Just started watching this. A few episodes in and this reminds me strongly of Fangs of Fortune. Anyone else has that same reaction?

Started to watch this drama. I loved the other two in the series the Blood of Youth and DashingYouth. I am at episode 10 and I can’t quite get into the story. At surface level it should be a great drama - rich overall plot and interesting characters — but it somehow feels flat. I don’t know if it’s because of GS who is surprisingly stiff and inexpressive in this drama (I remember he was outstanding in Word of Honor so what happened to his acting skills?) or if it’s the plot but it’s not grabbing me especially compared to the other two series. CHS is doing a great job - so charming and engaging (I was hoping he’d get a better role after You Are the One and he’s not disappointing). I’ll stick around for a few more hoping it picks up .

Is this drama worth watching? There have been a marathon of dramas lately that have been pretty good and I can’t keep up.

I think his best role was in the Blood of Youth. I recommend that one.

I agree .. he nailed that role in AOL so well that I can only see him as Run Yu. I loved Deng Lun in that series though. What a pity he was cancelled .

Does anyone know how well this drama performed overall? Gotta be honest this was my most anticipated drama of the year .. I still enjoyed it quite a bit - the main couple was fire — but I think the plot was not that differentiated and after watching Immortal Ascension that was filmed outside the in studio scenes felt claustrophobic .

Agree with your top ranking — Immortal Ascension as number 1. Even though there have been a lot of great dramas this year that was my favorite by far in terms of the plot, the acting and the production. I hope they go for season 2, I did have high hopes for the Journey of Legend but I feel like it started to drag towards the end and couldn’t bring myself to watch the last few episodes.

Yes exactly. He is such a well known actor. The different voice throws me off.

Strong start so far but bummed that the leads are dubbed.

I loved the immortal ascension. The production / background was gorgeous and YY was so good in the movie.

I watched it. I loved it!! Can’t wait for her upcoming movie Hidden Shadow with LHY the actor from The Blood of Youth.

I also ended up dropping LBFD — the FL voice was grating. Couldn’t handle it. I prefer strong women leads like Fated Hearts, The Legends or Who Rules the Word.

I tried to watch WDBTD too (loved the ML in Evernight) but ended up dropping it after 10+ episodes. For whatever reason I didn’t find the FL engaging — her character was not very appealing imo. I might give it another shot.

The MCP might be one of the hottest couples I’ve seen in Chinese dramas. I don’t know about the actual story line (entertaining but pretty standard overall I would say) but the two leads are on fire for each other. Their chemistry is carrying the show.
