I got intrigued from the first episode. I guess it's different, we all don't get hooked on the same thing. It'll be up to you whether to continue or not.
Finished EP 3 My Thoughts: Visually pleasing drama but that's it. Plot is boring, execution is ridiculous, alot…
Fantasy usually starts with world building. The first episodes were opening up to the main plot but it's also an arc on its own which makes you understand what's happening as the series goes by.
The first episodes are important to the storytelling. And really, it's intriguing and interesting. The plot is like big puzzles, not simple but if you're lazy to think you might probably end up getting lost.
29 episodes is too little, especially for two main couple. We literally needed at least 40 episodes. Anyway, my angst parents (Jingyi & Rui) should just collaborate on another project.
I love how the foxies are delivering their lines. Foxes were always said to be clever, cunning, and sly tricksters, and you can literally see by the way the actresses carry themselves that they truly did justice to their characters as nine tail demons. It's like they're teasing you and pulling you in without you knowing.
I'm on episode 3 and I've always wanted to say WTF!!?
Someone should at least tell me that Veir and Kelvin do not end up together, then I'll breath.
However, i understand the logic of the story because how did it start? By being kind. Veir was probably the first person who has been kind to Kelvin so he ended up obsessing over it. Then he kept wanting more, more, and more. This is fine is they're showing it to teach the audience something, but it's definitely not if they romantize it.
I'm seeing a lot of posts on Twitter saying Fangs of fortune had no plot and this one will probably have no plot too. I came here to check if everyone thinks the same...
But I realize that cdrama watchers seem to be in simple plots because they're lazy to think. They're not used to plots within plots type of dramas which is what was happening with FOF. Some people should widen their range, don't limit them to xianxia or wuxia that is written like some Disney fairytale.
This wasn't a woman empowering dramas as expected. We need dramas who do justice to women centric dramas because at the end of the day, the writers give applause and aura to the men and make women lose aura points.
And how TH is everything mad at the cheating trope so bad and overlooking the main plot. When in truth, y'all wouldn't act so disgusted if the man was doing it. I even expected it to go throughout the whole series with the way y'all were so mad.
Duan Xu is giving a newbie general and he does it so well. Considering the character's age, I liked how they didn't force maturity and aura but did it the way that gives off the young man energy.
He Simu too. You can clearly see the difference between the opening and throughout the episodes. In the opening, she really gives off power and aura... while in the rest of the episodes, she's curious, playful, confused, making it clear that she's not human around humans.
This is a good start so far, and their chemistry is good already. I cannot wait for more episodes. 👏
It's officially over, why do I feel so sad about this omg?
This was such a beautiful story. Everyone worked so hard, main leads, including the supporting actors. All the stories were worth watching, the main story was entertaining, the side stories were good too.
However it does feels a bit rushed that I wish they've done two seasons instead to cover everything. What an era, nothing else will feel as good as this again.
Let me say this with my whole chest — Xie Zheng's storyline has Epic Lead DNA and they have him playing emotional…
You've said it all.
Problem is, there are many plotholes centering around "telling, not showing" which throws most of us off. We don't have a problem at all with them being powerful and having an equal footing in their dynamic.
However, they suddenly made the male lead give us handsomeness and aura without showing that he actually deserve his tittle. We know he's powerful, but they had to show us that he's indeed powerful.
Changyu was better in the first episodes too than now. It's like the more she's becoming powerful is the most they're making her stupid and unreasonable.
They have been through a lot. You don't expect them to really be over each other like they were in Lian right?I…
Because it was shown, they didn't tell.
Changyu's love was easier to understand because they wrote most of the story in her narrative. So it's easier for her to share her thoughts with the audience.
Xie Zheng's point of view is shown through Changyu's eyes, not directly from him. However with the conflict they have shown between him and his uncle, it's easier to understand that for him, the life of politics is rather much rotten than the life he led when he was in Lian.
Most of the story is shown, not told. Then there are only few parts where they tell, and now show.

I guess we have different views on how their love started.
From Xie Zheng's part, I think it started off as gratefulness, to appreciation, to protection then fear of losing her. That was the process of him falling in love. With his background, he never met someone as Changyu who is struggling but can still be so carefree and selfless. He knew the life of politics and battlefield where even a kin can kill you, but Changyu was willing to take care of him without selfish desires. He admired her strength, and personality, then he started becoming smitten with her. It was definitely not automatic.
And with Changyu, she started with a small crush on him. Most of us usually admire people because they're just too pretty and it was obvious that she was not in love them, but had a crush. She took care of Yan Zheng because it was in her nature, and she believed that her mother wanted her to save him from that snow. She's kind and selfless (Which is still shown throughout the series cause she's willing to save everyone without a single thought) Throughout the fake marriage, she got used to Yan Zheng's presence, and care. The village was always against her, but she finally met someone who was patient and willing to help her. Ofcourse she was moved, and she started liking him. But she was a bit in denial because Yan Zheng was leaving, but when Yan Zheng finally left... it was then that she felt his absence and came to terms that she truly loved him.
It’s really sad how the chemistry between the main couple has fizzled out. This is what happens when you don’t…
They have been through a lot. You don't expect them to really be over each other like they were in Lian right?
I just think they're trying to get used to their new dynamic, and we'll see them being more lovely dovey then they will showcase their chemistry. They we're together for a long time during these past few episodes so ofcourse the audience will feel the disconnection a little.
I'm loving this drama a lot. However, the plot seems to be cut off in these past episodes like if you don't know, you don't know. Some scenes are just all over the place.
It's a beautiful story but executed messy at some point that I didn't even like everything in it, and I barely enjoyed 50% of the story.
Miss Hong has so many character traits I wouldn't want in people around my circle. She has a terrible personality, the only thing I loved about her is that she's strong and smart.

I've been anticipating for this drama for a long time but since we've just gotten out of the POJ fever, I really hope I'll love it.

That's my take.
Xie Zheng and Changyu were so done with Gongsun and the princess.
