Lol! If you saw the 10 minute pilot trailer they just released you can guess there is going to be so much more sex lol!
Omegaverse is a highly sexual genre that is why Boat & Oat are perfect for it. Most everything that is Omegaverse in writing or manga is heavily focused on the sex. It was basically created as a way for male characters to become pregnant since omegas of any gender can become pregnant in Omegaverse. They even hinted at pregnancy in the trailer.
Pray tell what do you mean by ABO Desire portrayed Omegaverse badly? I am curious... Because this isn't a competition…
Say what?! I actually love Chinese BLs when they are actually good. And no NC scenes do not have to be a part of them for me to love them! Blue Canvas was amazing & had beautiful storylines without any NC scenes.
And Revenged Love is one of my all-time favorites. Even censored as it was, it was still amazing & perfect with beautiful portrayals of the characters. So much so that the heavier NC scenes were not missed or needed imo.
But here is the thing, neither of those examples are omegaverse. I am judging Desire harshly for it's lack of NC scenes BECAUSE it is supposedly portraying OMEGAVERSE.
I don't hate Desire because it's a Chinese BL I hate Desire because it portrayed itself as being faithful to Omegaverse then came out & basically skipped over anything that had to do with Omegaverse. Omegaverse is a highly sexual genre, that's a given, you don't say you're doing Omegaverse actively portray yourself as UNCENSORED omegaverse, then skip out on the sex scenes. Knot is doing it right. So far every trailer Knot has come out with is properly portraying Omegaverse. From what a heat should look like (the opening of the ten minute pilot) to the way characters act while bonded/mated literally throwing each other on the bed & going at it like crazy people ignoring anyone else in sight. That is Omegaverse ... not whatever the heck Desire was trying to be & failing at lol. If you can't see the HUGE difference in portraying Omegaverse between Knot & Desire I really can't help you ... like ... ??? I genuinely don't care what country it comes from if it does Omegaverse right I'm here for it, tbh.
Oh no! That's so disappointing! I was looking forward to a merman BL! :(
i took the plunge & watched it & yeah I don't know what everyone is complaining about ... nothing about this is bad or boring? Like if there is one thing i would change it's the main character not knowing about him being a mermaid this whole time but other than that i've seen so many worse thai BLs than this. Cutie Pie for one.
I hope this kind of BL doesn't become a trend, I haven't been able to watch Khemjira and looking at the trailer…
Khemjira is actually really really good and not at all focused on the horror! the horror is so minimal if you can just get past the first episode & it's random jump scares, after that it dives into the story & the characters & has so many layers & so much depth! And I was literally like you hating the idea of a horror boy love going into it, but giving it a chance changed my perspective because i want more BLs with actual depth rather than the same semi-cringey stuff we've been getting all this time. Khemjira is not what you think it is. I promise! <3
Don’t know if it’s the cast or the storyline but this drama bores the hell out of me. which is disappointing…
Seeing how so many people are saying it is terrible is making me so sad!!!! I was so excited for this! Now I'm depressed and don't want to even try it!
Desire started out poorly and has proceeded to go poorly! Thought I was the only one who thought so! Lol! They…
I have been reading Omegaverse since way back in 2009ish as well. Maybe 2010. I've read countless portrayals and aside from using the terms ABO Desire just didn't quite meet the level. I found this review of Desire & this person pointed out what was wrong with it so perfectly I don't feel I have anything to add to it: "The harboring passion Hua Yong has for Sheng and Shen’s instinctual overhaul due to his rut were all emotionally absent and barely felt. It exuded clinical energy instead of raw primality, which contradicts omegaverse’s intent of utilizing animalistic traits and propensities to explore the less logical and confining parts of human eroticism. The supposed release of control, sheer loss of rationality, and betrayal of their instincts to fulfill a biological imperative felt passive and cheap instead of fervent and blazing with desire™. I’m aware of the censorship, and trust me, I’m not asking for bare asses and explicit sex scenes on my screen—what I’m saying is that a passionate atmosphere can still be achieved if the correct directional choices are made despite said physical limitations."
But yes, aside from the lack of all of what that person said portrayed on the screen that can be felt when reading Omegaverse novels, I am really hoping for a good plot as well! Gosh My Stubborn was really great! I was so shocked by the sheer amount of sex scenes scattered throughout because I was NOT expecting that from the pretty tame poster & vague summary I read prior to starting lol!
I believe that ABO Desire is Omegaverse but it is poorly portrayed visually on the screen. I felt like they just sort of said the words and terms at us, without showing us anything visually aside from a few lame fight scenes (if they can be called that considering most of the time they just used pheromones to take each other to their knees which was an interesting use of pheromones but that's neither here nor there lol!) and even the non sexual stuff (such as showing the men with a pregnant belly, or delving deeper into family dynamics & the alpha, beta, omega roles in society and what they mean aside from just telling us things it would have been nice to be shown them, for example) was omitted. Pheromones were the only thing shown to excess but there is so much more to Omegaverse than simply showing pheromones all the time. OH! And another good example of why it missed the mark was the constant business meetings. So much of the show was wasted on boring business meetings! I've never read any Omegaverse novel that has so many business meetings aside from that one! You have this interesting new world to explore with all these exciting things & you want your audience in business meetings all the time?! -sobs;
I AM HOPING ITS BASED OFF A REAL MPREG THIS TIME! AND THAT THE PREGNANCY IS NOT AT THE TAIL END AS AN AFTERTHOUGHT!
As someone else ELOQUENTLY pointed out about how terrible Desire did it's portrayal of omegaverse & guess what it's nothing to do with the sex scenes (or lack thereof) I will just leave this here because they laid it out perfectly and said exactly what i am trying to say: "The harboring passion Hua Yong has for Sheng and Shen’s instinctual overhaul due to his rut were all emotionally absent and barely felt. It exuded clinical energy instead of raw primality, which contradicts omegaverse’s intent of utilizing animalistic traits and propensities to explore the less logical and confining parts of human eroticism. The more upset you get about it now, the more will come out just to spite you :)
I just had to cackle at the part where you said: 'I'd prefer it over a story that throws outlandish plot twists at it's characters' YOU DO REALIZE LITERALLY 99 PERCENT OF ASIAN DRAMAS THROW OUTLANDISH PLOT TWISTS AT THEIR CHARACTERS RIGHT?! lmfao! What are you doing in the asian dramas section if you don't prefer outlandish plot twists?! Lmfao! I really had to laugh so hard at the ignorance of that statement! Still am! Thank you for giving me a good laugh! Bahahahahahaha!
Desire started out poorly and has proceeded to go poorly! Thought I was the only one who thought so! Lol! They…
That's just it, ABO Desire wasn't made in China supposedly to avoid those restrictions but still imposed them on themselves anyway, thus creating something borderline unwatchable >.> But it is what it is. I get it, people wanted anything & settled hard with what little they gave us. That's my only explanation for all the praise of that dumpster fire.
I know Knot will deliver what ABO Desire did not. Boat & Oat are actual FIRE together and when I imagine Omegaverse they would be perfect for capturing the essence of what it is like reading Omegaverse novels. Hell just their trailer did that!
Desire started out poorly and has proceeded to go poorly! Thought I was the only one who thought so! Lol! They…
It doesn't fit any novel or fanfiction I have read of Omegaverse ever and I've seen and read countless! It's not my 'picture' of Omegaverse it's literally the definition of what Omegaverse has always been and I didn't see it reflected on the screen. It was boring and I never thought I would say that about any depiction of omegaverse which is always action-packed, and driven by emotions. I think people were desperate for any rendition no matter how bad & weren't seeing it for what it actually was because I have no words for the level of bad what I watched was ... and that ending ... wtf?
Pray tell what do you mean by ABO Desire portrayed Omegaverse badly? I am curious... Because this isn't a competition…
In no way do I have a problem with any of those traits in Omegaverse! I encourage them! If only Desire had shown more of them in action! There was literally only one major NSFW scene in the whole show for each couple! That's insane to me when we're talking about Omegaverse! Omegaverse novels have constant sexual energy going on just about every other chapter! Not that snoozefest! They would rather have us sitting around watching business meetings & annoying conversations about scheming than actual action! Having to wait until episode 9 for anything sexual to happen is wild for Omegaverse! Honestly there was so much wrong with it and this isn't even the half of it! Those of us who aren't completely desperate for anything saw how bad it was. >.> I can't help those who saw it as perfection, they're living in delusion as to what Omegaverse actually is. And before someone says it followed the novel, I'm aware it somewhat followed the novel, but all that really tells me is the author wanted to describe things more than show things and that's also not the makings of a good novel either .... sorry not sorry guys.
Pray tell what do you mean by ABO Desire portrayed Omegaverse badly? I am curious... Because this isn't a competition…
It isn't but it should be! Read below for what was wrong with it. But yeah, it was terrible & I pray to God it doesn't set a standard for what we get with all Omegaverse, but honestly, seeing the trailer for Knot has given me hope that it won't! & if anyone can save that genre on the screen it's those incredible actors!
Pray tell what do you mean by ABO Desire portrayed Omegaverse badly? I am curious... Because this isn't a competition…
Nope I mean that show was super boring, showed hardly anything it mostly talked at us and explained rather than showed anything, & took almost the entire show to have the pregnancy happen. >.> It didn't even have the vibe of Omegaverse going for it. Everyone has been praising it but I swear some of these people would have accepted anything & praised it lol! The trailer for Knot already feels more like omegaverse than Desire ever did! Toxic traits are totally fine with me, but honestly, Desire didn't even portray anything 'toxic' except for the character who lied throughout nearly the whole show >.> It was mostly just 'alphas' sitting around in buisness meetings & dinner parties for 80 percent of it. I was so excited for Desire but yepp they killed that excitement pretty quickly for me! The side couple was the best thing going for it & they barely had any screen time at all!
