I didn't watch the Korean version and I was very entertained with this. The score must be so low because of the comparison between the two? I wasn't confused, everything was well laid out and fast paced which can be refreshing if done well. This basically cemented the fact that I will definitely be watching the Korean version soon.
Hot mess + somewhat entertaining + Choi Woo Shik = finishing this drama no matter what. This was a wild show with cliche plots and kinda boring romance (sorry!), but the premise for the marriage fraud was entertaining enough for me to watch it all. Super average drama, but it's 12 episodes, so why not?
When you commit to a 40 episode rom-com you better deliver with engaging plots, major character growth across the board, and an entertaining supporting cast. This one didn't really deliver in any of that... This was like a super stretched out 24 episode version of the same ol same ol rom-com. The main wtf moment in this entire series was her bff breaking the sister code pursuing FLs ex of 4 years. I'm sorry, but I will not root for you. Who cares if she moved on? Sister code. I fast forwarded through all of that mess. The FLs personality was a hot mess throughout the entire series and showed no real growth. She was whiney and had everything handed to her. Her business would have failed 10x over if it wasn't for ML. So...you want Xu Kai eye candy? Watch this. You want a good rom-com worthy of 40 episodes? This is not it.
Beautiful, captivating, epic, romantic, happy. This has officially set the bar for fantasies in my opinion. I have no complaints. The story was mesmerizing, the pacing was perfect, the characters grew with the story. I wasn't bored and I was terribly sad when it ended. Good luck to future fantasies, this one is going to be tough to beat! My first 10/10 in this category!
I don't care what others are saying... I'll take the broke person and chaebol fall for eachother storyline any day. These romcoms are necessary for a healthy balanced kdrama diet.
I hate hate hate hate the 3rd act breakup trope. Please check every other trope box popular in these dramas, I don't care, but I cannot stand this one. I don't hate this drama because of that, I'm just being grumpy.
Everything's clear and explained until Ep9. After, needs to think a bit and not miss moments when there are clues/explanations.…
I feel like I'm entitled to share my opinion of a drama that aired almost a decade ago. I watched this in its entirety - no skips, no fast mode, no turn your brain off mode. I can name less than 5 dramas in the 100+ Ive watched that I've felt I needed to do that, and this wasn't one of them. Explaining new mechanics or things that conveniently work in your favor out of nowhere to move along the plot or story is Deus ex machina and I noticed a lot of reviews had sited the same thing after I commented. I don't think there's convincing you if your name and picture is the title of this show ๐ and that's okay - just don't insult my viewpoint.
what did I just watch? this went from ok this is interesting -> wait, what? -> hold on, how - why? -> I'm so lost -> that's not how they explained this.... the plot lost itself around episode 5. They overemphasized the villain (even tho it was an intriguing idea) without explaining why things could happen the way they were. Deus ex machina was at its finest here. The plot kept moving forward with crazy plot devices that I couldn't grasp. Cool idea, awesome production, good acting, but I'm sorry this story was lost in itself.
This show had me mesmerized until the final 10 episodes where we finally learn about her trauma in detail. I couldn't understand her fear with opening up to ML about the uncle (especially after you learn the detailed past) when she addressed most of her other past issues already. Her man couldn't make it more obvious to her that he was all in and would do anything for her. I thought we were at that point with her where she found self worth and trust and could open up but we took a step back instead. ahhh what a bummer. I still absolutely adore their love story and growth until that point.
Late to the party and I'm really enjoying it. You don't always need depth to a trope-filled rom com. Sometimes people just want to shut their brain off and watch the silly. The leads chemistry is great. Now if the back part of this drama is full of misunderstandings and a last minute break up I will riot. Please don't โ those trope boxes.
The most natural, goofy, beautiful love between two leads. The story is wonderful, the pacing is perfect and never drags. There's no boring middle section, no awful third act, no unnecessary misunderstandings - just a pure, everyday slice of life story. Do not avoid this warm hug of a drama. I smiled the entire time.
