one disciple successor and that was you. and it’ll alway be you. doesn’t matter if you are a girl or boy”.
later JBZ confronts Zheng tiang and said why didn’t you tell me?” Zheng Tiang confused said, no one knew. I had my suspicions bc I thought I felt her yuan power before, but there was no way right? who knew she was Ming Xian. you should take care about her better: she’s lived a hard life. JBZ said nothing….
later some stuff happens she also enters the academy as a artifacr forger. some stuff happens one day JBZ returns home urgently. at that time MY goes to investigate about that hidden courtyard, mysteriously protected by yuan shield. but just as she gets into the tiny shed and sees how there is nothing, she notices a huge dark dense, yuan energy infiltrate the area. and suddenly a person staggers into the tiny shed that she was hiding in. that person was JBZ. he was injured and covered in blood. in a moment or wavering she rushes to him, he instantly tenses up and says “who’s there” then realises it is her. he’s angry why she’s there but also heavily injured and doesn’t have the energy to ask questions. out of protection his spirit beast, the black dragon engulfs the space and tries to attack MY, but MY is strong and isn’t fazed. the Dragon thought it could scare her but realised wouldn’t work so he gave up lol. MY’s own spirit beast, the cat came out and slapped the dragon lol. the dragon is scared of the cat. pretty cute. then outside is a mob of angry fighters form the academy demanding to see JBZ bc he killed one of them that was heavily respected for being fair. btw JBZ doesn’t have a good reputation. hes super strong but not rlly a team player type of guy.
just then, STL arrive at the house, sent to inquire about the inventory they have and if they had any green fabrics in the house. at that time im pretty sure MY and JBZ was separated. MY was smart and pretended that she had fallen out of favour from JBZ. he no longer cared about her. she paraded herself into town acting or pitiful. at that time she knew why JBZ wasn’t coming home. it was bc they needed to put some distance from each other. act as though they weren’t that close so JBZ wouldn’t get implicated in the investigation. MY was smart and knew he wouldn’t come home for like a month to ease suspicions. so she helped him even more by completely throwing herself for everyone to see that she has been abandoned. she went all the way to the tea house where JBZ was with the top courtesan. she was at the bottom and cried “my lord my lord” “this is unfair, don’t you love me?” and JBZ was furious and yelled at bu xiu (his guard, subordinate) to handle her. but deep inside that was also an act to make everyone think he truly was mad at her. he was relieved to know she came all the way here and knew what he intended to happen. but he was a bit worried that she was actually upset. btw throughout that time the got closer and he really thought she was simple an nothing to be suspicious over.
then one day, Bu Xiu notified JBZ of a unknown worker in the house. he didn’t do anything suspicious tho but he just came one day. JBZ raised an eyebrow and told him to keep an eye for him. that person was Ershiqi. then one day while Ershiqi was trying to scout out the house he returned like normal only until JBZ asked him “where have you been?” he originally didn’t pay any attention to him until he saw some moss at the bottom of his shoe. this was bad. how could JBZ even notice that? it’s bc that moss was only found in one part of JBZ’s house, somewhere important.
at that time STL had told MY that there was a special place in JBZ’s house that had a secret. and that’s why Ershiqi was investigating. they thought it might be where the antidote was. but there was nothing there but a memorial and a small tiny house thing. but it was protected with a huge yuan shield. a very thick one. MY however didn’t know what was going on. she didn’t hear from Ershiqi at all. she got worried. Bu Xiu and Madam Xu was notified if MY said anything. MY couldn’t help it and went to look for him. at that time Madam Xu told her she must not go outside for like 3 days or smth. it was a test. if she ignored the order then she was guilty. but she did go, she went to find Ershiqi, her only family now, her apprentice, her brother. JBZ was furious. he confronted her. She asked him “where is he? what did you do to him?” JBZ snickers, who is he? he’s that important to you huh. you lied to me. he gave her a chance to explain, MY at that moment knew there was no going back. she would probably die but it didn’t matter. the only thing that mattered was if Ershiqi was alive. Ming Yi knew she didn’t have much time left, maybe a couple months to the end of the year. her time was running out, but she still cared about ershiqi bc she knew what JBZ was like. JBZ, seeing that MY refused to explain nor answer his questions, he smiled and told Bu Xiu to lock them up until they say something. give them time to create a story. Bu Xiu followed his orders and threw them into the jail shed. he was confused why MY would do this, he thought if she just explained to him what was going on, he would understand. but MY didn’t know JBZ like they did. she only knew he was cruel and hated traitors the most. but that didn’t matter, only Ershiqi mattered. once inside, MY asks him if he’s alright. did they do anything to him. Ershiqi says, “why did you believe them?” “ofc nothing happened to me” Ming yi says “I know now. now she realised this was all test” and she has failed that test. JBZ, after eavesdropping outside the shed, realises they discussed nothing interesting but confirmed they knew each other stormed off. he ordered no food or drink until they talk. Bu Xiu was worried if MY could endure the harsh conditions of the shed, it had rained and she was a weak girl. but Ming yi didn’t say anything. MY had truly fallen out of favour from JBZ.
JBZ basically threw her out. but didn’t let Ershiqi go with her. she couldn’t explain what their relationship was, only said he’s like her brother, he followed her here, he has no home. JBZ said that since MY was still his person (registered as her concubine or smth, no he has no wife), he still had ownership over her. he said I won’t hurt ershiqi, I will look after him here, but he can’t go with you. at that time MY trusted nothing would happen to Ershiqi so she left. luckily JBZ had gifted her so much gold and valuables that she was able to buy a store front shop, upstairs with a house.
oh YEAH I remember something important whoops!! the reason why JBZ was implicated in the dress thing was bc Zhang tai reveals everything. she found out the guy she made love and got pregnant with had an affair and she was filled with rage. a bit unstable and didn’t care anymore. she wasn’t important to him, her baby was bc they needed a heir. she was extremely mad and revealed everything bc it would get him in trouble. and this is why MY was being investigated by STL. but STL trusted her so it didn’t matter, he would listen to her, and that’s why JBZ And MY had to pretend she has fallen out of his favour) I forgot this huge part lol.
back to the new house/ store MY bought. bc Zhangtai had nowhere to live now and was pregnant, MY couldn’t let her struggle alone and let her live in her house. she taught Zhangtai how to make money and sell things to earn her share to live there and also to keep her busy. some time passes and when she comes back there’s another woman in the house. it’s Zhang tai’s cousin. MY walked up to the closet and hiding inside was a little boy. the mother apologises she was actually the concubine of a man that recently died and all the wives were being exiled but she escaped with her son. but rn a son was missing and he was his heir and very important. but she promised MY that her son would take her last name, not her husbands. and they intended to help the business. she was good at embroidery so MY let them stay. it wasn’t like she was going to kick them out. some time passes, next time MY returns they have already built quite a good business and are doing well. then she realises the little boy has red meridians. he has future as a powerful yuan fighter if he trains.
back to when STL arrived at the house to investigate the green dress, a fire broke out. Madam Xu and Bu Xiu was trying to save the house. only the inventory area was completely burned. at that time, JBZ was not home, MY was outside too but rushed back when she heard the news. Bu Xiu and Nanny Xu watched as MY did everything she could to save what was remaining. Nanny Xu had broken her arm. everything was chaotic. then the officials arrived with JBZ. the officials wanted to investigate the inventory but it was all burnt down. JBZ was mad. seeing that MY was still out of JBZ’s favour, Nanny xu and Bu Xiu came to her defence saying that she helped them. MY said since they can’t check the inventory you’re no longer implicated. JBZ was relieved but still wasn’t happy. once MY fell out of his favour, there was no turning back. he hated liars the most. he did have suspicions how the fire started tho. it was reveals that MY concentrated her yuan power to that area and was able to locate the inventory area and completely burn it.

JBZ was seated at the front and beside him was a spare seat. he let Tian Ji sit there to embarrass MY. but MY didn’t care and walked all the way to the back (the lower seats), she was pretty much bored. the whole time more envoys arrived and they all started gathering. then they talked about the upcoming six cities tournament.

MY was suspicious but refused to move. she stopped in her place. then some sort of like guards bandits on the empresss (Muxing City), coming and surround her. what they don’t know is that although Ming Yi’s meridians are extremely damaged, she still can use them to an extent… bc she’s been cultivating and being very careful. she’s one of the strongest fighters so she’s quite knowledgeable). basically she uses her yuan power and attacks them. btw Ming Xian has the purest form of yuan power (one of the strongest), and it was a signature colour of Ming Xian so she needed to be careful not to be noticed. eventually they all got beaten up, but just around the corner was JBZ and a couple of those important officials/emperor dude. worried to be seen, just in time a young boy witnesses what had just happened. he was dumbfounded. but just as MY was discovered by the boy, JBZ and the officials arrived. MY acted all innocent, was on th ground weeping. she thanked the boy (who is Situ ling) for helping her beat those bad guys up. bc of this, JBZ praised the boy and said he had a promising future. luckily for Ming Yi, STL didn’t expose her. he was actually quite grateful for her bc he got a promotion (he’s in the justice department). but later MY has a misunderstanding and thinks he might expose her but actually he wouldn’t bc he actually likes her. he has no yuan power so he thought she was very cool for a girl to have one. she was strong. he felt that JBZ treated her poorly and that she deserved better. STL and MY were more sibling coded in the novel. he has unrequited feelings for her but she never returned them. she saw him as her little brother. very different from JBZ. a good person lol.
then a couple things happen in the house, bla bla bla, we get introduced to Er Shi qi who we find out is Ming Yi’s body guard kind of. he actually followed her from Chaoyang city to Muxing City. back in Chaoyang, Ming Yi/xian got to choose someone to train and out of everyone, Ershiqi was the only one who didn’t seem to like her. so she chose him. at that time he was very rebellious and refused to follow her orders and instructions, but Ming yi would never complain. she was patient with him. after a while, Ershiqi realised being bad wouldn’t work on her so he did the opposite, he did exactly what she wanted him to do. sh taught him how to channel yuan power and helped him train to be stronger, and eventually he did get stronger. then he stopped being rebellious and they got closer. however, the fatal day when Ming Xian disappeared, he couldn’t abandon her. he tracked her down and followed her to Muxing City. (it’s not clear if he followed her or if they came together but he appears at JBZ house and warns MY that JBZ has arrived, this is when MY was in his study trying to find the antidote), JBZ brought home a girl that day (he was forced to bc the royal family were trying to control him and have more eyes and ears at his home so that girl was there to kind of spy), this is bc JBZ is the strongest fighter in Muxing city and they might win the six cities tournament bc of him
the novel starts off where JBZ is at a hall with a few important people and he’s sitting at a table with his friends. MY is a dancer waitress at the hall and while she’s serving guests she accidentally drops a cup and it rolls and stops in front of JBZ’s leg. JBZ is a womanizer, douche, very confident in himself, he’s blunt, has a particular type of women he likes. the ones that are pretty, delicate, weak, someone he can protect. MY apologises for dropping the cup, and JBZ says “why don’t you come home with me?” JBZ friend laughs at him and says to MY, “don’t be fooled, you’re not the only girl he said that to tonight, better for u to come home with me, I wont treat u badly, whereas he’d get bored of you”, MY says thanks to JBZ but bc she cares about stability and money she declines and agrees to the Friend, JBZ annoyed, offers her more and she agrees.
once at his house (outer courtyard) we find out more of MY’s past. before coming to Muxing city, she was known as Ming Xian (the 7th time six cities tournament winner from Chaoyang city) she was extremely powerful and legendary and the youngest winner. however a year ago Ming Xian disappeared. he was never seen again nor did he compete in the six cities tournament. that was because, Ming Xian was poisoned. for a yuan fighter, their meridians are really important and bc of the poison, her meridians were extremely destroyed and twisted together. once it gets rlly bad, she would die. at that time she had no idea how she got poisoned and how long for. the day she was disposed of she felt sick and in so much pain and asked for help but she came face to face with her mother, the Empress, who told her subordinate to dispose of her and take care of the body. at that moment MY was confused why her mum wanted to kill her. lucily, a eunuch (the subordinate) didn’t dispose of her body, instead he saved her, but barely. he told her to find someone in Muxing City, he was the only one who had the antidote and that person was JBZ.
Back to the story. once at JBZ’s house, MY and JBZ were very lovey dovey. when she was introduced to Nanny Xu (who takes care of things at the house), nanny Xu assumed she was only here for a month at most. like most girls JBZ brought home. she pitied MY a bit. but she was also astonished at how blatant and greedy MY was. MY didn’t hide her love for gold and materialistic things so whenever JBZ wanted to spend the night more intimately she was always satisfied with the gold he would offer her lol. however, as soon as he brought her home, someone from the investigative department came knocking on his door. there was a murder. right after all the guests left the town hall for dinner that night, one of the men (I can’t rmb his position but he was kind of important) died. and they were investigating all people especially the dancers who were able to interact with everyone. JBZ said he checked MY and there was no way she could’ve killed that guy, so they said ok and did the formal basic requirements and then left. while she stays at his house there’s more about the murder etc. while JBZ is out doing is work, MY tries to find the antidote but can’t find anything bc this is the outer court and not the inner court of his home (inner court is nearer the capital).
