i do not think it is bc the antis but more of what the people like to see and live with, for us it is just the acting and the story, for chinese it is the language, the accuracy, the depth, even the costumes....most of the highest rated dramas on douban are serious shows with those very respected old actors that captures the reality of chinese people and how they live, whereas here most rated dramas are idol dramas with repetitive stories and famous actors... i am not saying they are bad but it is cultural, for example wifty, it is pretty famous inter..., but not in china bc the acting is okay, the story is nothing new and it is not that accurate since it is kind of childish, no hate tho, i think that show is cute, but i am just saying what people think, another example is romance in the alley, not famous but it did veeery well in china, bc it captures reality, it is so real bc that is exactly how chinese people lived back then...., if it was really about the antis, this would not do well in china since liu yuning is not so loved by so many people, but this show has so many jokes and cultural accuracy that makes people enjoy it even more, the thing that international fans might not get bc of the language barrier
