Xie Zheng could have been so much more 😮‍💨. And all of that just to highlight Chang Yu’s character, who ended up being rushed as well.

You will find many similar Dramas like poj 'such as: Wonderland of love, a journey to love, legend of female general.…
Honestly, those who have watched Fated Hearts know that Pursuit of Jade isn’t better. The Lin’an arc was really good and made it seem like the rest would be even better, but that wasn’t the case in the end.

Xie Zheng didn’t have the same charisma as Feng Sui Ge. He was supposed to be a feared general, and in Fated Hearts, they actually showed us why: his strength, intelligence, and abilities were clearly highlighted. You could truly feel why he made his enemies tremble. In that drama, we saw the most savage side of each character, especially Feng Sui Ge.

In Fated Hearts, we get a lot of depth for both protagonists: the fights, the aura, the chemistry, the suspense, the betrayals, the plot twists everything was there.

In Pursuit of Jade, on the other hand, the imbalance between the characters is too noticeable. Xie Zheng feels more like a secondary character in Changyu’s story, and Changyu’s rise as a general was rushed and inconsistent.

The main strengths of the drama are definitely the cinematography, the first part that develops the romance, and the visuals of the cast. But honestly, in terms of plot, it’s still weaker than dramas like The Double or POB.

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
Xie Zheng might have been more of a red flag character, but Qi Min stole all the flags!! 😂
Qi Min, The best written character 😂😂.
Xie Zheng, with his obsession and jealousy, could have easily stolen the spotlight. He was the kind of person who, at first, didn’t even really care about Chang Yu’s sister.
That scene where Qin Min says they should cut off every limb that touched his wife’s body was completely insane, but the novel version of Xie Zheng was capable of the same kind of madness 😂.
Characters who are a bit crazy, obsessive, and cold always stand out especially when they’re on the good side or the male leads 😂😂.

I like this drama, but it’s obvious that the whole leak situation was a marketing move to push viewers to watch it on official platforms, even though, in my opinion, it was unnecessary since it’s already a commercial success.
Honestly, Xie Zheng’s character should have remained a true red flag like in the novel. They should have even given him darker, more individual scenes. I was expecting a morally questionable character, obsessively attached to his wife in a slightly unhealthy way, while staying fully committed to his revenge without wavering.

Xie Wei will always remain Zhang Linghe’s most morally complex character. As for Xie Zheng, he wasn’t really impactful, even though he’s handsome and did highlight Tian Xi Wei well.

To be honest, screenwriters should start creating stories that balance both protagonists equally. This drama may have been female centered, but even the supporting characters left a stronger impression on me and were more captivating than Xie Zheng.
He lacks individual depth and mainly exists to fill a role in Chang Yu’s story, while even the antagonists are given more personal dimension.

The drama started off really strong but ended up facing the same issues as many others, like Legend of the Female General. Unfortunately, romantic dramas tend to focus too much on female characters instead of maintaining balance.
It’s becoming rare to find truly well written characters from beginning to end. I expected Xie Zheng to have as much charisma as Li Bi in The Longest Day in Chang’an, even though the genres are different.
That said, this drama introduced me to Tian Xi Wei, and overall, it wasn’t bad.

I haven’t watched all the episodes myself yet I’ve been too busy for now. I only found out about the situation and this whole debate when I came across the page today.
I didn’t realize there were spoilers in the comments, since most of them are marked. That said, I can understand why those who don’t want to watch the leaked episodes would be annoyed by spoilers.
On Pursuit of Jade 21 days ago
Honestly, there’s a lot of hypocrisy here 🙄. The episodes were leaked and have already been watched it’s unfortunate, yes, but it’s a reality. Everyone is free to make their own choices some decide to watch them, others prefer to wait for the official release, and both choices are equally valid.
But criticizing, judging, or attacking others for making a different choice makes no sense. If you’ve chosen to wait, that’s perfectly fine, but it doesn’t give you the right to impose your opinion or guilt trip those who decided otherwise.
In the end, everyone consumes content in their own way. What matters most is respecting other people’s choices and not turning this into an unnecessary conflict. Because at the end of the day, the leak already happened, and nothing will change the fact that there will likely be consequences, whether people watch those leaked episodes or not.

The worst part is that some of the people moralizing here may have already watched the leaked episodes themselves in reality, no one truly knows what others do behind the scenes. So this whole debate is pointless. Instead of talking about the positive aspects of the drama, some prefer to focus on meaningless drama and unnecessary arguments.

How could I have forgotten to mention these gems: The Untamed and Word of Honor?
Liu Yuning and Cheng Yi have so many great wuxia projects. A Journey to Love was really excellent, and what can I say about Cheng Yi… I love his work!
You seem to know a lot of great recent wuxia dramas, and I’d really love to get your recommendations.

I'm hanging on hoping it will change my mind 😭💀 It's not like Heros that totally blew my mind with fight…
Personally, I just can’t get into it at all. Zhou Yi Ran’s expressions sometimes feel overly exaggerated and unnatural to me. The bath scenes were almost uncomfortable to watch, especially with that arm movement 🫣

Some of his looks, which are meant to be intense, come across as forced. The umbrella fight scene was acceptable, but the “lightness skill” scenes were simply awful their bodies lacked stability and control.

The identity reveal happens too early and without real context. My reaction was simply: “That’s it?”

As for the heroine, her constant need to show how intelligent and perceptive she is without truly developing the plot feels somewhat misplaced at this stage of the story.

For now, the only real appeal is watching the handsome Zhou Yi Ran on screen. 😂

There have been a few gems like Mysterious Lotus Casebook, Joy of Life, Nirvana in Fire, Sword Snow Stride, and a few others. Even Dafeng and My Journey to You weren’t that bad.

Return of the Condor Heroes is a true classic that really made me appreciate wuxia.

Lately, it’s become difficult to find good wuxia dramas especially ones that manage to balance romance and plot in a smooth and cohesive way.

I think I’ll go back and rewatch the last wuxia I saw. It was actually pretty good.
On Generation to Generation Feb 24, 2026
Honestly, the plot doesn’t become any more interesting, and it’s really hard to feel invested in the subplots.

It’s quite disappointing. The way he revealed his true identity was also absurd almost as ridiculous as finding a single hair in a bowl of soup.

Their attraction feels rushed and unnatural. Even though the story relies on classic clichés the “good” that turns out to be the real evil, and so on nothing is properly built up or well developed.

The fight choreography isn’t up to par either.

At this point, Zhou Yi Ran is practically the only reason some people are still praising the drama.

So far, it’s honestly not a very good wuxia.

Title Shine on Me
I understand both the FL and SML , FL unrequited love and her going to shanghai just to get a glimpse of the guy…
The real issue lies in his inferiority complex toward her. He can’t even imagine that she might genuinely face real hardships simply because she is wealthy. He constantly feels the need to belittle her because of her privileged background, as if her wealth were her only quality and as if she had to constantly prove otherwise.
This dynamic, even if they had ended up together as a couple, would never have worked. He would have continued to project his frustrations onto her. This type of man needs a partner he perceives as inferior or at least of equal status in order to feel comfortable. Otherwise, he will always be frustrated by women who are above his social standing.
I’ve already dated a man who earned less than I did, and it was a real ordeal having to endure his misplaced ego. Even in friendships, people who envy your financial situation or your ambitions become a living hell on a daily basis. It’s best to distance yourself quickly from this kind of toxic person

I’ve been to Thailand twice and I’m going again in a couple of weeks, and let me tell you, Thailand is extremely…
I’ve been there several times. It’s hot, but not to the point of sweating heavily like that. I love going there during Songkran it’s so much fun. The heat is definitely real, but dramas often exaggerate it for visual effect 😄
Songkran with the heat, the water, and the atmosphere is truly one of the best times to be there.

"jin zhao this" "jin zhao that". give my boy sanlai some love too
You just reminded me that Sanlai is readers’ second favorite character. He’s considered Jin Zhao’s true family because he has always been there for him, supporting and protecting him during his hardest moments.

Exactly! Especially since he wants to protect her so badly that he has absolutely no intention of deliberately involving her in activities linked to dangerous people. The more serious he appears with Mumu, the more those dangerous men watching him will turn her into a target. Some viewers really have a very short memory.
On Speed and Love Dec 16, 2025
Calm down, there is absolutely no cheating involved. He’s doing this for a good reason. This scene was actually supposed to happen earlier, but it was obviously pushed back. Don’t forget what Jin Zhao is involved in and why he’s only playing a role he never crossed any line.
