The ending of episode 25 though! Xie Zheng had such a commanding presence even as commoner Yan Zheng. The way…
The one thing this series does right is the quiet power of Yan Zheng/Xie Zheng. Because he has real power, as a commoner, even when people act like they are above him, he never reacts. He's always calm and collected, because regardless of who he is pretending to be, he is always who he is.
I’m glad they didn’t make her a Mary Sue. She isn’t some genius who happens to be a great fighter. She’s…
I used "dumb" to describe how her character is portrayed sometimes. Sometimes being the operative word. No, I was saying dumb wasn't too harsh to describe her at times b/c it was accurate. Her being an orphaned village girl doesn't mean she has to be "dumb." That's the complaint. Not that she's portrayed as dumb all the time.
It's not so much being dumb as not having enough information to make a better decision. She is in the dark about…
She also asked him if that is who he was/what he did. My point is she knows he's important and (unlike other things) seemed to understand his role in things. At the very least, it is someone who is high up and who she trusts. We'll see out it plays out.
so a simple country girl can not be sweet and loveable? How does it take away from her character it is her character.…
I've done that multiple times, this isn't my first time bringing this up, so I'm not going to go into all the details. But as I've said in this thread, if the prince food exchange plays out like it seems it would...that's an example of being a dummy. You know the Strategist. You don't think for a second to run it by him before you do anything? You're just a pretty, dumb, brute who can't think things through for a second?

You know the Strategist and instead of asking him what does he think about your bright idea is to trade a PRINCE for food???? C'mon. But that's not the only thing I've said as this isn't my first time bringing this up.

Once again...there's a reason I said "sometimes" - I've said more than once that it is something they lean into at times and I don't understand why b/c it's not necessary and takes away from the character.
TXW can probably get away with it whereas it would have been quite grating with other actresses? I recall some…
Agree on other roles. New Life Begins she's a bit ditzy but not dumb. That's the difference. She was sheltered and unworldly, but never came across as a dummy, tho a bit ditzy...they walked a fine line there but it worked.
I agree! I’m getting annoyed that her character comes across as uncouth and ignorant, just like her master called…
No. I love it. Best long drama I've watched in awhile. There is just some things that annoy me. I feel like c-dramas can at times go to extremes with their female characters. And it's like b/c they made her super strong that had to make her a "sweet little dummy" to balance it out. And that's just kinda unnecessary.
Boy when it does it's gonna be a mess.
